Reconstruction work began in 2013 when Andrew and Robin Rudderow offered the building to the Deanville community. Local residents, Bennie and Tammie Jones, donated land on which it was placed. Thus began a seven year restoration project.

The original grand opening date was scheduled of June 2020. However, Covid caused the opening to be postponed until April 2022. So, mark your calendars and plan on attending this gala event. And come meet our twelve Burleson County orphans that will be guaranteed to warm your hearts. For more information call Tommy Ryan 979-535-4719. Between 1854 and 1930, nearly 250,000 homeless and orphaned children living in New York City were placed on trains that delivered them all across the nation, according to organizations such as Children’s Aid of NYC.

These little train passengers were destined to become either indentured servants, or adopted children. At least 12 of those boys and girls were dropped off at train depots, in Burleson County. The Deanville Heritage Foundation wants to honor these 12 children. The historical group recently commissioned the creation of 12 child statues, which will be featured at the upcoming museum opening in Deanville Depot.

The Heritage Foundation hopes to unveil the statues in late spring, as part of the museum’s grand opening.
