CISTERN - The quaint town of Cistern is located along State Highway 95, abut 12 miles northwest of Flatonia. Originally named Whiteside’s Prairie and then Cockrill’s Hill, the town known today as Cistern was ¿UVWVHWWOHGGXULQJWKHVRQDKLOO7KHODQGRZQers’ water wells contained such high concentrations of minerals that they were forced to build cisterns to trap rainwater. Today, the Cistern Country Store is a proud mainstay in Cistern. Located at 12604 State Highway 95, this historic store serves up delicious burgers, wings, and cold beer to their patrons. Live music and karaoke on weekends attracts a large crowd of happy GDQFHUVRQWKHLUROGZRRGHQGDQFHÀRRU'XULQJWKH week, the jukebox and pool tables entertain in this classic, family friendly, old school hangout. Cistern is worth the short drive.
CISTERN COUNTRY STORE

PRAHA-RXUQH\MXVWWKUHHPLQXWHVHDVWVRXWKRIWKHUDLOURDGWUDFNV that run parallel to Highway 90, and you’ll discover Praha, a tiny community listed in Lindsay Baker’s Ghost Towns of Texas. The present stone church was started in 1892; its ceiling and walls were painted by fresco artist Gottfried Flurry. It was dedicated in 1895. LA GRANGE – La Grange is nestled along the Colorado River and features history, beauty, festivals, museums, concerts, antiques, air shows, feasts, and an annual county country fair. Drive only 22 scenic miles to visit Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites, 414 State Loop 92. Open daily; the park is free to the public.
