WELCOME TO FITE NITE Theta Lambda Alumni Association & Kappa Sigma Proudly Present the 56th Annual Fite Nite Every spring since 1957, Texas State students and organizations have looked forward to participating in one of the longest-standing and successful traditions of any college campus in Texas: The Theta Lambda Alumni Association - FITE NITE! Famous for showcasing some of the most “adrenalized” boxing in Texas, Fite Nite has grown into one of the largest collegiate boxing events in the nation. Every year we consistently draw thousands of fans, including sports celebrities and regional governmental officials. Fite Nite is an officially sanctioned event by USA Boxing – South Texas Amateur Boxing Association. Fite Nite was originally held in the old Evans Auditorium on Texas State’s West Campus. The event began as elimination-style where contestants fought one another until only one winner was left standing. Due to popularity and increased attendance, the event eventually moved to the Hays County Civic Center. Over the years, the format has evolved into what is today, a fully sanctioned amateur boxing event. After an unfortunate - and now infamous - altercation amongst the crowd of over-zealous spectators, the event was forced to move away from San Marcos in 1987. Having been held in various locations ranging from Buda to Schertz over the last 30 years, Fite Nite was proud to move to Downtown San Marcos in 2015. This year, we are excited to have Fite Nite in the ballroom of the Embassy Suites by Hilton on Friday, April 1, 2016! This year’s card promises to be filled with non-stop action with fighters representing Greek Organizations, Boxing Gyms, and other affiliates alike! Past participants include Kappa Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi, Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Chi, Sigma Tau Gamma, Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Tau Omega, Sigma Nu, Texas State Football, Boxing Kings, Diaz Martial Arts, and several other organizations. Nine years ago, Fite Nite was proud to feature its first girl-on-girl bout. Since then, girl-on-girl bouts have become one of the most anticipated bouts every year. This year will be no different with the return of Taylor Czernohus to defend her (1-0) Fite Nite Record! In addition to all the great action planned, Fite Nite has had the pleasure of donating to several local charities in and around the San Marcos area. Last year we donated a portion of the proceeds to Foundation Communities. Previous years we have contributed to the Hays County Food Bank. Thank you for your interest in the 56th Annual Fite Nite.
