She went on to acquire a degree in the Petroleum Geology field. In 1995 she began painting again at Beeville Coastal Bend College and moved on to Rockport. Ainsworth recalls, “I was fortunate to meet other artists and paint pein air with them. I became a part of Wind Way Gallery.” She says, “ A painting starts in the artist’s brain. THE HISTORIC CENTER FOR ARANSAS COUNTY is the blue Victorian style house located at 801 Cedar St. in old Rockport. ROCKPORT CENTER FOR THE ARTS entered its 52nd year of operation in May of 2020. Inspiring exhibitions, an annual Artist-in-Residence program and traveling exhibits are part of the repertoire the community and its visitors have come to expect. The many activities of the Art Center still attract 30,000+ visitors per year. In the spring, the Rockport Tour of Studios allows visitors to see some of the most unique artist studios in Rockport’s storied art colony, while learn about a variety of art mediums, techniques, and add to their own art collections by dealing directly with artists. In the summer, the Rockport Art Festival, a 52 year tradition, makes Rockport the place to be July 4th weekend. More than 10,000 people attend each year to enjoy music, food and artwork from over 130 of the best artists from around the United States. In November, the Rockport Film Festival, local in favor-international in scope, entertains audiences with the best of independent cinema. Workshops, classes, and mentoring from established local artists are part of a well-crafted art education program that has delighted locals and visitors alike. For decades children have enjoyed free, high caliber art education year-round through ArtSpace Summer Art Camp and Free Family Saturdays. Since Hurricane Harvey, not a single program or event has been canceled. In fact, new programs and events have been added, such as the Rockport Art Loop (a monthly downtown gallery walk) featuring 10 galleries. A full calendar of exhibitions and programs is in place for 2020 and 2021. A world-class sculpture garden featuring works by Kent Ullberg, and the late Jesus Moroles among others have accentuated the Art Center since 2000, making it one of the most prestigious showcases for fine art in South Texas. The Texas Commission on the Arts designated a defined section of The Rockport Heritage District as a State Cultural District (CD) in September 2016. ROCKPORT CENTER FOR THE ARTS entered its 52nd year of operation in May of 2020. Inspiring exhibitions, an annual Artistin-Residence program and traveling exhibits are part of the repertoire the community and its visitors have come to expect. The many activities of the Art Center still attract 30,000+ visitors per year. In the spring, the Rockport Tour of Studios allows visitors to see some of the most unique artist studios in Rockport’s storied art colony, while learn about a variety of art mediums, techniques, and add to their own art collections by dealing directly with artists. In the summer, the Rockport Art Festival, a 52 year tradition, makes Rockport the place to be July 4th weekend. More than 10,000 people attend each year to enjoy music, food and artwork from over 130 of the best artists from around the United States. In November, the Rockport Film Festival, local in favor-international in scope, entertains audiences with the best of independent cinema. Workshops, classes, and mentoring from established local artists are part of a well-crafted art education program that has delighted locals and visitors alike. For decades children have enjoyed free, high caliber art education year-round through ArtSpace Summer Art Camp and Free Family Saturdays. Since Hurricane Harvey, not a single program or event has been canceled. In fact, new programs and events have been added, such as the Rockport Art Loop (a monthly downtown gallery walk) featuring 10 galleries. A full calendar of exhibitions and programs is in place for 2020 and 2021. A world-class sculpture garden featuring works by Kent Ullberg, and the late Jesus Moroles among others have accentuated the Art Center since 2000, making it one of the most prestigious showcases for fine art in South Texas.
