Everybody on the team is so excited about this year’s presentation. From our local legend and 2019 SAFILM Legacy Award Winner Jackie Earle Haley and 2019 SAFILM Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Cheech Marin to the first recipient of the Marcia Nasatir Award, movie and television star Cybill Shepherd, who will be screening her latest film, “Being Rose,” there’s so much to experience. So, kick back and get ready to enjoy the great local cinematic gems and some great treats from across the U.S. and around the world. We absolutely have something to please every palate. Celebrating the best in film from at least 24 countries, this year’s six-day festival brings almost 200 worldclass movies to San Antonio (21 local treasures!), including 40 feature films and documentaries, more than 150 short films, the debut of the SAFILM Food Film Fest, FREE educational panels by industry professionals, plus networking opportunities at filmmaker socials, nightly after-parties and celebrity appearances! FOOD FILM FEST DEBUT Brand new this year, the Culinary Institute of America-San Antonio will host SAFILM’s inaugural San Antonio Food Film Fest on the first day of the film festival, Tuesday, July 30. This debut, sanctioned by the San Antonio UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, fulfills our city’s promise to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network to present a project that crosslinks the culinary arts with film. Gonzalez … this is your chance to get the industry pros’ perspectives.
