Pigs Can Be Trained To Play Video Games With Their Snouts, Study Reveals While they can’t fly, they’re a beast on a joystick! While many know that pigs are quite intelligent animals, a study was released in April that has shown they’re skilled gamers as well. The study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology is the wrap up of lengthy research into pig intelligence that began in the 1990s by scientists that were working with a world renowned researcher. The paper focused on 2 Yorkshire pigs, Hamlet & Omelet, and 2 Panepinto micro pigs, Ebony & Ivory. The pigs were trained at joystick-operated video game tasks that has been used to test chimpanzees and rhesus monkeys. The pink pals learned to manipulate a joystick with their snouts and to move a computer cursor across a screen. They were able to move the cursor to hit a wall, and a treat dispenser would offer them a snack when the task was completed. With varying difficulty levels, the pigs eventually excelled at their game. While the pigs didn’t perform as well as the chimps and rhesus monkeys, it could be because they had to use their snouts. The gamers eventually had to retire from their accounts due to age & size.

While people have been traveling to the Sin City for nearly 100 years, the gambling landscape in the United Kingdom has been improving with popularity over the last decade thanks to the diversity. With over 100-land based casinos across the island, people are flocking to the land of the Queen for a chance to play games like blackjack & roulette - another benefit - you can gamble from the comforts of where you’re staying with gambling legalized across Britain. Online gaming like slots and digital poker are increasingly popular and offer free rounds on the entertaining screens. While some people will still continue to venture to Las Vegas for the glitz and glamour, the United Kingdom is becoming popular for those who prefer a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. 6

It’s here y’all - the summer time is here for us to enjoy whether outside gardening, poolside, by the beach, or just between the parking lot & bingo hall. All of these are times that your skin is exposed to the Sun. All of this is time for you to truly enjoy the time spent with your family and soaking up the sun. You can forget to protect your skin and you’ll need to remember to pay attention to parts of your face & body. While you should always apply sunscreen with broad spectrum protection to your face & areas of your body that will be exposed to the sun (including during the winter) these are the usually overlooked areas that need to have a little extra special attention.

Step #1: Protect Your Nose Obviously this is the most exposed part of your face. It’s out there and is prone to getting sunburned when compared to other parts of your face. Look for a broad spectrum sunscreen that is specifically for your face. Consider looking for a zinc product to use on your nose specifically.

Step #2: Protect Your Eye Lids Your eye lids are incredibly delicate and thin. Look for an eye cream with sunscreen and wear sunglasses when you’re outside, even on cloudy days. You’ll be able to find a great sunscreen-infused eye cream at Walgreens, H-E-B, CVS that won’t break the bank.

Step #3: Protect Your Lips Ever feel that the more water you drink, the more chapped your lips get? Yeah, we feel you on that one. It’s important to make sure that you continue to get the hydration you need. Your lips are very sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays. Use a lip balm that has sunscreen packed in with the moisturizer. Pick a great one that you can stick in your pocket and take with you to eat out with friends & family.

Step #4: Protect Your Ears The Sun is a sneaky force. Even with long hair that is long enough to cover your ears. You need to apply sunscreen to tops, sides, bottoms, everywhere in between. You may also want to consider wearing a wide brimmed hat while outside to offer sun protection.

Step #5: Protect Your Neck & Chest This is where you can truly tell someone’s signs of aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin - just as your face does. Protect it from the damaging rays from the sun with sunscreen and cover up as much as you can.

But remember you can’t just simply put sunscreen on and head out. You have to remember to not miss a spot. Don’t rush this practice - take care of areas that may go uncovered and bring the sunscreen with you on the go. Create shade where you can.

Pennybirds are quick bingo games we play in most of our GBF bingo halls. They are played one hour before the first session. One paper will cost you only a penny (hence the name), but there are two rules: 1.) First, you must buy into the bingo game of the day to play. Paper or computer, it does not matter. 2.) Second, you must buy at least 25 cents worth of pennybirds at a time.

With the incoming of the warmer weather, we are so excited to come out of the thaw. Gardening can be incredibly good for the soul. But many people don’t know why gardening is so good and important for you. Thankfully AARP & Good Housekeeping put together a list so I don’t have to try to convince you to enjoy this fun hobby. Gardening can lower your blood pressure. Yes! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - just 30 minutes of exercise can help seniors avoid health problems that are normally associated with aging - like high blood pressure. Gardening can increase your heart rate, which helps you burn calories and build strength. We know that strengthening your bones is a huge part of why this is so important to work into your life. When you’re spending time outside in the sun (with sunscreen), your body is absorbing Vitamin D. Being in the sun is the only natural way to get Vitamin D. Vitamin D fills you with calcium, a nutrient for building strong bones. Relieve stress - we’ve all been experiencing long-term stress. Stress can have a negative effect on our health. If you have any pre-existing, or autoimmune disorders like arthritis, stress can trigger flare ups. Depression, heart problems, cognitive decline can also be triggered. Gardening provides a sense of control, confidence, and pride as you watch the plant grow from the seed to product. Speaking of cognitive development - decreasing the risk of dementia. Your body will get triggered with sensory stimulation. This can help reduce the progression of dementia. Spending time each day in a garden, working with your hands and plants, has the potential to decrease the progress of dementia by 36% Nobody wants to be lonely… and we’ve all been dealing with isolation, being alone for the last 15 months for health reasons. But isolation can also be dangerous to our health, especially for older adults. Gardening, especially community gardens, can provide the socialization and finding common grounds with your neighbors or others living in a senior living community. Remember to dress appropriately always covering your body. As we age, our skin becomes thinner and more susceptible to the sun’s harmful rays. We also expose ourselves to the risk of cuts and irritation. Safety first - when working with chemicals and fertilizers, read the labels. Mixing chemicals can cause unwanted reactions when they are mixed together. Take care with sharp tools. Know your limits with the higher temperatures, it’s important to pay attention to your body’s cues. Stay hydrated to make sure that your body doesn’t get heat-related illnesses. Go out early in the day rather than working on the garden when the sun is the highest. 28

This is the best Mexican food in the area, by a landslide! I LOVE the pastor. Their tortillas are awesome. They have real queso, unlike any other place in the area. I could eat here every day. They have awesome portion sizes; we always have leftovers.

Visiting from out of town. We went here based on reviews amd they did not let us down. We had the Fajitas with a totada,total, and rice. They were great! The service is what topped it off. We both said when we come back with our children and grandchildren we will be coming back her for sure. Covid measures in place with barriers between tables amd wait staff masked. We decided to stop by one day and check this place out. The manager greeted us and sat us at our table. He was very friendly and attentive to our needs and our children's needs as well. The menu has sooo many choices you couldn't go wrong. He helped us decide by his recommendations. I had a breakfast burrito that was the length of my forearm. The chips are seasoned and the salsa is so yummy. I like that they give you a cup of beans a la charra as well. This restaurant is a must try; you may even make this place your regular!!!
