We are living in a time that seems to have the whole world racing to its complete anilation. Every one of us have endured sad and distressing times in our lives. Some of us have even suffered very traumatic events while the rest of the world kept “smelling the roses” Everything seemed balanced and life was good for the most part. But what now? A dear, lifelong friend called me a few days ago. She was hysterical and felt she was having a nervous breakdown and asked me to pray for her. The world situation has gotten her to the point that she is doubting everything in her life. She is mourning the fact that her grandchildren seem to have no regard for conservative values and is convinced that no one will make the rapture with her. (which brings up another point) Will there be a rapture as most of us have been taught or will we live through these terrible times until Jesus returns to the earth. It used to be a question of the rapture “pre-trib, mid trib or post trib” Now I am hearing Bible Scholars say that the “Rapture” is not in the Bible, something that my son has been telling me for years. I worry about my grandchildren also even though they profess Christianity and have very conservative Christian values, but they are also falling for these end times conspiracy theories, and they are witnessing the pure evil that is everywhere. I have been strong in my beliefs all of my life and now I am confused and constantly wanting to be assured of my walk with God. We are living in evil disturbing times, and I pray we all make it to the end.

What It Really Means to Be Lukewarm You’ve probably heard people say, “You can’t be lukewarm or Jesus will spit you out.” But that’s actually a misunderstanding of Revelation 3. Let’s look at what Jesus was really saying. In this passage, Jesus is addressing the church in Laodicea, and He uses their water system as an illustration. Hot water was known for healing. Cold water was refreshing. But the lukewarm water in Laodicea was contaminated, it made people sick. So when Jesus says they are “lukewarm,” He’s not talking about lacking passion or emotion. It’s not about how long you pray, how hard you worship, or whether you’re “on fire enough.” The real issue was self reliance. The Laodiceans said, “We are rich; we don’t need anything.” They trusted in their own strength, their own status, their own works. That’s what spiritual lukewarmness truly is: living as if you don’t need Jesus depending on yourself instead of him. But look at how Jesus responds. He doesn’t say, “You’ve failed, and you’re finished.” Instead, He invites them: “Come to Me. Buy gold refined by fire. Let me clothe you. Let Me open your eyes.” The solution isn’t to try harder or to muster up more spiritual effort. It’s to surrender, to depend fully on him. Then He says, “I stand at the door and knock.” That’s not rejection; that’s pursuit. He’s not casting you out, He’s inviting you in. So don’t let anyone use this verse as a fear tactic. “Lukewarm” doesn’t mean you weren’t passionate enough; it means you were trying to live without relying on Jesus. His heart for you is simple: Stop striving. Open the door. Let Him be your source of life. Lo que realmente significa ser tibio Probablemente hayas escuchado a la gente decir: “No puedes ser tibio o Jesús te escupirá”. Pero eso es en realidad un malentendido de Apocalipsis 3. Veamos lo que Jesús realmente estaba diciendo. En este pasaje, Jesús se dirige a la iglesia en Laodicea, y usa su sistema de agua como ilustración. El agua caliente era conocida por la curación. Any parks not listed above that offer small picnic pavilions, picnic tables, or grills are available for use without a reservation on first come, first served basis only during normal park hours
JONES PARK
Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center is a premier 312-acre nature preserve open daily to visitors free of charge. The park features a variety of plant and wildlife species, white sand beaches along Spring Creek, swamps and sloughs with century-old cypress trees, and a pristine floodplain located in a hardwood and pine forest. All features are accessible by over eight miles of paved, handicap-friendly pedestrian trails and several unpaved primitive trails. The Spring Creek Greenway, with over 16 miles of paved trail system along Spring Creek, is also accessible from the park’s Judy Overby Bell Trail and Jones Bender Trail.
The Davy Crockett National Forest The Davy Crockett National Forest, named for the legendary pioneer, contains more than 160,000 acres of East Texas woodlands, streams, recreation areas, and wildlife habitat. Located in Houston and Trinity Counties,

Humble ISD high schools offer 40 programs of study and 179 CTE courses that provide training in barbering, culinary arts, criminal justice, health sciences, information technology, to name a few. When Hearing Meets Faith

Whether it’s a friend, a neighbor, or a loved one, hearing loss touches more lives than we often realize. For me, it became personal when my uncle began struggling to hear even the simplest sounds. At first, it was subtle—missed words in conversation, the television volume creeping higher and higher. But soon, it became undeniable: my uncle could no longer hear anything I said. I remember the frustration in his eyes, the way he’d nod along to conversations he couldn’t follow, the isolation that slowly crept in. Determined to help, I made an appointment with an audiologist. After testing, she confirmed that his hearing had significantly deteriorated. Hearing aids were ordered, and I felt a wave of relief. Finally, I thought, everything will go back to normal. But it didn’t. The audiologist explained something I hadn’t considered: hearing aids don’t instantly restore hearing—they retrain the brain. My uncle had to learn to hear again. He needed to read aloud, practice lip reading, and engage in listening exercises. It was a journey that required patience. Over the following weeks, I began to see similarities—one that reached beyond the physical and into the spiritual. Romans 10:17 (NLT) says, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Just as my uncle needed to retrain his ears and brain to hear again, so too do we need to train our hearts to hear the voice of God. Faith doesn’t spring up overnight. It grows as we listen and speak the Good News—again and again. Reading Scripture, hearing testimonies, listening to sermons—these are the spiritual “hearing aids” that tune our hearts to God’s promises for our lives. Just like my uncle’s journey, it takes time. It takes repetition. It takes patience. Consider Mary, the mother of Jesus. When the angel told her she would give birth to the Messiah, she didn’t hear something easy. She heard something impossible. Yet, she believed. Her faith wasn’t based on comfort—it was based on trust in God. She heard the Word, and she received it. That’s the kind of faith that grows when we keep listening, even when it’s hard. Even when the message challenges us. Even when it feels like silence surrounds us. Remember: Keep listening. Keep speaking the Word of God because faith is forming in us.

THE GIFT OF KINDNESS There’s no time of year that fills our heart with joy quite like this time of year. We hurry and scurry around with one goal in mind: To bring someone else joy. But there is one gift that can be given every day of the year – the gift of kindness. Kindness is the greatest gift you can give and receive. Recently a friend took his daughter to lunch at Luby’s. They were sitting at the table when he suddenly got up and walked away. His daughter turned to watch where he was going. He had walked over to the cashier and told her he wanted to pay for lunch for two police officers who were standing in front of her about to pay for their meal. His daughter was so touched by his action, that she took a picture and shared it on social media. He did not do it for recognition. He was acknowledging the daily sacrifices and challenges officers face, making them feel appreciated to counteract the often-negative interactions they encounter. My co-worker, who is a single mother, shared the story of when she was in the store with her young son, and she commented to a lady in line next to her how pretty her purse was. The lady thanked her and my friend continued to pay out at the register for her groceries. When she walked out to the parking the lady with the purse was waiting on her. The lady had gone to her car and emptied out her purse and gave the purse to my friend. She said she wanted her to have it. The lady did not know at that time the struggle my friend was going through and the encouragement this act of kindness brought to her. It reminded me of my own experience when our equipment had been vandalized during a time we were struggling in our business. A stranger heard about it and sent a letter telling us they heard about our loss and wanted us to know that were saddened by what had happened to us. There was also $50.00 inside. There was no return address, just our name and address written neatly on the envelope. I still have the letter today. It is a reminder that despite the challenges and obstacles we face at times, compassion and goodness still exist. Kind acts don’t require grand gestures. Holding a door, offering a compliment, or simply smiling at a stranger are small actions that can turn someone’s day around, renewing their faith in humanity, reminding them that they have value and are not alone. The greatest thing about the gift of kindness is that it lingers and continues to uplift others long after you gave it. “You can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness.” ―Anne Frank
Paula Enloe worked as a legal assistant for over 25 years and is a certified family law mediator. She is the author of the book “Lessons From My Mirror - Change Begins With Me.” Paula and her husband Noble, began having Bible Studies in their home when Covid-19 restricted public gatherings in church buildings. When their group began to grow, they founded the Family Worship Center of Plum Grove, Texas. In 2022, they moved into a building but continue to keep the home setting inside with couches, tables and chairs. Their motto is “Doing Church Differently”. They count it as their greatest privilege to share the love of Jesus to each person they come in contact with daily.
