I immediately thought of God’s promise to us when we see this beautiful display in the sky. Genesis 9:13 tells us: I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. How many other promises do we have? Would you believe 7,487? I am reading a book by Sam Storms now titled “ The language of Heaven” and I was made aware that in another book he researched all of the promises that God made to man recorded in the Bible. The following are just a few, the freedom from addictions, deliverance from sin and evil, financial provision, hope for the lost and hurting family and friends, overcoming depression, recovering a marriage, good health, healing, being free from fear and anxiety, and strength. Our God has made incredible promises, but He has linked them to our obedience, it’s the “if,” and “then,” promises of the Bible. If we obey what He says, then He promises that He’ll save us, watch over us, take care of us, and give to us our needs. What a blessing to be “standing on the promises of God”. I can have complete assurance in the fulfillment of all of these promises to me by living my life in faithful service to the One who made those promises.

What to Expect from a Financial Advisor edwardjones.com Member SIPC The COVID-19 pandemic may have unsettled many aspects of your life – including your financial situation. Even if your employment and earnings were not directly affected, you might have concerns about whether you’ve been making the right investment moves in such a stressful environment. The pandemic is, hopefully, just a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, but different events can rattle financial markets. And changes in your own life also can affect your plans. To prepare yourself for whatever tomorrow may hold, you may want to get some professional help – but what, really, can you expect from a financial advisor?
A financial advisor will look holistically at your life – your family composition, your career, your hopes and dreams, your instincts about saving and spending money, your risk tolerance and other factors. So, during your initial meeting, and at subsequent reviews afterward, here are some of the key areas you’ll discuss: • Feelings about your financial situation – Numbers are important to financial advisors, but what’s most meaningful to them is understanding what’s important to their clients. Are you confident about your overall financial outlook? Are you worried about your cash flow? Are you distressed over volatility in the financial markets? Do you have concerns about your career? By getting at the answers to these and similar questions, a financial advisor can gain a clear sense of who you are and what matters to you. You can then follow an established process to build your personalized strategies and take the specific actions needed to achieve your goals. • Progress toward your goals – It takes patience and discipline to achieve long-term goals, such as helping send your kids to college or enjoying the retirement lifestyle you’ve envisioned for yourself. As you save and invest for these goals over the years, you’ll want to ….measure your progress regularly. If you seem to be falling behind, your financial advisor can suggest moves such as increasing your investments or adjusting your investment mix. • Changes in your family situation – Marriage or remarriage, the arrival of new children, the departure of children for college, caregiving responsibilities for older parents – any and all of these events can make a big difference in your goals and, as a result, your investment plans. During your reviews, your financial advisor will consider these changes when making suggestions or recommendations. When it comes to your to-do (Changes in your family’s status may affect your list, put your future first. estate plans, so you’ll also need to work with your legal advisor or other estate-planning professional.) • Changes in your retirement plans – As you To find out how to get your financial near retirement, you might decide that your original goals on track, contact us for a plans for this time of your life no longer suit you. complimentary review. For example, you might have once thought that, when you retired, you would stay close to home, volunteering and pursuing your hobbies. But now you’ve been thinking how much you would enjoy traveling, or perhaps even living abroad for a while. To accommodate your change in plans, a financial professional may recommend certain moves, such as working a couple of years longer or adjusting the amount you eventually withdraw from your 401(k), IRA and other retirement accounts. As you work toward your goals, you may find it challenging to navigate the financial markets and respond to the changes in your life – but you don’t have to go it alone. And knowing what to expect from a financial advisor can help smooth your journey.

Stewardship Parenting Positions. Many available.
Parenting and Stewardship? What does that mean? We think of ourselves as parents. Period. What is meant by the notion of stewardship in connection with parenting? To understand parental stewardship, there are several underlying tenets. The first tenet is that we own or and control nothing in this life. It is especially difficult when it applies to our children and parenting. Our children are not ours? This cannot be. To whom do they belong? The Bible provides answers. Stewardship is made clear to us on every level of our lives. Psalm 24: 1 says, “The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the Lord.” Nothing we have here on this Earth is ours. It’s all the Lord’s and we are stewards. So what does that make us in practical terms? We are His stewards; He is the owner; and, He calls us to practice stewardship in every facet of our life. On an average day, you probably steward, or manage, multiple things, from your marriage, to your finances, to your health, and to your children. When we get in the mindset that we are stewarding or managing His property, it is a game changer. And, the greatest shift can happen when we embrace this notion with our parenting. We have such a short time to manage the children, whom the Lord has gifted to us. Our greatest opportunity in that is to point them to Him, the Owner of it all. But, we must lean into the Lord and be open to His guidance. Again, that may not come easily to many parents, who feel they know best. The second principle is to surrender your precious children to God. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) says “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” But we don’t need to stop there, for it continues in verses 12-13, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” When we, as parents, can embrace these basic tenets, we can parent, as stewards, by: •Teaching them the Word of God and why it’s so powerful. •Finding a church. Being involved in a church as a family and in community with other believers. •Encouraging your kids to pray. The Lord wants to hear from you and your kids. Some find praying out loud difficult to do, just keep encouraging your child to keep practicing! •Helping your child find friends. You can facilitate play dates, encourage good friendships, and monitor possible toxic friends. •Modeling what being faithful looks like. Even if your faith is new, model what it means to live in alignment with His Word. NOW HIRING!! The Lord is calling you to your job of being a steward over all He has given you. Hearing “Well done, good and faithful servant,” from the Owner of creation is what we’re striving for, and let it start with our children.
Erica is originally from Kansas and moved to Texas five years ago with her husband, Sam, and three children. She is currently the Children’s Pastor at Magnolia Bible Church. Connecting with children and watching them develop a love of the Bible and a relationship with the Lord is life-affirming.

Puestos de Crianza de Mayordomía. Muchos disponibles.
¿Crianza y mayordomía? ¿Qué significa eso? Pensamos en nosotros mismos como padres. Periodo. ¿A quién pertenecen?

International Baccalaureate (IB) is one of the premier academic programs recognized by elite universities around the world as an excellent preparatory curriculum. Magnolia ISD is one of 84 public and private schools in Texas to offer this program approved by the Texas Education Agency. Students have the choice to pursue the IB program depending on their post-secondary career path. The IB Diploma offers the opportunity for students to receive college credits while also preparing them with the skills necessary to be successful in their college coursework. Diploma recipients are guaranteed 24 college credit hours at any Texas public college. The IB framework allows MISD the freedom and flexibility to align local community values with our educational curriculum. The goal of IB is to provide students with the critical thinking skills to reach their own conclusions based on their own research and experience. In the five years of offering this program:
Noah Bryson is a senior at Washington University and has been working on a research project that is a body machine interface for video game rehabilitation. The augmented reality tool designed for rehabilitation makes standard physical therapy more exciting. He is researching with his team to provide an alternative to physical therapy that is more interactive and specifically benefits those who lack lower body motor control. The platform is designed to be controlled by the body. The system utilizes an adaptive algorithm to capture patients' residual movement to control the game, allowing for users from minimal to severe levels of impairment to use this tool. The next step is to prove this is an effective tool for physical therapy, so they will begin running clinical trials.
MISD’s objective is to provide as many program learning opportunities as possible. Our goal as always is to deliver quality education to our students while developing them into productive citizens in a traditional Texas public school experience.
“I knew I excelled in math and science but did not necessarily want to become a doctor or nurse. I hope this program inspires students that there is so much more to have an impact in a field that they are truly passionate about. There is so much more to medicine than just the great work performed by Doctors and Nurses, which I want to share with students looking onward to the next steps of their lives.” - Noah Bryson 2018 MWHS IB graduate Senior at Washington University in St. Louis Bachelor of Science & Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering

The district recently completed a demographic study that provided a projection for the next ten years, and we are anticipated to grow by over 8,000 students in the next decade. This growth presents many challenges, but also infinite possibilities and opportunities. In Splendora ISD, we want to ensure that every student is involved in something, and that every student has a positive, appropriate relationship with at least one adult on his or her campus. We believe that if we focus on valuing our students through personal connections and mentorships, as well as provide them an opportunity to display their talents, dreams, and passions, then our students will be engaged, motivated, and ready for their future. To that end, our school board is committed to providing necessary resources so that all students have a person and a place, and our Community Based Accountability System will allow our students, teachers, and campus principals to signal when they need to implement new practices or processes to ensure that student engagement remains our top priority. As the 21-22 school year comes to a close, we are so excited to send our Senior Class on to their next adventure in their lives, and to see our kindergarten students graduate on to first grade! The spring is always a busy time in public schools, and we are right in the middle of banquet and awards season, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students for the success they are experiencing, or more impressed with our staff for supporting them in these endeavors. We are excited about what the future holds for Splendora ISD. The future is bright and promises to be busy, exciting, and full of new opportunities. Please join us for the ride!

The Problem: Anxiety The Solution: Jesus Christ
by Dr. Alan Kitay
Let’s be honest, we all have problems. We all have some “issues” that we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. And sometimes things do not go the way that we plan. Sometimes we get an unexpected “curve ball” and we don’t know what to do. This is the process that we call Life. But, while we cannot always choose the issues that we have to deal with, we can choose how we will deal with those issues. We can either be victims or we can be conquerors; no, actually, we can be more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) and we do not have to worry or be anxious about our lives.
In the Sermon on the Mount, found in Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus says to his hearers, “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” Jesus then goes on to give five reasons why believers should not worry about their daily lives. 1. We don’t need to worry. God is perfectly capable of supplying everything we need. If He takes care of the birds, then, surely, He will take care of us, since we are more precious to Him than the birds. 2. Worry doesn’t accomplish anything. Jesus tells us that we cannot add a single day to our life by worrying—nor can we make ourselves more secure or happier or whatever by worrying). 3. Constant worry indicates we don’t really believe in the sovereignty of God; we don’t trust His power and His care for us. If we are in God’s hands, then what can really harm us? 4. Constant worry means we don’t have our priorities straight. Jesus tells us, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be provided you.” If we fill our minds with thoughts of God’s grace revealed in our Lord Jesus Christ, there won’t be any room for worry. 5. Live one day at a time. Don’t borrow trouble by worrying about tomorrow when we do not know if we will even have tomorrow. Today is God’s gift. Use it. Cherish it. So then, if worry is unnecessary and illogical, what is God’s solution for worry? Jesus says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Notice that the solution for worry and the promise for provision are the same: Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Many Christians are not getting some of their basic needs met because they are in violation of this basic principle. God is not #1 in their life. They are not seeking after God to get to know Him better. They have not entered into a true personal relationship

with Him. They have not fully surrendered their lives into His hands so that He can place them into His perfect will and plan for their lives. Jesus could not have put it more perfectly or more succinctly. If we can really grab a hold of this
principle and get it worked into our mindset and way of thinking, then we can achieve what the last part of this verse is trying to tell us to do - and that is to not worry about our life and what tomorrow may bring because we now know that God has every little detail of our life held perfectly in His hands. Wow! What a concept. Dr. Alan Kitay is the Director of Grace Christian Counseling Ministries. He has a Ph.D. in psychology and is a Licensed Professional Christian Therapist. No More Excuses By Deborah Elum, Producer & Author Over the years, Ann’s pain grew worse because she suffered from severe venous or vein disease in both of her legs. As a result, she experienced swelling and extreme pain almost every day. Finally, her doctor told her that there was nothing he could do to help her right leg, which was the worst. One of her daughters searched for a doctor that specialized in vein treatments. After she located one in the area, she scheduled an appointment. Her new doctor recommended a compression therapy device to increase blood flow to her legs. A technician called to come to her house in a few days to let her try the device before it was ordered. Ann began to give excuse after excuse for not wanting the device. Finally, she even wanted to cancel the whole thing before the appointment but her daughter refused to let her. A trial device was slipped around her leg during the fitting and turned on. In less than ten minutes, all the swelling was gone. Ann could not believe her eyes! She was amazed and excited. Her whole attitude changed towards the technician when she realized that this was the answer to stop the suffering she was experiencing. Ann knew that once she got her own device, she could do things she had not been able to do in years! In the book of John, there was a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years. At a particular season, God sent an angel to trouble the water in the pool of Bethesda. The first person to step into the water was miraculously healed. When Jesus saw the man that had been sick for a long time, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?” The man gave excuse after excuse. First, he said he could not walk. Next, he complained, “I have no one to put me into the pool.” Followed by the excuse, “Someone always gets in front of me before I could get in the pool.” Jesus took away all the excuses when He told the man to stand up, pick up his mat, and walk! Instantly, the man was healed. He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking. In life, we must look to Jesus for the answer to every situation. In Him, we find hope, comfort, and direction. Whether it is your physical body, finances, or relationships, He is asking you, “Would you like to get well?” For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. John 5:4

TiMMark Angels has been in the making all my life. Over the years this was expressed in the way I lived my life and how I viewed life around me. I lost my son Timothy when he was 13 months old and then a year later my son Mark was still born. This had a profound impact on me but still I never lost my love for God or others. I always loved to draw and paint especially people and in 1998 I was on the phone doodling as I always did when I got still. I sketched the little guys you see here. Timothy from memory and TiMMark Angels Mark from my mind. I immediately named them TiMMark and felt that it would mean something someday. In the meantime, I drew them on every painting or drawing I did in place of the usual artist signature. I put them on business cards for some of the artwork that I was paid for. Then it was forgotten. I realized in 2013 that I was actually a publisher when I started publishing the whole Kid and Kaboodle magazine. I again used the little angels for TiMMark Publications. Page 4 of the magazine has always had a very small picture of them, and it says a TiMMark Publication. In recent years I have been asked if the magazine was a non-profit because of the amount that I give away and I always joked that it was not official but yes, it is non-profit. A few of my acquaintances and friends mused about the Prayer and Praise on Main which began in the fall of 2019 as being non-profit. TiMMark Angels is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to work to encourage families with helpful information and to promote faith and family values through the Whole Kid and Kaboodle magazines, as well as children’s educational books which will be made available through TiMMark Publications. TiMMark Angels will also further the dreams and aspirations of disadvantaged kids and those with developmental challenges, specifically those with varying degrees of the Autism spectrum and Downs Syndrome. Programs and services will include educational scholarships and entertainment through venues such as summer camps. I want the Kid and Kaboodle magazine’s message to be still giving out when I am not able or not here to do so and the value and extra benefit of being able to encourage a child with autism or down’s syndrome cannot be expressed in mere words. THE LESSON OF THE BUTTERFLY We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” ~Maya Angelou Sometimes growth can be difficult. But struggling is an important part of any growth experience. In fact, it is the struggle that creates who you are and gives you the ability to become the best version of you. While going through a major transition in my own life, I came across this beautiful story of the butterfly. One day, a young girl was playing in her grandmother’s garden when she noticed some caterpillar’s cocoons that were getting ready to open and become a butterfly. She watched the first one trying to come out of its home. It struggled and took a long time. By the time the butterfly got out, it was exhausted. It had to lay on the tree branch and rest awhile before it could take flight. The little girl felt so terrible for the little butterfly, who had to go through so much of a struggle just to get out of his little cocoon. When the little girl saw the second cocoon getting ready to hatch, she didn’t want it to go through what the first butterfly did. So she helped open the cocoon herself, and took the butterfly out. She laid him on the branch and saved him from the struggle. But the second little butterfly came out with a swollen body and small, shriveled wings, and could not fly, while the first little butterfly who had fought so hard took off into the sky. Distraught, the little girl ran to her grandmother, crying. “What happened? Why didn’t the second butterfly fly?” she asked. Her grandmother explained that butterflies have a liquid in the core of their body, and as they struggle to get out of the cocoon that liquid is pushed into the veins in the butterfly wings where it hardens and makes the wings strong. The struggle to get out of the cocoon strengthens the butterfly’s wings. “Without the struggle, there are no wings,” Grandmother said as she stroked her granddaughter’s hair to comfort her. During my own struggle, I found myself living in fear, afraid of change because uncertainty is uncomfortable. It was during this time that I learned to embrace the hard lessons, because without those, we cannot continue to move forward. There is great joy in the journey if we just allow it. You will make mistakes, just learn from them, so you can grow. The lesson of the butterfly is letting go of the past and move forward to experience something new and wonderful. We all transform through multiple stages in life. We endure the growth pattern, many times without realizing our own strengths. If you ever feel overwhelmed, lonely, or out of place, remember a season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings. The butterfly does not look back at the caterpillar in shame, just as you should not look back at your past in shame. Your past was part of your own transformation.
