After a full legislative process, Senate Bill 238 renamed the entire system of technical colleges in the state of Utah. Dixie Applied Technology College, or DXATC as we’ve been known since 2001 became Dixie Technical College or Dixie Tech for short.

November 2017 is a history making month for Dixie Tech. For the first time since its establishment, all programs will reside together at one central campus! A new 100,000 SF professional building and a new 62,000 SF industrial building will join the Dixie Tech Emergency Response Training Center (11,000 SF) on the newly named Tech Ridge Drive to complete the permanent campus. The new campus will offer 24 accredited certificate programs to prepare students for rewarding careers as well as a variety of short training classes to upgrade skill-sets.

WELDING The Welding Technology program will be taught in a brand new lab outfitted by Lincoln Electric to prepare students for American Welding Society (AWS) certifications. Students will use welding and cutting processes to join parts according to blueprints or written specifications in the following industrial skill areas: gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), air carbon arc gouging (ACAG) and air carbon arc cutting (ACAC).

The Automotive Technology program at Dixie Tech provides students with the opportunity to increase their automotive mechanics skills in order to pursue a career as an Automotive Technician. Career path courses are taught to National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards to prepare students for certification tests. This program will be taught in a state-of-the-art auto shop located on the new Dixie Tech Campus.

collision repair The Collision Repair program at Dixie Tech is aligned with the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR). Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible for I-CAR ProLevel testing. The collision repair courses will provide instruction in the fundamentals of repairing vehicles damaged in a collision. Students will have the opportunity to specialize in either Refinishing or Non-Structural repair. Upon completion of the core and specialized courses, each student will enter into a 200-hour externship to further their specialized skills.

PIPE FITTING & INSTALLATION 101 COURSE BEGINNING EARLY SPRING 2018 Local employers have jobs available NOW for those who have basic skills and knowledge in underground utility installation. The course will cover best practices to successful installation of underground wet utilities. Students will learn jobsite safety procedures, proper tools and equipment used for cutting, rigging, delivering pipe and other structures. Introduction to elevations, gaskets, joints, common pipe fittings, trench safety, foundation stabilization, bedding, dewatering, and testing the piping used in projects.

1/29 - 3/7 M & W 6 - 9 pm Basic understanding of electricity with use of National Electrical Code that pertains to renewable energy fields. *Prerequisite for Solar Photovoltaic Basic

3/26 - 5/9 M & W 6 - 9 pm Provides an overview of the 3 basic solar power system applications, primarily focused on grid direct systems. Prerequisite: EPAE class

Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding. This basic class caters to the each student at their individual level of experience. Fee includes all class materials.

The online BLS Healthcare Provider e-class must be completed and the Certificate of Completion printed and brought to class.
ACLS Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support is for doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare professionals who are required to have this level of training. The pre-course section from the Provider Manual must be completed and the Certificate of Completion printed and brought to class.
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support teaches to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest. Geared for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals who need this level of training.
