DRIPPING SPRINGS’ CALITERRA COMMUNITY TO HOST 2016 PARADE OF HOMES™ Four builders to showcase $1.2 mil+ luxury custom homes

AUSTIN, TX— The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Austin has selected Caliterra, a beautiful 600-acre masterplanned community minutes from downtown Dripping Springs, as the next location for its flagship luxury home tour, the Parade of Homes™. This year’s Parade of Homes will take place October 28th through November 13th. The Parade of Homes showcases “The Leading-Edge and Best in Homebuilding” and Caliterra is leading the pack in Dripping Springs – an area prime for major growth over the next few years. Nestled in the picturesque Texas Hill Country, its natural scenic views, rolling topography and access to miles of Onion Creek shoreline make living here a oneof-a-kind opportunity. The Parade is being held in the gated Wildwood neighborhood of Caliterra, an 18 lot enclave of luxury homes located between two creeks and wooded greenbelts. Set along beautiful Onion Creek, Caliterra residents will enjoy over 250 acres of trails, greenbelts, parks and amenities including a Treehouse Park, multi-use indooroutdoor pavilion with band loft, sprawling event lawn, a fishing dock, creekside picnic pavilion and an Adventure Club Cabin. A Welcome Lodge with boutique coffee shop will be the hub of the community and overlook creative play areas including a children’s splash pad designed to incorporate the history of the land and the Dripping Springs ranching heritage. Future phases will include an expansive resort clubhouse, pools and gathering places with spectacular views, a 30-acre nature park, trails and natural play areas.

to participate in the 2016 Parade of Homes™ include Arbogast Custom Homes, Lake Travis Builders, Sommerfeld Construction and Sterling Custom Homes. “We are excited to host the 2016 Parade of Homes™ at Caliterra,” says Greg Rich with Allegiant Realty Partners, developers of Caliterra. “This community is a true natural paradise just 20 minutes from Austin’s robust economic hub; couple that with the Parade of Homes™ and this is really the next big thing in homebuilding.” The 2016 Parade of Homes™ is slated for October 28th through November 13th, 2016. Join our mailing list to stay informed on the latest news and updates. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.ParadeofHomesAustin.com Since 1953, the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Austin has served as the leading not-for-profit trade organization dedicated to residential construction and remodeling in Central Texas. With approximately 800 members, the HBA works with government, public, business and community organizations in five counties to protect every family’s right to home ownership. The HBA and its members work to ensure that those who protect us, teach our children, and provide essential services can afford to live here. The vast majority of new homes are purchased by middle-class families – the very people at risk of being priced out of our communities by rising taxes and government fees. For more information, visit www.hbaaustin.com .

“The region Southwest of Austin is booming so it is only natural that the HBA would partner with the developers of Caliterra to showcase what they are doing out here,” says HBA President Wes Wigginton. “We are impressed with all of this year’s builders and can’t wait to show off the latest in home construction and design this Fall.” Four luxury homes built by some of the finest home builders in Central Texas will be fully furnished and on display for thousands of visitors — an opportunity for attendees to marvel at the latest luxury home design, construction, technology, interior decor and landscaping trends. The homes will start at $1.2 million and range from approximately 3,800 to 4,400 sq. ft. The builders selected

SPICY SRIRACHA BURGER

In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly mix the ground chuck, sriracha, soy sauce, scallions and garlic. Divide the mixture into four to six equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Place on a sheet pan and refrigerate while you prepare the dressing and slaw. For sriracha dressing: whisk together the mayo, sriracha, vinegar, scallion and salt. Set aside in refrigerator until ready to serve.

For the slaw: toss together the slaw mix and cilantro in a bowl. Stir together the sriracha dressing, lemon juice, honey, vinegar, and salt. Pour over slaw mix and toss until well combined. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Prepare your grill for direct cooking over high heat. Brush and oil the grate before you begin cooking. Season the burgers liberally with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the burgers on the preheated grill and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side. Remove burgers from grill and place the buns cut side down on the grill for 1 minute or so until toasted. Assemble burgers to your liking spread with sriracha dressing and topped with slaw. Note: when using store-bought beef, always cook burgers to an internal temperature of 165ÂşF.

OKTOBERFEST MUSIKFESTLocal Live Music Revival In The Drip By Joseph Colletti

As the Central Texas summer heat quells, the longing for that first October night chill is right around the corner. What better way to enjoy that bite in the air than listening to local live music at Homespun’s 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Musikfest benefitting Helping Hands, Inc. Join family and friends for the weekend of October 7th, 8th, and 9th, to celebrate music, community, and charity. Homespun Kitchen and Bar on Mercer Street, has been supporting live music nightly. Owner, Randy Ford decided it was time to create a festival to give back to the community he endears, thus the birth of The Homespun Oktoberfest Musikfest Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to educate the community about different genres of music through experiencing these genres live and locally. This year’s event has expanded to three venues, and is expected to double in size. The festival will be hosting a number of bands and artists with a diverse sound palette including Blues, Reggae, Country, Latin, Jazz, and Singer Songwriters from around the area. Homespun is the main venue, hosting music everyday from 11am till midnight Friday and Saturday, ending Sunday at 3 with a ceremonial wrap party with free and discounted beer, BBQ pig roast, and other surprises in tow. Also, you cannot miss the groundbreaking of Dripping Springs only Beer Garden Pavilion to witness homegrown favorite Micah Wagner and Austin’s reggae pioneers, Mau Mau Chaplains headlining the weekend. Sleep Inn & Suites, another generous sponsor of the festival, will be hosting acts three days as well; so book your suite “In the Gateway to the Hill Country” and keep it on foot and ear. Twisted X Brewing Company opened up a 10,000 square foot brewery and tasting room in 2013, right down 150 in the Drip. They brew –Texas- American beers of high quality local products. As supporters of the local music scene and the community at large, the tasting room and patio at the brewery will serve as the third live music venue for the festival. Music will start at noon each day. Also, as a sponsor of the foundation, Twisted X’s killer cervesa, hopefully a Chuprahopra awaiting, will be proudly offered at all the events.

“So many sponsors have come out of the wood work to ‘pay it forward’ and support the community and their festival. We want to thank every musician, sponsor, and volunteer for all their contributions. The Fest has taken on a life of its own, and I feel proud to offer the musicians a platform to share their music with our community.” In addition to the gift of music, the foundation is proudly giving away two $500 scholarships towards books or expenses to deserved youth; details at the venue. And most importantly, the festival is benefitting Dripping Spring’s local chapter of Helping Hands, Inc. Helping Hands’ motto, “Neighbors helping Neighbors, “resonates through the community and is a mission of the festival. Patrons are encouraged to donate canned goods at the venues to supplement the contributions from the number of amazing sponsors to large to list. These sponsors have gone above and beyond to support the community. Just west of weird, a revival of the roots and soul of live music has sprung. Avoid the madness at the “other” festival, and visit the “only” festival, Homespun’s 2nd annual Oktoberfest Musikfest October 7-9th in The Drip.

Community: “A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” The organizers of Oktoberfest Musikfest feel blessed by the community outreach of sponsorship and support. Randy Ford states:

By Sydney Rush Since its founding in 2014, the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival has caused quite the sensation. Held on the historic Mercer Street in the heart of Dripping Springs, the central locality proves to be the heart of the festival’s success. With six participating venues this year, the festival will be featuring a variety of established and up-and-coming songwriters and artists performing original pieces. With such success in the past, the demand to play at the festival has increased drastically. This year hundreds of artists applied to perform during the weekend festivities and only a lucky 44 were chosen. With such demand between the artists and the fans, festival hours have lengthened and anticipation is higher than ever. Participating venues include The Barber Shop, The Mercantile, Mercer Street Dance Hall, Mazama Coffee Company, Sidecar Tasting Room and Hudson’s on Mercer. Worthy of note is Chad Hudson, owner of, you guessed it, Hudson’s, who not only participates as a venue owner, but as a performer as well. With his venue able to hold 200 people with a state of the art lighting system, a fine selection of beer and wine and plenty of sitting and standing room to enjoy the show, it’s sure to be a great time.

During the festival, all shows Friday-Sunday are free. The lone exception is the Saturday night Headliner show at Mercer Street Dance Hall. Unfortunately that one is already sold out so if you’re interested in attending next year, you better act fast! Headlining this year is multi-Grammy winning, Austin City Limits music Hall of Fame inductee, Rodney Crowell. Rodney’s songs have been covered by artists such as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings to Etta James and George Strait. Also headlining is Drew Womack, who wrote Kenny Chesney’s first number one hit “She’s Got it All”. But don’t stop there! The list of talented artists goes on and on in what is sure to be a great time in Dripping Springs, Texas. So mark your calendar for October 14th-16th and stop by Mercer Street for this year’s Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival.

Hands down, one of the coolest aspects of the festival is that the profits go directly to a charity called Kids In A New Groove, an organization that provides mentors, musical instruction and instruments to kids in foster care. Kids In A New Groove provides an instructor to not only cultivate the kids’ creative skills, but who can act as a role model as they teach kids a healthy creative outlet.
