She enjoys spending time with her family, DIY projects, being outside and baking. From balancing work, kids and life she will guide us on the modern journey of parenthood (best she knows how). She hopes to inspire all types of moms.

Nevada Gaming Board Chairwoman Wants Masks on Casino Visitors Sandra Douglass Morgan, chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and several social media posters want to see more players and visitors to the state’s casinos wearing masks and practicing social distancing. The comments come as many Las Vegas gaming venues complete their first week of resumed operations on Thursday, June 11. Masks are optional, but recommended for guests in the recently reopened casinos after months of shuttering because of the coronavirus. Venues must provide them to those who ask for facial coverings. “Obviously, all the employees at the properties I visited [over the past weekend] were wearing masks,” Morgan told KVVU TV, a local Las Vegas station, on Wednesday. “But I would have liked to see more patrons wearing masks, in all honesty.” She added that the concern is something “we’ve reiterated with our gaming licensees as well.” Morgan did not give specific percentages on how many casino visitors were wearing masks. About half of the guests were seen wearing masks at casinos visited by Las Vegas Review-Journalreporters last Thursday and Friday. Some guests also violated social distancing regulations. But she noted that the board wants to see casinos encourage visitors to wear them, and recounted how multiple health professionals warned during a board workshop last month that everyone at the casinos should be wearing masks, given the risk of COVID-19.
Idaho County Election Determined By Coin Toss The winner of a deadlocked Idaho race for precinct committeeman came down to heads vs. tails on Wednesday. Last month, Republican contenders Carol R. Davey and Brock Frazier each received 36 votes for the position in Ada County’s Precinct 1915. The results were officially counted on June 2. Idaho law has stipulated that tied votes in either primary or general county elections will be decided before the county clerk by “a toss of a coin.” The law dated back to 1970. Davey called heads when given the option by Ada County Clerk Phil McGrane, but the flip came up tails, indicating a Frazier victory. A Susan B. Anthony dollar was used for the event to commemorate the upcoming 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the passage of the 19th amendment. The public was permitted to observe the coin toss, which also was posted to the county’s elections Facebook page.
Hello, bingo lovers! This is looking to be an exciting summer for Golden Bingo Family and despite all of the craziness that is happening around us, we are happy to be able to share some good news! We plan on opening a few bingo halls this summer! At the moment of writing this, we are working hard on getting Killeen Bingo set up. Killeen Bingo will be playing in the evenings and we are happy we are expanding north of Austin to serve a new community. The second hall we are working on currently is Seguin Daytime Bingo. As the name would suggest, this hall will be playing daytime bingo, to complement our current Seguin Bingo which is an evening hall. These new halls mean that not only will more people get the chance to enjoy playing bingo, but we will be able to support new charities working in these communities. It makes us incredibly humbled when we see the amazing work our charities are doing. A big thank you goes to all of our players! Thank you for supporting us, our charities and doing so - safely! HOW TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
By now, we are slowly coming to terms with the fact that novel coronavirus is a reality we have to live with. The disease caused by it is an illness for which we currently have no cure and also no vaccine. Unfortunately, vaccines are the fastest and most efficient way to strengthen our immune system. While we learn to mitigate the risks by altering our behaviour (wearing masks in bingo halls, increasing how often we wash our hands, keeping physical distance from people not members of our household), there are several ways our immune systems could get a boost, too. KEEP A PLANT-BASED, HEART-HEALTHY MENU Choose foods first as your source of vitamins and nutrients. Unless your healthcare team directs you to take a vitamin or supplement, you likely do not need one. The best way to include these nutrients is by eating whole foods. Make sure your meals incorporate a variety of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, legumes, beans, lean protein and healthy fats. Eat small, frequent meals throughout the day to stay energized and to ensure your body is getting enough calories, proteins and nutrients. Protein acts as a “builder” and the body uses it to build and repair tissues. Protein is also vital for making hormones and enzymes that promote the body’s daily functions and supports a healthy immune system. In addition, drinking eight to 10 glasses of fluids every day is one of the most effective ways to flush waste from your body and support the health of your immune system. POWER UP WITH PHYTOCHEMICALS Fruits, vegetables and other plants contain naturally occurring substances known as phytochemicals. Phytochemicals give fruits and vegetables their color and flavor. Phytochemicals act as soldiers in the immune system to protect the body from damage. Studies show that phytochemicals help support the: • Immune system • Creation of healthy cells • Death of damaged cells (such as cancer cells) 10

MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR LIFESTYLE. AND STICK TO THEM. In addition to using nutrition to boost your immune system, you can also make changes to your lifestyle to help support health and immunity. These include: Decrease your exposure to bacteria, viruses and germs. Aim for 7 hours or more of sleep every night. If your sleep is interrupted, try a 30-minute nap during the day. Reduce stress by taking time to do things you enjoy such as spending time with family, playing bingo or watching your favorite show. If your feelings of anxiety or depression make it difficult for you to complete daily tasks, talk to your healthcare team. There is no magic pill which will result in a robust immune system. In the end, it boils down to the old saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body”, but instead of mind, think immunity. Our bodies need us to take care of them, so they could take care of us.
GRILLED VEGGIES This has become a summertime family favorite. Everything about this recipe is fantastic. We love the vinaigrette dressing and the way it complements the veggies. So excited to finally learn how to grill vegetables right!
INGREDIENTS
• 12 green onions, roots cut off
• 3 red bell peppers, seeded and halved
• 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 3 yellow squash (about 1 pound total), sliced
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper
lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles • 3 zucchini (about 12 ounces total), sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles • 3 Japanese eggplant (12 ounces total), sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles • 12 cremini mushrooms • 1 bunch (1-pound) asparagus, trimmed
• 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar • 2 garlic cloves, minced • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh basil leaves • 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
INSTRUCTIONS 1. Place a grill pan over medium-high heat or prepare the barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush the vegetables with 1/4 cup of the oil to coat lightly. Sprinkle the vegetables with salt and pepper. Working in batches, grill the vegetables until tender and lightly charred all over, about 8 to 10 minutes for the bell peppers; 7 minutes for the yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, and mushrooms; 4 minutes for the asparagus and green onions. Arrange the vegetables on a platter. The key to getting those great grill marks is to not shift the vegetables too frequently once they’ve been placed on the hot grill. 2. Meanwhile, whisk the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, parsley, basil, and rosemary in a small bowl to blend. Add salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle the herb mixture over the vegetables. Serve the vegetables, warm or at room temperature. JULY 2020 \\ THE BINGO NUGGET

4th of July Crafts Your 4th of July BBQ will look a little different this year. Ahhh, the joys of gathering around the grill with your closest friends as you enjoy the extra day off from work on a day that finally feels like summer. The traditions of your 4th of July barbecues may be tried and true, but in the times of a pandemic, they’re bound to look a bit different this year. At least, they should.
Recycled Tin Can Windsocks Supplies: • Empty and clean tin cans (with tops and bottoms removed) • Red Ribbon • White Ribbon • Twine or string • Blue indoor/outdoor paint • White indoor/outdoor paint • Star stencil • Paint brush • Glue
1. Start by painting your tin cans blue. You may need more than one coat in order to get good coverage. 2. Use your star stencil and white paint to add stars onto your tin cans once the blue paint is fully dry. There is no need to plan things out, just randomly place your stars. 3. Place a small dab of hot glue inside the can near the top. Place the twine into the glue and repeat this process two more times to form a triangle and tie twine
together at the top making a loop at the top from which to hang the windsock. 4. Cut the ribbon into strips about 15 inches long. I used a 30 foot roll of each color and that was just enough to cover our four cans. 5. Place a dab of glue inside the bottom of the can and add the ribbon on top. You will want to alternate red and white ribbon to simulate the stripes of the flag.
Hand print American Flag T-Shirts for the family This craft is simple and you can get the whole family involved! Lay each t-shirt on flat surface, I like to wrap mine around cardboard. Apply thick layer of blue paint on left hand and press hand onto shirt (then rush children to the sink immediately to wash their hands). Last step is to paint the red stripes. If you want to get really fancy you could add some glitter or stars!
