San Antonio Area saw two new MILLIONAIRES in October! San Antonio - The Texas Lottery Commission announced that Norma Munoz from Floresville claimed the second-tier, million-dollar prize from the game Instant Millionaire. Munoz purchased her winning ticket from Squeaks Convenience Store, 1109 F St. in Floresville. Her prize is the sixth of 40 second-tier $1 million prizes available in the game, which has a $2.5 million jackpot, according to the Texas Lottery’s website. Munoz won her ticket just days after Joyce Reininger from New Braunfels cashed in a $1 million prize from the same game. She purchased the ticket at Pit Stop Food Mart #1, 974 N. Walnut Ave. in New Braunfels. In August, a San Antonio resident also won $1 million from Instant Millionaire, according to previous reports. It seems there is lots of good luck in our San Antonio air, so do not forget to try yours out in your favorite bingo hall! (IG)

Life-size pope cutout stolen by woman during church bingo night A life-size cutout of Pope Francis has been returned to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church after it was stolen during a bingo fundraiser. The police in Washington Township, Gloucester County, wrote “UPDATE: THE POPE HAS BEEN RETURNED” on their Facebook page atop a previous plea for the return of the pontiff. The suspect in the papal theft was described as a woman, approximately 70-years-old and on oxygen. A witness also placed two other women with her in a white Audi leaving the scene with his holiness. 10 cups dried unseasoned bread cubes (found in the bread section at the
margarine to keep it dairy-free •
1 medium onion, chopped

3 celery stalks, cut crosswise in ¼” slices
•
½ teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon ground sage
SERVES 8

INSTRUCTIONS 1.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.
Melt butter in a large pan. Saute onions, celery, salt, sage, and thyme for 5 minutes on medium heat. Turn off heat. Add bread cubes and gently stir them into the onion mixture.
3.
Slowly pour chicken broth over the bread cubes folding everything carefully so the bread cubes do not break apart too much. In a small bowl, gently whisk the egg and add it to the stuffing mix.
4.
Continue to fold everything until the egg is incorporated. Scoop uncooked stuffing into a medium casserole dish and bake uncovered for 40 minutes or until nice and toasty on top.

3 cups chopped pecans

3/4 cup sugar
•
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
•
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
•
2 tablespoons melted butter
•
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•
1/8 teaspoon salt
•
1 1/2 (8-oz.) packages frozen tart shells
INSTRUCTIONS 1.
Preheat oven to 350º. Bake pecans in a single layer in a shallow pan 8 to 10 minutes or until toasted and fragrant.
2.
Stir together sugar and corn syrup in a medium bowl. Stir in pecans, eggs, and next 3 ingredients.
3.
Spoon about 1/4 cup pecan mixture into each tart shell. Place tart shells on a large baking sheet.
4.
Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks, and let cool completely (about 30 minutes). Garnish with currants, if desired. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. 2017 NOVEMBER \\ THE BINGO NUGGET
