Hello, Lovely We made it. The end of maybe the toughest year of our lifetime, in so many ways. We don’t know what the future holds but we do know we all have a whole lot of ingenuity in us.

Breathe your sigh of relief and look ahead to our new “normal”. I truly believe that acceptance of new traditions and ways of relating to our immediate family and those around us are what is key in allowing us to do more than “get through” this moment in time. We are faced with the personalities and people we love but also often times serve and care for. The outside world from our homes, was an escape, and now our homes have become our everything.

Need to make your partner feel like an anniversary was not forgotten? Create a getaway in your home! Need to make the kids forget they haven’t seen friends or people in weeks or moths? Bring on a pizza, fort building party for no reason in your living room!

Our celebrations have become smaller, but that doesn’t make them and our life’s work any less significant.

For a long time I thought a prominent message should be to love more. Now more than ever, I realize that people need to actually be reminded, not just to love but, that our celebrations of each birthday, engagement, anniversary, wedding , Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines, etc.. mean something.

A card that seemed long lost in the sea of junk mail pre Covid, now is exciting and warms the heart. A surprise video phone call of someone saying, “you matter to me” is unequivocally special and makes your week.

So what is this telling us? It’s telling us, we matter.

You matter.

How we communicate that decides so much about human energy and the atmosphere around you.

This poses the question to you, how do you make your atmosphere a celebration of each other and today?

Can we all do better? We could earlier in the year and we can now. Are people having more grace and appreciation for where we all are ?Most certainly.

My hope is that you embrace not just your family tighter, but your community in a way that becomes infectious with grace, appreciation and love. Now is the time to be honest about you. Be authentic about what you do an d evaluate what your personal time is worth. As long as you are on earth you have a purpose. I encourage you to be upfront about what you have to give, because even though we are all shut in, human compassion and the need to feel excited or special never goes away.

Hold this moment tight and grasp what is in it for you. A new beginning with compassion toward your loved ones. An intimate celebration with the closest people to you. A career that maybe makes you excited to help other people in some way. A renewed, fulfilled, enlightened …you.

Fantastic Alternatives for Family Gatherings.

Embarking on new traditions that become worth sticking to.

1.W h e t h e r y o u a r e i n a cool climates, or warm the thing about the winter holidays is they were m e a n t t o b e c o z y.

Elaborate on that and do things that are reminiscent of cuddles.

Sitting by a fire ( inside or out)

Since the safest way to celebrate at any time together is outside potentially creating a mini market or fair in your yard with a fire pit.

A fun hot dog stand perhaps. Usher in something different with amenities to your guests, emulating a winter fair and shifting the focus away from opening presents. Having a “mini marketplace” with gifts for people to chose or better yet, win is a great way to bring joy and warmth to the outdoors.

By Kat Minks A styled shoot event creates a space for businesses and brands to show how you can safely work and play. A “she tent” becomes an experience of fun and frills and gives you ideas for a girlfriends get together or any casual celebration with feminine touches.

Having fun and feeling good about yourself can take a tribe.

Unfortunately with Covid-19 many people have lost that because virtual happy hours all day every day simply are not enough.

If planned with safety in mind, having a gathering can be done with the right precautions.

1. When choosing the theme think about space and fun.

Sure you want to get together but think about what there is to celebrate.

From birthdays to work anniversaries, new careers and businesses. Even engagements! Life is full of celebrations so make it about something or a multitude. Think “Friends giving” or ladies intimate holiday party or Valentine’s celebration.

Having a large table to be comfortable and chat around for hours as well as having enough space between each other can make everyone in attendance feel like they are experiencing a party at a home of a “Real Housewife”.

Safe Celebration Basics

SAFE CELEBRATION BASICS Here is a basic Go to Guide When It Comes to Entertaining In the Era of Covid-19

1) Collection of Names, Addresses, Emails, and Phone Numbers of all of your guests prior to arrival. Sometimes you have to do this. Sometimes your guests may give this info on site at the event.

2) For a larger event or anything pertaining to business, a liability waiver signed upon entry by either you as the event host or each of your guests.

Absolving the liability of the vendors if there is an outbreak at the event. This can happen two ways. The caterer, event planner, and venue will create one document for you to sign saying you assume liability. The other way it can happen is the individual vendor or venue will have liability for you or your guests to sign.

3) Provide masks for your guests even if you asked them to bring one.

4) Some larger groups and the extremely cautious may opt for temperature checks at the door. Some venues have a designated person at door. Others may ask you to hire a professional to do this.

5) Rent or purchase or make hand sanitizer stations and additional hand washing stations. - A station for home can be easily made from a water container with spout set on edge of bar table and bucket underneath with a soap pump, a paper towel holder, and trash can.

6) Talk with all vendors involved and make sure everyone is on same page as to what is expected by you.

Safe Celebration Basics

*Up to 10 - 25 outdoors (depending on location, perhaps tented celebration) - if eating seating in tables of two, four, or or six according to families. Allowing 6 feet apart between tables.

Venues with Catering and Management Staff & Event Spaces and Ballrooms -* If your state is allowing food service indoors in your area these are typically what is allowed. This may vary state to state.

25% Capacity with social distancing guidelines and procedures of temp checks, masks, and taking information of all who enter venue for tracing purposes, as well as seating guests at tables of 4 at most 6 for families.

No dancing or only bridal party family dances.

Restaurant - (this is what was allowed in warmer climate and in states that don’t experience winter weather) 50% capacity following social distancing and restrictions that restaurants have to follow to be open. Families sitting at tables.

There is a group of people that feel “the show must go on the way it was always planned, and just as many that are checking to see who is a rule follower to keep people safe in order to decide what places and resources to use to pull off their celebrations.

These are guidelines being established in many states in Summer of 2020 and Fall. Check your state’s local guidelines to determine what you can do. We recommend preparing for most strict gathering guides. Home/ Private Residence: *10 people celebrating indoors (or groupings of 10 in a cycle)

Here are recommendations by professionals and us regarding food.

Plain and simple DON’T DO BUFFET AND ANYTHING THAT IS SELF SERVE. unless its all pre / individually packaged food or all of the people from the same home are eating family style at that table. You can still do this in glass containers for presentation as well. This also means displays are only that of individual food that is packaged. No crudités or seafood display. No traditional wedding cake (in a lot of cases).

Cold options are the best ways to go. Many, for this reason, are only doing desserts in individual servings and mini crudités and having them served by someone masked, gloved and behind a partition. You can purchase portable partitions online for around $140.

Hot food should be served by licensed caterer / restaurant to each guest by a masked and gloved chef or server. Before you had to pay for white glove service,. now it’s mandatory with many caterers.

Pre- pour beverages such as water so that hand /object contact is not being established between persons Utilize a masked and gloved bartender.

So knowing all of the mazes to weave your celebration plans through brings us here. Many individuals and couples and are asking the questions

Should I postpone my event or wedding to Spring/ Summer of 2022?

Should I elope or do virtual vows?

Should I do a MicroWedding or Dinner Party?

Should I completely postpone a large wedding or event to Fall of 2021 or early 2022?

Don't panic, we have some ideas for you.

One simple word of advice. Assess. Assess your guest list. Are they at risk and who is likely to come even if you plan something?

What can you do to keep your guests feeling safe and having a good time?

Pre -packaged food done in an elegant way. There are great options for elegant and eco- friendly disposable paper products. Check out wood and biodegradable options for a more natural look. Bonus if you can find options like these that can be covered until served.

Something to note is that with all of these specialty measures the cost of event venues and food cost with caterers and restaurants will go up. Additional staffing required to do constant cleaning, purchase PPE ( gloves and masks for staff, as well as additional tables and chairs because the venue may only have a certain amount . If your venue is doing temperature checks at the door, they may hire a specific company or person to carry that out which will be added into a cost passed on to customers at some point.
