Welcome everyone to this year’s Diez-y-Seis Celebration on the Lockhart Historic Square! It has been more than 200 years since Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla read the Grito de Hidalgo to launch the Mexican War of Independence against Spain. It was Father Hidalgo who used the image of the Virgin de Guadalupe on a staff to symbolize the Mexican Liberation movement. This year, our community gathers to commemorate this occasion with a fun filled family tradition. Friday will feature the annual kickoff welcome by Caldwell County Greater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Marisa Islas, with food and arts and crafts booths. There will be a carnival for the kids and music provided by DJ Ortiz Sounds. Grammy Award nominees Jaime y los Chamacos will provide Friday night’s entertainment. Saturday will be an all day affair with more food, music, arts and craft booths. The carnival will be in full swing. A member of the Mexican Consulate will perform “El Grito.” After the crowing of the Diez y Seis Queen, Badd Boyz del Valle will pack the Square. Our businesses on the square will be open as usual, with a wide variety of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities. So come on down to the Square for a warm welcome, cool refreshments, great music and give a big thanks to the Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce! Sincerely, Lew White Mayor, City of Lockhart

Jaime y los Chamacos Jaime Y Los Chamacos popularity can be directly attributed to 30 years of combined talent and outstanding ability to appeal to audiences of all ages. Creative choreography such as gravity defying spins while simultaneo u s l y playing the accordion a n d singing is the role trademark of Jaime De Anda.

Event goers and ticket holders often remain in front of the stage for an entire evening to experience the talent and magnetism of these young performers. tions, three Latin Grammy nomination, TTMA Show Band of the Year, male entertainer of the year and Conjunto Of The Year in the Valley’s Choice Awards, Tejano Globe Awards Best Male entertainter and Conjunto of the year, Tejano Roots Hall Of Fame for Conjunto Progressive of the year, just to name a few. This talented group of musicians combine the staples of Conjunto with traditional sounds of the accordion and bajo sexto and a touch of polka and huapango. For Los Badd Boyz, Conjunto music is a culture, it’s South Texas music, mainly. “Es la musica de la gente humilde, gente de la labor” (It’s the music of humble people, people who worked on the fields). Currently the Boyz are under the Latin World Records as to where they have released 2 albums “Eres Clicka” and “Sonar.” In 2013, Los Badd Boyz del Valle were honored at the Tejano Music Awards when they won Conjunto Band of the Year. This is the first to come of many future awards and nominations. “We’re working with groups we learned from and listened to on the radio, so it’s an honor.” Thus far, the Boyz have shared the stage with Ricky Naranjo y Los Gamblers, Los Palominos, Los Dos Gilbertos, La Mafia just to name a few.
