hen it comes to treatment for teeth straightening and bite correction, anyone who is getting ready for a grand special event such as a QuinceaĂąera or wedding may be worried that braces or retainers could draw unwanted attention in photos from their special day. Dr. Christopher Martinez, DDS PA understands how important it is to feel comfortable with your bright smile for a very important milestone in your life. Dr. Martinez, a McAllen native dentist, comes from a family legacy of dentistry and has made it his purpose to serve the Rio Grande Valley by offering life changing services. After meeting with the Alton-based dentist for a “Smile Analysisâ€? consultation, there are certain recommendations that can be offered. One, three, or sixmonth periods for braces, retainer and veneer treatments can be considered depending on a case by case basis. These time options are perfect when planning a big celebration almost a year before the big day, settling any worries about being picture ready! However if treatment may occur during your QuinceaĂąera or wedding, Dr. Martinez can, for a short period, remove braces and retainers for those special events, even for a planned photo shoot. QuinceaĂąera Traditions with Pezzat Teens

W

IFO Â?STU DMBTT XFEEJOH QIPUPHSBQIFS %BWJE 1F[[BU XBT approached to shoot a one-of-a-kind QuinceaĂąera with a circus theme, he knew this would be a fabulous opportunity to bring his visionary style into play. With one idea after another running through his mind while hunting down the next circus visit to the Rio Grande Valley, a thought struck the photographer,

Why not bring the circus to the birthday girl? It was this imaginative notion that began a new scheme for David Pezzat’s business, offering an exclusive Quinceaùera photography concept for those seeking a nontraditional take on photography sessions. While David worked with the family to set up a circus-themed photo shoot, he coordinated with a local business, Distant Lands to set up the big top complete with top hats and a unicyclist! Amidst the dazzling fashion and Hollywood-style props, David noticed that the young teen was truly enjoying the session and seemed to be at ease in front of the camera, something he knew would’ve been completely different had they shot a customary portrait session. A Quinceaùera, and a Sweet 16 as well, is known for marking the beginning of a teen’s journey into adulthood, celebrating their youthful energy and growing maturity. It was this reminder that convinced David into creating a new and memorable experience for these teenagers by emphasizing their personalities with visual concepts and themes, such as an extravagant Mad Hatter tea party premise he shot earlier this year. These photos would serve as great memorabilia of an exciting time in the young lady’s life, so why not have fun with them?

davidpezzat.com (956) 226-3286 As he is known for his reputable level of sophistication throughout his wedding portfolio accumulated for over 15 years, David knew he could apply the same work ethic to the teen sessions, with an exciting twist! What stood out for the award-winning professional wasn’t the dazzling ball gown or the handcrafted props, but rather the joy in the teen’s expression and the satisfaction of seeing an entire concept brought to life. Quinceaùera will be one of the biggest milestones a young lady, or gentleman, will experience in their life. This is a fun and exciting party they will want to truly enjoy, from the moment they wake up to prepare for their big day to the very end long after the guests have gone home. QuinceaĂąera Portraits With their package, it was important to include a photo shoot of Sophia, the QuinceaĂąera, and a large print, of one of the images, to be used for display at her celebration party. Similar to weddings, this pre-shoot of the QuinceaĂąera harkens to an earlier time, when it was common for a bride to have bridal shoot, well in advance of her wedding day. The portraits of Sophia, above and below, were taken six months before her main event.

QuinceaĂąera Grand Entrance Traditionally, the day of the celebration occurs on or near her birthday and the celebration opens with the QuinceaĂąera, making her grand entrance. The process unfolds similar to a wedding party being introduced into the reception hall, with the QuinceaĂąera, appearing last, as she is escorted by her parents or chamberlain (escort of honor).

QuinceaĂąera Shoe Tradition

The changing of the Quinceaùera’s shoes is symbolic of her transformation from girl to woman. Traditionally, the 2VJODFBÊFSB FOUFST UIF CBMMSPPN JO IFS RVJODFT žBU TIPFT The girl’s father (or close relative) is honored with changing her TIPFT CZ SFNPWJOH UIF žBUT BOE QVUUJOH PO IJHI IFFM TIPFT

The Quinceaùera Cake Given the importance of the day, the Quinceaùera birthday cake is probably a bit more elaborate than usual. Below, Sophia decides to have her cake and eat it too and why not? That is what they make them for! The masquerade theme was Sophia’s choice. It is not part of the Sweet Sixteen or Quinceaùera tradition. It was just Sophia being Sophia, enjoying her moment! I would like to thank Sophia’s parents, godparents, her Aunt Nellie and of course, Sophia, for all your patience and willingness to work with me, as I went about photographing NZ STU 4XFFU 4JYUFFO :PV OPU POMZ NBEF JU FBTZ GPS NF CVU a heck of a lot of fun!

Since Sophia’s Sweet Sixteen, I am happy to report, I have booked another Quinceaùera, for this coming spring, the second of what, hopefully, will be a long line to come! God Bless! This important detail should not be forgotten, but when you consider transportation options for the big day, why not give the Quinceañera girl the complete Cinderella experience by having a “carriage” awaiting her?

With many different modes of transportation offered such as a limousine or vintage car, a very popular hit with young teens is a party bus! In a class of their own, these large automobiles can accommodate larger groups of people, perfect for the Quinceañera girl’s friends to join her as she makes her way to the party. Now what really sets a party bus apart is the ambiance found within – some of these vehicles are customized with various amenities:
