Illustrious Sir Gary R. Radvansky Potentate of Alzafar Shriner We may have been dark for the month of July; however, the light of Alzafar is brighter than ever. The past month has been a whirlwind of excitement and positive energy and I don’t know where to start. I will begin by saying “THANK YOU” to all of the Nobles and family of Alzafar. We are having so many people appreciating Shriners and what we do; not only on a local level, but from an Imperial level as well. Our positive attitude is contagious and noticed around the world. We attended TSA this year and ALZAFAR took charge. In January, I had asked the Nobles to make a strong showing in Waco and boy did we deliver. Not only did Alzafar take home more trophies in competitions than any other Shrine, but we were recognized as the top Texas Shrine in Membership. When the Imperial Representative announced at the end of his presentation, “If you want to know how to increase your membership in your temple, go ask Alzafar”! It was very humbling. The turnout of Nobles & families at the Seguin July 4th parade was awesome. The city of Seguin was so excited to see Alzafar Shriners participate and the cheering never stopped (some with a standing ovation). The judges presented Alzafar with a beautiful trophy for Best Overall Participant. We had a float for our Noble’s Ladies & Family and it was packed to the max. Don’t forget that the Veteran’s Day parade on Nov 11th in San Antonio, as well as the Sattler Parade on Dec 9th will both be family parades as well, therefore, please spread the word. We would love the participation. Imperial Session was in Daytona Beach, FL this year. During this event not only did Imperial Officers congratulate Alzafar for all the great things we have been doing, both for our Shrine temple and the hospitals. Not to mention, other Shrine temples would follow suit and congratulate Alzafar once again…..Humbling! Thank you for allowing Cheryl and myself to represent

ASSISTANT RABBAN Eric DeWalt Alzafar Shrine’s Hospital Gala Presents “The Rack Pack Lounge” It’s August and that means we are getting closer to our annual Shrine Hospital Gala on October 14, 2017. We have been hard at work behind the scenes to create an event that will bring out all the Shrine’s cool cats and dolls. This year, we plan to turn the Alzafar Shrine Auditorium into the “Rat Pack Lounge” and create a vibe of cool, hip fun. The Bernie Martini Big Band will have you dancing the night away; the caterer has created a menu reminiscent of the Sands Hotel circa 1960; and the décor will transport you to era of when fedora’s, skinny ties, crinoline petticoats and kitten heels were all the rage. But now we are at a point where we need your help. I am reaching out to all Nobles and their Ladies to get involved and make this an event to remember. Help us raise funds for the many children we serve through our Shrine Hospitals. I ask that you consider buying a table for your unit, your family, and reaching out to your non-Shrine friends and show them the fun and fraternity we have while helping kids. I will be coming by the units asking for your help with table sales, auction donations and sponsorships. If there is a friend, professional, vendor, etc. that you think would be willing to sponsor or donate to the auctions, please contact me and I would be happy to reach out to them. We will be posting more information on the Shrine website and will be having our first Gala meeting in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I ask that you think about how you can help ensure the success of this event and raise funds to help a child in need. How about that new sign? We should be back in business by the time you read this article. Hopefully by the time you read this, the rest of the capital projects are now completed and I hope you are enjoying the recent remodel to the Shrine Center. It will really add a new clean appearance and compliment all of the other projects, which are now complete. Congratulations to our Ill. Sir Gary and his committees for being so diligent in seeing all of these projects come to fruition. I also hope you recently saw the packed house in July for the Teachers Comedy event. I have never seen such a packed event. Linda is knocking it out of the park. While the Temple was Dark in July, some of the Divan attended the 2017 Imperial Session in Daytona Beach. A lot was learned and we will be sharing the important topics with you soon. I will be sharing our 7-month financials with you as normal in our August Stated meeting, along with a budget comparison on the format you approved back in February, so you will get to see our financial standings in two different formats. Additionally, we finished the 2016 Audit and have a clean report. All accounting agreed with Imperial by-laws as well as GAAP. (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Please come out and support your local blue lodges each month. The more we can help them increase their membership, the more opportunities we will have to do the same. As always, I am proud to serve you and if there is anything I can help you with, please contact me. RECORDERS CORNER T-Bone Tommy Leverett All quiet on the western front. That is how I describe the Temple after TSA. Did you know that Alzafar won more trophies than any other Temple in Texas? Alzafar Rocks, because our guys show up to represent our temple. For years I had the privilege of competing with the Motor Patrol, but I will never forget my first competition. The guys in the Unit had told me they had a run of 6-7 years winning first place at TSA and I was nervous and did not want to be the Noble that messed up that great record. While cleaning up the bike prior to inspection, I made the mistake of using Armorial on the motorcycle seat. During competition, I was sliding all over that seat and I don’t know why I did not slide right off the seat. So, if your Unit made the trip to Waco, please thank them for carrying on the TSA tradition. I was blessed to join Arabia in 1984 and after my company transferred me back home to San Antonio, I joined Alzafar in 1986. For many years I thought of myself as a young Noble. After turning 60 last year, I don’t think of myself as a young Shriner anymore. I move a little slower and a little slower to get started, but I think serving as your Recorder I have extended my life, because I am always walking all over this building and campus. If life was fair, I would be skinny again! Now the Potentate has me going out to Camp Alzafar to check on our employee and keep another set of eyes on the place. After having a cabin for over 15 years, I love going back to camp even if for a short visit. My job is to keep the business side of the temple running, but my favorite part of the job is visiting with Nobles and the ladies when they come into the office. My lady, Lisa, says I don’t hear very well, but I can hear a voice at the counter from my office and I typically know who has stopped by the temple. I have always said I work for you the Nobles, and if I have done my job correctly, your office staff and maintenance staff have the same attitude. By the time you read this article, the renovation is complete or should almost be complete. The new Digital Sign should be showing our message to all the people on Loop 1604 and when you walk into our building you can say thank you to the Potentate and Divan for seeing the vision of the renovations to the end. Yes, with Lynda’s help, marketing the building we will make a lot of rental income, but at the end of the day, this beautiful place belongs to you, the Nobles.
MEMBERSHIP By: Al Rapoza Our membership continues to grow each month. I want to thank everyone that was instrumental in bringing new members to Alzafar. For our great fraternity to succeed, we must make sure every Noble understands the significance of membership. As your Membership Chairman, I am dedicated to making a difference in the membership challenge of the Shrine. At our Membership meetings and in our efforts throughout the year, the Nobles who serve on the Membership Committee work toward increasing the Shrine’s membership. However, to make an impact, each individual Shriner must make this same commitment and work together to bring in new Nobles. If the Shriners don’t pull together and start making strides toward increasing our membership, the Shrine will cease to exist as we know it. Remember: The key to our future is Membership... TOGETHER WE CAN. Remeber this: If the current membship loss of 4.8% contnues throughout the contiental US, then by 2030 we will have less than 100,000 members!

The Veterans Administration now provides eligibility determinations for interment in a VA national cemetery. Preplanning allows families to determine if the veteran is eligible for burial in a VA national cemetery. Preplanning may reduce some of the stress a family experiences upon a loved one’s death. Interested individuals may submit VA Form 40-10007, “Application for Pre-Need Determination of Eligibility for Burial in a VA National Cemetery. THE ANTIQUE CARRIAGE UNIT By: Bud Martin The deadline for the ACHBAR has been changed to the 10th of each month. I hope that everyone noted the change. Either I just made it or missed it. My article was sent on Saturday June the 10th for July 2017. We do not have a parade for the month of July and we do not have a parade for the month of August. However, we do have two parades for the month of September. The first one will be on Saturday, September 2nd, line-up is at 8:00 AM; start time is 10:00 AM. The parade will be held in Boerne and it is the Kendall County Fair. The second parade will be in Hondo and that is the Medina County Fair. Line-up is at 8:00 AM; start time is at 10:00 AM. I hope to see you there. It is time to move on for now. To quote George Washington: “Truth will ultimately prevail where there are pains taken to bring it to light.” No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child. God Bless.
If you live in the Boerne, comfort, Bergheim, Kendalia, Fair Oaks Ranch, or Northern San Antonio areas and would like to join and fellowship with a lively group of fellow Nobles and their Ladies, then come and join us at the Boerne Shrine Club. We enjoy getting together for fun and fellowship, as well as working together for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals and Alzafar’s Hospital Transportation Fund. What Did We Just Finish?: We finished our annual Street Collection in Boerne and the Gospel Show starring The Marksmen. As a result the Boerne Shrine Club donated $10,000 to the Alzafar Transportation Fund at June’s Stated Meeting. Great results! What’s Coming Up?: We’ll be putting on the tailgate gate party following the Kendall County Fair Parade on Saturday, September 2nd at Boerne’s Agricultural Heritage Museum as we usually do. Come and join us after the parade. In the Fall we’ll again be sponsoring the Magic Show for kids of all ages. Watch out for the time and location in future articles! If you’re a Shriner reading this and wondering what those folks in Boerne are up to, then come and find out! We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at different restaurants. THE BAND By: Richard Wallace This month’s article comes to you from the Pearl of East Africa, Uganda, where Nobles Eric Fenton and Richard Wallace are on their fifth Band and Bible Mission. The band began the summer season with a performance at Camp Alzafar’s opening on Saturday, May 27th. Participants were Billy Steele, Tom Kopcho, Joe Buenrostro, Emilio Casarez, Bonnie Verzosa, Eric Fenton, Chuck Thompson, Red Stewart, Juan Garcia, James Moss, Steve Nail and Jerry Hopkins. On Saturday, June 10th, the band performed for the Harlandale Class of ‘57’s 60th Reunion. This performance resulted in three $100 Million Certificates. Performers included Billy Steele, Gordon Brewer, Richard Wallace, Joe Buenrostro, Emilio Casarez, Bonnie Verzosa, Eric Fenton, Chuck Thompson, Jason Davis, Juan Garcia, James Moss, Steve Nail and Danny Lopez. TSBA this year once again saw Alzafar leading the way with First Place trophies in German, Dance, and Dixieland Bands and a Third Place Trophy in Concert Band. Band members were Nobles Billy Steele, Tom Kopcho, Joe Buenrostro, Emilio Casarez, Bonnie Verzosa, Eric Fenton, Chuck Thompson, Red Stewart, Richard Wallace, Steve Nail and John Dunn. We celebrated with a party on Thursday, June 22nd. Our next big project will be to prepare for a performance of the Pretzelbenders German Band for one of the Beethoven Mannerchor Gartenkonzerts. These Gartenkonzerts are held on third Fridays between May and September. The Band would like to solicit your prayers for Nobles John Behrens and Ricardo Baldarrama who are battling several serious ailments as outpatients at M.D. Anderson Clinic in Houston.
old and a last minute decision was made to run at TSA. I threw a routine together and we hit it hard with practicing, the guys got the basics down and then I really started to push them. John, Ariel, James and Garrett were my team. I was unable to compete due to a scheduling conflict. Every practice had its ups and downs, but we were able to power through them and bring home a trophy. Once we got it down to the proper time, correct spacing and intervals to where it looked good, they loaded the trikes onto the trailer and headed for Waco. Well the fun hadn’t stopped yet. While on the toll road they had a blow out on the trailer. Was this a sign? Finally after all the dust settled and our wounds healed, I can say the Chaparrals have nowhere to go but up from here. I, as well as all the Chaps would like to say a huge thank you to James Stimson. This Noble went above and beyond to help us out to make some last minute repairs to our trikes two days before TSA. I really don’t know what we would have done if he hadn’t shown up that night at the shrine. Also, much love to OG Travis for being my stand in. Like I said there were alot of obstacles but we came out on top. If you haven’t seen the new trikes I’m sure you will be seeing more of them in the near future. The guys managed to make the Seguin 4th of July parade and like I mentioned before, should be heading to Tyler as this is being read. We rose from the ashes and while we are still a small unit we are currently taking apps for new members. If you’re somewhat computer savvy, look us up on Facebook under Alzafar Chaparrals. There you will see pictures of the unit room, our new rides, new uniforms and general goings on of the unit. Like to play pool, like to watch all the latest games or pay per view fights, we have that as well. So again , are you lost and looking for a new home, come by room 4 at 7:30 the first Monday of the month. Now we are dark till September, but hit us up on Facebook and someone will reach out to you and get you all the unit info. I guess that’s it for me, hopefully I will remember to do the articles for the coming months and you will definitely be seeing more of the trikes at upcoming events. CHAPARRALS By: Chris Celis, TSMPA Past Pres 2012 I’m back, took some time off, well no actually life and a job got in the way, imagine that! Ok so let’s catch up folks. First things first, we won 2nd place at TSA and as you read this article, carts are loaded on the trailer headed for TSMPA obstacle course in Tyler. Yes, you read that right, 2nd place. I’m so proud of the unit. The trikes were barely 2 months
Here we are with half of the year gone by and quite a bit still to do so don’t sit down yet. We have our second section scheduled for October 7th, then the big Hospital Gala on October 21st followed by our annual Shrine Circus November 9th thru the 12th, then on December 15th, our joint Christmas party with the Roustabouts on a Friday night for a change. So, mark your calendars for all of this. If you have not attended a Hospital Gala, you need to as it is always a great event and very enjoyable to go to as well as benefiting a great cause, our Hospital program. Try it you might like it. Congratulations to the Staff for bringing home another firstplace trophy for a cold stunt at All-State in Waco last month. Also, congratulations to all the performing units of Alzafar Shrine Center for bringing home the most trophies of all the

Shrine Centers that participated. We are all proud of you so keep up the good work. Dark in July so we will meet again on August 8th and our attendance has been a little better but we still could use more so if you have not been to a meeting, it is time. Get off your duff and come on out as our ladies have been feeding us well and the meetings have been short. Our Assistant Director just turned 61 in June and we wish him a belated Happy Birthday and wishes for many more to follow.

Our sick, lame, and lazy report is that Nuckles Gimbel is doing better now, no report on Viviano or Ed Lee. The Shrine lost another longtime member, Abner Ross at the end of June and we ask that the Supreme Grand Master give comfort to his family in their time of sorrow. SHOTGUN UNIT By: Bill Willis The Shotgun Unit traveled to Waco June 15th to represent Alzafar and compete in the 2017 TSA shoot. We had a great turnout and fielded three 5-man teams. And I’m thrilled to report (as predicted in the last issue) that the “Smokin Clays” prevailed and brought the President’s Trophy home to Alzafar where it was presented to our Potentate and will remain on display for the coming year. And, of course, we have every intention of defending the trophy next year. The President’s Trophy is awarded to the Temple with the high team score from the TSA shoot combined with the high team score from the TSSSA Mid-Winter shoot held in March of this year. So, it truly was a team effort. Congratulations to all the Nobles that worked so hard over the last year to hone their skills, support the unit and help us achieve our goal. I’d also like send a big thank you to all the Ladies that regularly come out and support us at all the events, practices, barbeques, and stated meetings throughout the year. We couldn’t do what we do without you. Our next fun shoot is scheduled for August 26th at 9:00 a.m. at Bexar Community
THE DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS By: Richard Wallace The Drum and Bugle Corps wowed the judges during the TSDCA Drum Corps competition at TSA in Waco. They performed “Texas A&M, UT, and God Bless America”, “St. Louis Blues March”, and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The “St. Louis Blues March” was a special request and a new selection for the Drum and Bugle Corps. Nobles who participated were Emilio Casarez, Bonnie Verzosa, Eric Fenton, Chuck Thompson, Red Stewart, Richard Wallace, Steve Nail and John Dunn. The performance earned the Corps a First Place Trophy in Stand Still. We are always looking for more musicians. Currently we are performing on brass instruments that are played in the band; Bb trumpets, Bb marching French horns, marching trombones, marching baritones, etc. We do have instruments that we can lend to you. We need low brass and percussion players. We also need percussionists and we have drums for you to play. We are a very low-pressure organization in terms of expectations and very flexible concerning time commitment. Thursday evening practices in Room 8 start at 7:30pm and end at 9:00pm. ALZAFAR GOLF UNIT By: Bobb Todd June started off great with our trip to TSA, where we had 12 individuals compete in the state golf competition. The competition was held at Three Rivers Golf course and a foursome from Alzafar took 2nd place. In addition to our placement on the podium, one of our golfers, from the winning foursome, won the closest to the pin competition. This golfer also won another award in that he got the oldest golfer trophy. Way to go Brother Ray Falke, who at the age of 90 proved that it is never too late to enjoy life if you keep on swinging. Much fun is planned for the next several months with a special event planned for September. Our Annual President’s Trip is scheduled for September 25th thru the 29th. We will be staying close to home, at Horseshoe Bay Resort, and each day will be filled with special activities for both our Brothers and their Ladies. Unfortunately, our event scheduled for July 21st, Cocktails with “The King” for Nobles and Ladies”, has been cancelled due to construction taking place in the Shrine Center. HONOR GUARD By: Al Aranda Congratulations to all the winners at TSA. I guess all the time spent practicing paid off, so all you Nobles stand up and receive a big atta boy!! Need to thank all the Nobles and the Ladies that supported the club on the 4th of July in Seguin. We had an awesome time like always. Everybody can lay back and relax, as we don’t have anything till September when we invade Boerne. We should look pretty spiffy then as we have lots of time to spare and be ready. Almost forgot, we do have a Stated Meeting in August. Let’s not forget to start getting ready for the Circus. Need to try and get some ads and the Buck-a-Lines. Before we know it, November will be here and as everybody is talking, this year is going at a high speed. Need to thank the lineup that supported the Club at the presentation of colors at Patterson Lodge. May the Good Lord look after all of us to keep us safe and in good health.

HOW DID I GET HERE? By Don Starnes
In 1965, I was stationed in the Canal Zone and assigned to the 4th Battalion, Mechanized, 20th Infantry as a Company Commander.

Our base was Fort Clayton on the Pacific side of the Canal. Our field training area was Rio Hatto which was located some 80 miles away from the Canal Zone. It was an old War Two air base used for air & sea rescue during the war. We would travel there overland and spent two to six weeks there training. One morning at Rio Hatto at breakfast I was talking to Captain Bruce D. Davis and others when the subject of Masonry came up. Among the several persons at the table, only

Bruce knew anything about the craft. He announced that he was a Mason and a member of Army Lodge No. 1105 in San Antonio. He described the location of the lodge on Grayson across from the Quadrangle. Several years later, I was a member of the Infantry Team and was responsible for assisting Reserve and National Guard units in the planning and conduct of their training. I spent most weekends traveling in Texas and Louisiana with those units as they trained. Following each visit, I compiled a trip report which was filed with several offices and units. As a personal gesture, I would mail a copy of the report to the commander so he would not be surprised at the content of the report. My office was in Building 44 on Grayson. I would walk down an alley to the post office on Pierce Avenue. My route took me past the parking lot of the lodge. One day I saw a brown Cadillac pull into the parking lot of the lodge and a man got out of the car. I introduced myself to the man, George Deets. I told him about Bruce and asked if I could visit him and the lodge. He replied in the affirmative and invited me in for a cup of coffee and an orientation. After an hour or so I left with a petition. Following the usual steps, I was initiated in September 1978 and passed the Master’s proficiency in February of 1979. Following that I joined the York and Scottish Rites and was created a Nobel in the Shrine. During the intervening years, I have enjoyed being a Mason as well as being part of the other organizations. Membership has made me a better person and the obligation of a Master Mason has helped me in my relationships with other men. Bruce is gone now. Before he passed away he saw the Nemnufs at work and decided that he wanted to be a clown. He petitioned Alzafar and became a member while I was the Recorder. Bruce and I served in the Canal Zone, attended the Infantry Officers Advance Course, and served in Viet Nam. You may say we had gone full circle.
PROVOST GUARD By: Floyd Barker Our monthly meeting was held on July 5th with 12 members and 7 wives present. High Priest and Prophet Marty Bartlett stopped by to thank us for our participation in TSA and congratulate us for winning a 1st Place trophy! Other guests included Bill Lyles, 2018 Oriental Guide candidate Jerry King and, finally, Michael and Marina Raymond’s granddaughter Audrey Grace Valdez. We dined on delicious brisket, potato salad and beans meal provided by Marshal David Hadley and I am sure his Lady Jan lent a helping hand! Noble Jorge Santana’s petition for membership was voted on and approved. His Lady’s name is Johanne. We are glad to welcome them both into the Provost Guard family! New shirts are being purchased by the unit for the shooters. If you are a shooter and were not present at the meeting, please contact Rich Orr to order a shirt. If you have not received information regarding the September 23rd shoot in El Paso you will be receiving it soon. Other upcoming Shrine events to remember are the 2nd Session Ceremonial on October 7th, the Gala on October 14th, and a Chili Cook-off on October 21st. Parade season is in full swing and your participation is appreciated. It is a great way to promote our fraternity. Congratulations to Terry (Colonel) and Mary Hoke on the arrival of their 1st grandchild. Jude Ellis Hoke was born in Austin on June 23rd. He weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz. and was 20” long. Congratulations to all the family! We are always looking for new members. All interested Shriners are welcome to join. Our monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday evening of each month. Cocktails and visitation begins at 6:00, dinner is served at 6:30 and our meeting starts at 7:00. Wives are always invited and encouraged to join us. ALZAFAR LEGION OF HONOR Jason S. West, PM 1st Lt. Commander As we are nearing the end of summer, mark your calendars for the next Stated Meeting of the Alzafar Legion of Honor. The LOH is looking forward to the next few months. Anyone that is a Noble and a Veteran is welcomed to visit with us and to join our unit. Our meetings are open to all Nobles and their families. Our meetings are on the 4th Thursday of each month in Room 4. Our next meeting is on 24 August 2017. We look forward to seeing you.
ALZAFAR ROD & GUN CLUB By: Charley “D” The Alzafar Rod & Gun Club was started for getting fishermen and hunters together for fishing trips and dove hunting trips. It was successful for many years and still would be if you the members of Alzafar Shrine would express an interest in and participate in these types of events. Also, when not on

trips, we meet socially every month on the first Sunday in the small dining room at 11:30 A.M. for social time followed by a meal at 1 P.M. and a short business meeting. We also have in the past had trips to Port Aransas for fishing or relaxing with our ladies and usually stayed at Port Royal which was nice. To continue with these trips, it is up to you to show enough interest as well as attendance to justify them. You can make them happen and you will find a lot of enjoyment along with a lot of good fellowship and socializing. We were dark in July but will start up again on August 6th. Please plan to attend if possible as we need your attendance to survive as a club. Another item that we do as a club and it is the result of the money we spend for the meal as well as our monthly drawings at the meetings, is to support the Alzafar Hospital Transportation Fund along with supporting other units in their fund-raising projects therefore, we do a lot of good for the Shrine. If you are not a member of the club, come on out and try us as you might just like us as we would be happy to have you at one of our meetings. A member only dove hunt is scheduled for Sept. 9th at Jerry Kings just west of town and close by. For details contact Jerry King or Craig Noyes. It should be a fun time. We lost a long-time member of the Rod & Gun Club at the end of June, Noble Abner Ross, and we ask that the Grand Master above give comfort to his family during their time of sorrow. RV CLUB By: Dave Browne The June rally was held at the Quiet Creek RV Resort in Fredericksburg. June is usually the best month for Fredericksburg peaches, but alas there were not enough chilling hours for the peach crop, so peaches were very rare. That did not stop us for having fun at this rally. We had many restaurants to choose from. We decided to have a group dinner at the Fredericksburg Brewing Co. The food was very good and the beer was even better. Many went the tourist route and visited the historic sites close by. If you like to visit winery’s, there are at least 19 between Fredericksburg and Stonewall. There is also a bourbon distillery at Hye that is interesting to visit. The July rally will be held at the Peach Country RV Resort, located in Stonewall. Their rally hall has a porch in the front with rocking chairs where you can while away the day. Our August rally will be held at the Schulenburg RV Park in Schulenburg. The dates are Aug 17th through 20th. The painted churches are well worth a self-guided tour. If you have a RV and want to have a lot of fun in a relaxed atmosphere with Brother Nobles and their Ladies, come out and rally with us. I know you will have a great time. ALZAFAR ROUSTABOUTS By: Charley “D” Yes, we are still a viable unit of Alzafar Shrine that is open to any member to join even though he might belong to other units. Our main purpose is to work at the circus as that was what we were formed to do. We were started in 1962 and did all the riggings, took care of clothing as well as other items of work at the annual Shrine Circus. We now sell tickets for the animal rides and other floor attractions at the circus every year. We also perform maintenance work on the Temple when requested by the Potentate that can be done by our members that are excellent craftsmen. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month and have a meal with a short business meeting. You meet and make a lot of friends and enjoy a lot of fellowship by belonging to a unit like the Roustabouts. The dues are very expensive as you do not pay any nor an initiation fee. We encourage any one that is not a member of a unit to come out and visit with us as you might like our program and join us as we would love to have you as a member. So, it is adios to all our friends, amigos, or compadres until the next time. Stay safe!

The day begins with tiled Masonic Degree by the Native American Degree Team from Oklahoma in full Native American regalia under the auspices of Kendall Lodge # 897 of Boerne at 9:00 am. The Chili Cook-off, along with lunch, games, music, booths, bounce-house rides, raffles, and refreshments will run throughout the day, culminating with a free dinner and dance that evening. This event and all food provided is free to everyone. The emphasis is on fun, while at the same time, introducing our friends and family to the family orientation of Masonry. It is to honor from where we all call home, Masonry. If you have a fund-raiser going on bring your tickets and sell them at the picnic or in your chili cook-off booth and it’s all free!
