In-person registrations are available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, Landa Recreation Center, Das Rec and Fischer Park NEC. Checks should be made payable to "City of New Braunfels."

PROGRAM & EVENT POLICIES CANCELLATIONS

Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a programs does not meet this minimum the class may be cancelled/combined a minimum of five days prior to the class start date.

WAIT LISTS

If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

REFUNDS

Cancellations of programs or events made one week (7 days) prior to the start of a program will receive a full credit to their account or a refund will be issued. NO CREDITS OR REFUNDS will be given within seven days or after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance of any program.

The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/or at recreation facilities. These photos and/ or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image.

Join us over Spring Break for an engaging, fun-filled, all-day camp. Kids will enjoy games, crafts, sports, movies and adventures to Landa Park. An afternoon snack will be provided, but campers will need to bring a lunch from home each day.

This camp will introduce participants to four different sports including: basketball, volleyball, pickleball and futsal (indoor soccer). Our instructors will guide athletes through fundamental movements and skills of each sport.

Drills will emphasize technique, teamwork and skill development while having fun.

Campers will discover the great outdoors and catch spring fever at our Nature Education Center. Be sure to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, change of clothes, and sunscreen to camp each day. Snacks will be provided. Staff available for participant arrival at 7:30 am, and afternoon pick-up until 6:00 pm. Pre-registration required.

Start your own babysitting service the right way with a certification from our trained American Red Cross Instructor. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely give care for children and infants. Participants will develop leadership skills, and learn basic child care, first aid, and CPR. CPR/AED/FIRST AID TRAINING

This American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. This course will teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Entry-level Lifeguard participants will gain the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Das Rec’s Spring Break Basketball camp will offer all aspects of skill development of the game. Participants will learn offense, defense, ball handling, shooting and more. This camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard positions. Held by NB Hoop Masters.

The key to any good fitness foundation is learning the fundamentals of fitness, proper form, technique, and the science behind the exercises. Above all, learning that exercise can be fun is vital. Youth should come prepared to learn and participate in a group workout.

The Landa Park Dolphins, organized by the New Braunfels Aquatic Club, is a competitive summer swim program for swimmers of all ages who want to better their competitive swim strokes, make new friends, and stay in shape during the summer. Summer practices are held Tuesday-Friday, with morning and evening times available. Swim meets will take place on various Saturdays throughout the summer. HISTORIC CEMETERY TOUR

Join Spaas Walking Tours for a guided, interactive walking tour through two historic New Braunfels’ cemeteries and there will be an exercise in using dowsing rods to find unmarked graves from 1846! Hear the stories of our founders along with their struggles and triumphs in building a new life for themselves and their descendants. Do you feel comfortable safely ride a bike with traffic? Do you feel you know enough to teach your children how to ride cautiously on their own bike? When you drive a car, are you confident on how to share the road with people on bikes? The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is hosting a Street Skills classes open and FREE to the public. The MPO’s Street Skills class is a free, hour-long program for adults and mature teens who want to understand the rules of the road on bike. It will cover important street riding information in a quick, off-bike session. The event is an informal, classroom-style presentation and discussion. The MPO’s Street Skills class will provide concrete examples of city cycling scenarios and how best to handle them so that you enjoy pleasant, stress-free rides. Street Skills classes are open to adults and teens who are at least 14 years old.

Participants between 14 and 18 years old must attend with a legal guardian.

Registration is limited to 30 people per class. Walk-ins are welcome, but only if space is available.

CAMP MINNEHAHA COUNSELOR

IN TRAINING PROGRAM (CIT) Teens- experience all the great things about day camp AND have an opportunity to develop job and leadership skills. CITs assist counselors with implementing and planning camp activities. CIT applications will be available April 1 and require at least one letter of recommendation for new CITs. Once accepted into the program, CITs must attend an orientation prior to the start of camp. Spots are limited and are available on a week-by-week basis following the Camp Minnehaha schedule.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD

Do you love your library? Let your voice be heard! During the last hour of the second Saturday’s Drop-in Volunteer Hours, teens can earn volunteer credit by attending the Teen Advisory Board meeting and voicing opinions about services the library offers. TAB is a chance for teens to help develop new programs and to give the Youth Services Department feedback on the youth area and books the library purchases for teens and young adults. The library is here to serve the teens of New Braunfels, and we want to listen.

Families can create something beautiful together during monthly art programs with local community artist Stella Olivas. She will lead participants through a unique project each month using a variety of media, including acrylics, pastels and watercolor.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Westside Community Center and New Braunfels Utilities during this annual event. Activities include the Droplet Dash for kids, an herb scavenger hunt in the garden, face painting, a plant sale, tastings from Comal ISD’s Chef Mario, activities with New Braunfels Public Library children’s staff, and delicious food options for regular vendor fees.

CORE FIT WITH CHRISTINA

Core Fit is a workout for the body, mind, and soul.

This 45-minute session includes cardio, muscle-toning and all the motivation and teamwork you could ask for. Christina doesn't do negativity and will be a great asset to your workout routine or the beginning of something life changing. Exercises can be modified for various fitness levels.

Walk around the WCC gym while listening to music or talking quietly with a friend. It's a good time to catch up on friendships, exercise, and get healthy. Twenty laps around the gym equals one mile.

Enjoy Latin dance moves during this high-energy exercise class. Carol will get you moving, shaking, and smiling to the music—what a fun addition to your day.

The City of New Braunfels, Westside Community Center, and the San Antonio Food Bank continue their partnership to assist food insecure families in the area on the first and third Friday of every month.

Income guidelines and voucher program information are available through Westside Community Center/ New Braunfels Public Library website. Vouchers may be picked up at the New Braunfels Public Library, the Salvation Army (Elliot Knox Boulevard), and the Westside Community Center (office and library).

Volunteer check-in is at 8:45 am and distribution times are at 9:30 am, 10 am, and 10:30 am.
