Exposure Inland Fishing Charters By Nick Lapre Just because summer is hot is South Louisiana doesn’t mean the fishing isn’t. Here in Buras, Louisiana at Southern Exposure Inland Fishing Charters we have been putting big smiles on many faces. The tables have been full with alot of big trout and many redfish. On the east side of the Mississippi River known as Black Bay has produced many great trips for the guides and clients after Tropical Storm Cindy. The storm pushed some much needed salty water along with some great speckled trout. The west side of the river along the Empire Jetties has been on fire with many fish over 4 and 5 pounds coming off of them along with many redfish. This year has been surprising consistent on the west side with the light winds and ability to fish the rocks and surrounding islands to fill the boxes. The baits of choice this season has been live shrimp and Matrix shad in a variety of colors such as Lemonhead, Ultraviolet, and Purple Haze. Rigging of the bait has been under a Boat Monkey Float with a 1/4 oz jig head or tight lining a 1/4 oz jig head with one of the Matrix Shad. If you want to come to Louisiana and Experience The Delta with some of the best dishes in the south give us a call at 504-250-9887 and we can help you with an experience of a lifetime, memories and big smiles. You can look us up at www.SouthernExposureFishing.com

First weekend in September in most parts of the State of Texas is the kickoff for Dove Hunting. As a hunter you can hardly wait to go out and try to get your limits on White Wing/ Mourning Dove. The most important thing in hunting is always “Safety” and this writer stresses this all the time. Especially with bird hunting where the angles of the shots and the inexperienced KXQWHUV ZDQWLQJ WR VKRRW ORZ À\LQJ ELUGV these are all recipies for disaster for the inexperienced hunter. Always make sure of your surroundings and where other hunters DUH ORFDWHG LQ \RXU DUHD 6KRWJXQV XQOLNH ULÀHV cover a larger area as the shells for shooting birds requires many BB’s or Steel Shot as it is referred to in order to improve the shooters chances of bringing down the bird with one shot. Dove hunting is a great oportunity for you to teach and learn about these birds. The difference in both species is important to learn and recognize as strict enforcement of the daily bag limits are in place during the hunting season. You are allowed to make some mistakes during White Wing Season which is why you are allowed to shoot some Mourning Dove and after that only White Wing Dove.
