Weird News

Roommate Accused Of Stealing $10 Million Lottery Ticket California - Adul Saosongyang, a 35 year old Vacaville resident was arrested for stealing a Lottery ticket worth $10 Million dollars from his roommate. The news was posted by Vacaville Police Department on their Facebook page. Back in December, a Vacaville shopper went to the Lucky Grocery Store on Peabody Rd to purchase a $30 Scratcher Lottery Ticket with hopes of winning a little extra cash for the holidays. The ticket turned out to be a winner - and he thought it was worth $10,000. He returned home and shared this wonderful news with his 2 roommates.

The next morning, he went to the Lottery’s District Office in Sacramento to collect his winnings, but was told his ticket was not only not a winner, but had been altered. He suspected one of his roommates must have stolen his ticked and reported it to the police. The next day his suspicions were proven true when his 35-year-old roommate Adul tried to cash in the winning ticket at the Lottery’s Sacramento Office. Adul was told his winning ticket was not worth $10,000 dollars, but was actually worth $10 million dollars! At this point, the Lottery was unaware this ticket had been reported stolen and began their investigation to obtain video surveillance footage of the original purchase, they were told the ticket might be stolen. This is when the Lottery Investigator and a Vacaville PD Detective began comparing notes and working together. They determined the roommate had purchased a similar Scratcher Lottery Ticket, altered it, and swapped it with the winning ticket. In January, the Lottery Investigator invited Adul to the Lottery’s Office to collect his winnings, but instead of him celebrating his big win, he was arrested by Vacaville PD Detectives for Grand Theft. 6

THE BINGO NUGGET // FEBRUARY 2019

Welcome to February, the month of love. We want to share the love with our new players by familiarizing you with our VIP program. All Golden Bingo Family Halls offer FREE VIP cards. By becoming a member of our VIP club, you are able to collect points and redeem them for great coupons. Every time you come to the hall to play and swipe your VIP card, you get 1 point. Once you collect 20 points, the computer will automatically print your $1-computer coupon. Our halls occasionally run specials where a swipe may give you as much as 5-8 points at a time, making it very easy to get the coupons! Our system also awards players that come to play on their birthday! As soon as you swipe, a special birthday coupon for a $1-computer will print out. You may visit as many halls as you want on your birthday to play, meaning you could get up to 5 coupons that day, depending on hall times and availability. For example, if you start the night by celebrating in a late night hall, a swipe AFTER midnight when it’s your actual birthday will award you a coupon. You could visit a morning, afternoon and evening hall on the same day (we are looking at you, Callaghan - Unique - Lucky) and you are already up to four coupons. Finish the day of your personal bingo extravaganzza by visiting a different late night hall to play and that’s a total of 5 coupons for you! In any case, most players would be able to get at least 2 coupons by visiting our sister Daytime and Evening halls available in all cities. Every $1-computer coupon is valid for two sessions, played consecutively at the same hall. Keep your coupon while playing so that you may use it again for the second session! With these amazing perks in our VIP program, everyone should be a member. Talk to your cashier or manager today to sign up!

Massachusetts Sports Betting Legalization On the Horizon With New Bills

Massachusetts - January was a big month for introducing new sports betting bills in the Northeast U.S. Massachusetts filed three bills in the Senate related to the legalization of sports betting. The three bills are titled, “An Act creating a Special Commission on Sports Gaming,” “An Act to regulate sports wagering,” and “An Act Relative To Sports Wagering.” The bills cover both in-person wagering (casinos and other establishments with gaming licenses) as well as an “Interactive sports wagering platform,” which would include the creation of mobile apps and websites as well as other forms of online sports wagering. All three bills are yet to be assigned to a Senate committee to be examined further. Legal sports betting in the state could generate annual gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $408.6m according to figures published by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission early last year. The White Paper on Sports Betting said this was a figure based on both retail and online betting being allowed. The lowest projection, which would see betting only allowed within casinos, would generate GGR of just $1448M. (IG) 2019 FEBRUARY \\ THE BINGO NUGGET

Mary Poppins is a kind of Supernanny who flies in with her umbrella in response to the request of the Banks children and proceeds to put things right with the aid of her rather extraordinary magical powers. Maximize Your Calendar by MELANIE TAWIL

If you’re anything like me you’re being pulled in a million different ways and you’ve taken the term “hot mess” as a term of endearment as you run across town with your five bags, not including your bags for your bags. You can definitely feel like your schedule is running you, not you running your schedule. In 2019, I took the goal to really take control over my time and see exactly where I spend my efforts of work and playtime (like yourself right now at the bingo). So, if you’re like me and tired of rushing everywhere, and want to make time management a goal - let’s go through these easy steps.

Step #1 Know your goals This can go really for anything in life. Why do you want to lose weight? What do you want to accomplish this week/month? Why do you want to get smarter with your money? The list is endless. Only engage in activities that support both your short-term and long-term goals. Meaning, if you guard your time and schedule and hold that as your true to word, don’t let other things compromise your sacred time. For example, if you’re trying to spend more time with your family, but you find yourself scrolling social media or at various events that are taking away time from the family - your time isn’t being run as efficiently as it can be. In business, you should only be doing activities or tasks that will either generate income or grow your business. So, while attending networking events can be fun but if you’re not adding future clients, collecting leads, interacting with other businesses or discovering brand new vendors and actually communicating with them, you’re going to not meet your business goals. 10

THE BINGO NUGGET // FEBRUARY 2019

Step #2 Become a List Master This may be for a future article but there is so much to be said about keeping your daily schedule on paper and on your smart device. Stick to your daily routine. Even schedule in your sleep. Keep a to-do list and make sure that you mark off the 3-4 most important and urgent tasks that need to be accomplished that day. If you have a job or lifestyle that requires you to contact individuals, keep a list of who you need to contact every single day. Lastly, keep a list of notes and reminders of what you need to discuss with your coworkers or even family members. Things can fall through the cracks but if you keep your list tidy, you’ll be able to make sure not as much can fall through the cracks.

Step #3 “Eat that frog” This term comes from author and business coach Brian Tracy. Mark Twain said that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, then you will have the satisfaction throughout the day that you did what is probably the worse things that is going to happen to you all day long. So, what is your frog? It will be the one that you’ve been putting off. Get in the habit of completing your major task in the morning and you will save your energy and focus for the smaller tasks at hand. When you start and complete this task, you will be releasing endorphins that will help you form a “positive addiction.”

Step #4 Learn the best two letter word “no” Look, we all know that we get shuffled around to events that quite frankly don’t “spark joy” and we’d rather be doing something else. Your work will suffer and you will get burned out. There is so much power in the word no. If you feel like people will get upset with you saying no, it’s ok. Think of it like you’re creating the best coworkers you will have around you. You will only take on things that you absolutely know you will have time for. You will be able to show up to places knowing that you are fully present wherever you are. 2019 FEBRUARY \\ THE BINGO NUGGET

Teaching your children the importance of saving money

by MORGAN SIGLER

MODERN MOM

Saving money is a habit that takes time to build, even some adults have yet to master this skill. Consider this, just 41% of Americans have savings set aside to cover emergency expenses. I personally want to teach my children how to save money and be financially responsible. The way our children learn these habits is from watching and learning from their surroundings. Although many schools attempt to teach basic financial literacy to students, the responsibility falls to the parents to apply those lessons in real life. Learning how to count change in the classroom is very different from getting a real allowance, opening a savings account, and creating a budget to help your kids buy the things they want. Here are a few FUN ways to teach younger children about savings: Pretend to spend - When your kids are in elementary school, set up a fake store or restaurant at home. Give them a certain amount of fake money and create scenarios, like buy five items with your money or buy three meals for less than $20. By learning how transactions work in a safe environment, they’ll understand them better in the real world. Play Monopoly - Board games can be a great way to introduce financial concepts and teach children how to balance spending and saving in a fun and interactive way. By seeing how much cash they have, kids will learn how to visualize money. You can also use fake money to explain the family budget. Make It a Game - Kids are often drawn to competition, so make saving money a game. Challenge them to save a designated amount each month. If they 16

THE BINGO NUGGET // FEBRUARY 2019

do it, they win a bonus from you. If they don’t, they don’t get anything extra. You can also add other incentives, like going to a movie or buying a new pair of shoes — whatever makes your kid motivated to win. Let Them Help At Yard Sales - Yard sales are a great place for children to see what it’s like to sell something. They can help before the event with pricing the goods and deciding what they want to sell. Allow them to help negotiate and collect money, and this will teach them how to make change quickly, market their goods, and feel confident in their abilities. Let Them Make Their Own Purchases - Giving kids an allowance can help them learn how good it feels to buy something they really want. For example, if you’re going on a family vacation or big trip, let them know they’ll be responsible for their own souvenirs. It will cut down on them asking you to buy something, and it will teach them the value of buying

things for themselves. Plus, it’ll make those decisions feel more real if they are making purchases using their own money. Save, Spend, Give Envelopes - Put money into the giving envelope first in order to teach them how important it is to give. Saving comes next, then spending. Teaching your child the envelope system lays the foundation for budgeting. They will learn about living on less than they make, giving, spending wisely, and having patience while they save toward a big goal.

You’re aware and awakened this month and are ready to ask the questions that need to be asked. You’re going to be taking this entire month at a “glass half full” mentality and you’re ready to just enjoy life. You’re living a truly rich life and you’ll be approaching life with zest.

You’re just bouncing all over the place this month. If you thought you could just shove your problems under the rug rather than identify them and deal with them, they’re going to come back raw. Accept that you’re going to be dealing with challenges. Take life one day at a time.

Get ready Aries, because this month is going to take you on a fast car ride whether you like it or not. You’re going to be going through the motions of things so quickly that you will not have time to second guess your actions. It will be a haze, but understand that nothing is permanent.

You’re going to be owning up to a lot of recycled items this month and going down memory lane. Be sure to take the time and thank the past for what made you the strong person you are today. You are more focused and know what you want than you ever have been before.

This month your relationships will be tested to the extreme. You’re going to find out who truly was in it for real or who was just trying to use your connections for their gain. Be sure to weigh out your friendships and see if they are more than just surface deep. Laugh at the small stuff.

“Boring” is a term you will be the exact opposite of this month. You can’t help but just be a beam of light to others around you and it’s contagious. Your efforts will bring out only the best in those around you. Your caring nature will be used this month as you go through the motions.

You’re wise with your money. You know exactly how to invest and make the market work for you. You’re guaranteed success this month, take advantage of the stars working in your favor. If you’re looking to relax this February, take moments out to put some self-care in.

You’re going for big things this month. Do not be afraid of making change happen. This will get uncomfortable and you will have to own up to the challenge. The stars want to see you succeed so just go for those things that make you nervous and second guess your sanity.

No, you’re not imagining things - people are watching you and it is worse than you suspected. This month you’ll be putting on your spy eyes and taking notes. Be gentle in reminding people about your need for privacy. It is no one’s business where you go or what you do.

You are incredibly ready for the spotlight this month. It’s almost as if every day is a walking talent show and you’re ready to shine your light brightly. New thoughts will be flowing through your being this month. You just need to let them go through the process of becoming a reality.

Fury is all that you can see and if you’re not careful, you will be all consumed by the raw emotion. Remember, you control your emotions. Don’t let them control you before you regret something forever. If you’re feeling the anger rise, go do something that brings you joy or gets the anger out.

Burn it down then raise it back up. Your life is like a crop where you need to destroy what you’ve planted to take in the rewards of the nutrition in the soil. This is the time to enjoy artwork but also to destroy the old, useless things. Take the time to recharge and motivate yourself.

When heart health and technology join forces it can only be good things for you. Last month at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, they partnered with the American Heart Association to offer doctors for the first time ever continuing education hours when attending conference meetings that were paired with the show that explored topics ranging from artificial intelligence to digital therapeutics and predictive analytics.

One of the new tools coming out are home monitors like the one from BPM Core, a multitasker that collects data like blood pressure and heart rate, but expands to take an electrocardiogram with the integrated digital stethoscope and aims to detect heart-valve irregularities that may indicate something like an arrhythmia. Health and wellness industry leader Withings is awaiting the FDA to clear this fun device that is the size of a coffee grinder, and it syncs with your smart phone and pushes the data to “Health Mate.” You can pair it with your Withings made smart scale and smart watch that will send health data directly to your Health Mate app for your next routine visit to your physician.

Medical professionals were excited to see these new techniques and tools being brought to the industry and allowing the medical community to grow with technology. Dr. Anne B. Curtis, cardiologist, was most excited to see wearables like smart watches that are now able to check vital signs like heart rate and sleep but now we’re seeing technology transform and be able to track for diabetics hypo- and hyperglycemia. With more data being available to individuals, people are now able to be more proactive in their health and wellness.

fibrillation, arrhythmia, and other concerns. Another amazing product that came out was the Heart Guide device that will monitor your blood pressure and when it hits the danger zone. Brought to you by Omron Healthcare, being able to monitor your blood pressure and see how it fluctuates during the day by diet, sleep patterns, activity level, and exercise. The Heart Guide was cleared by the FDA this past December. You will be dropping quite a penny for this one coming in at $499.00 Early detection and regular monitoring are key to preventing and managing heart diseases. With the ease of your smart device, you can now take control over your heart health.

Withings also came out with the Move ECG which you can also pair with your smart devices. At the budget friendly cost of $130, you can get an electrocardiogram reading by simply touching the sides of your watch. There is an app associated with this device. The information is helpful for those who want to monitor heartbeat for atrial 2019 FEBRUARY \\ THE BINGO NUGGET

The new year is upon us and with this comes new popular trends. Many of these trends are making comebacks and some are even twists on old favorites!

The Classic “Carmine” Red Lip This sexy, bold, look is making a comeback! To create a clean, sharp look first outline your lips with lipliner then apply the lipstick with a brush starting from the center and moving outwards. *Exfoliate and moisturize your lips regularly to give your lips a soft luscious appearance in any lipstick color!

Foundation Free Skin Yes, you read right ladies foundation free skin is another top makeup trend this year. By just using a small amount of concealer to cover up a few spots, help you achieve a naturally glowing and healthy looking skin tone. This year is all about clean skin and a great skin care routine!

Glowing Skin Add a touch of highlighter to your cheekbones and forehead. I like to use liquid or cream illuminators to keep the natural highlighted look.

The Sun-Kissed Look This look has definitely made a comeback! This means that bronzer is back in fashion, it gives you a light tan look and looks great paired with highlighter and peachy tones.

Eyes Winged eye liner is also sported in this year’s trend along with a delicate smoky eye using lighter coffee shades, this gives your eyes a subtle sensuous look. Eyelashes are also kept soft and feathery, stay clear of the thick clumping mascaras! 2019 FEBRUARY \\ THE BINGO NUGGET

The food is delicious. I’ve been a number of occasions, but I remember the very first time- I went with a group of my girlfriends after fitness class. The chicken and waffles GO HARD! And if you want, you can get a waffle that’s half red velvet and half traditional. Shrimp and grits....CONCRETE HARD! My homegirl had a pasta and that was littttttyyy! And they have alcoholic beverage with kool-aid. Took me back to the sweetness of poverty. Yum. Ery’thang good.

One of the best breakfast spots I’ve ever been too. The interior of the dining room is a throw back to the 70’s but still modern. Clients can sit in the patio with heaters in cold weather. The food is amazing, great menu, selection, and food. The quality of the food is high and the flavors are amazing. I ordered a ham Benedict and French toast. I asked for extra toasted hash browns and the best part, the hollandaise sauce. The English muffin was toasted, the ham was slightly dry and tough, but the runny egg added flavor a creamy texture. The hollandaise mixed with the egg and add the green hot sauce, fire!! Money!!! Very good.

We we’re on our way home from Port A and wanted good Mexican food. We had stopped in years ago and remembered they had great tacos. After stopping this morning we were reminded of why the food left a good impression the last time we visited. I had menudo and it was amazing. The meat was tender and the flavor was perfect. My husband had the breakfast carne guisada plate and it was very good! The meat was very tender and the portions are huge! The tortillas we’re large in size and very hot. I recommend this place if you are ever in corpus and want good home cooked food. The menu has a large selection and they sell lunch as well.

La Ideal Bakery

3310 1st St 77471 (281) 344-8160 www.laidealbakeryandcafe.com First time at ideal bakery. Plan to be back. Have good breakfast tacos. Only had one because they serve them very generously and had an empanada. The coffee was good not great. They also had tamales which I didn’t have but they looked good too(size and not greasy looking).more of a taco place than a bakery though.
