A Letter to Our Readers Most things I worry about Never happen anyway – Tom Petty, Crawling Back to You Awww, man – not Tom Petty. Not right after Harry Dean Stanton and Louise Hay, both in their nineties. Petty should have had another quarter century of creative brilliance left before reaching that mark. Just an ol’ Gainesville, Florida boy with sleepy eyes and an easy smile who loved to play the rock and roll, Petty was a quintessential southern gentleman who had no truck with acting like a dumbass redneck. Forced by contract to do MTV videos, he revolutionized the whole genre, featuring Johnny Depp and Faye Dunaway in Into the Great Wide Open. Ironically, American Girl, from his first album, did better in the UK until twenty years after it was recorded – on July 4, 1976, America’s Bicentennial. Oh yeah, all right. Take it easy baby. Make it last all night… Quit worrying. Most things you worry ‘bout never happen anyway. –Michael Abedin

Well, meet Dr. Joe Vitale’s Greatest Law of Attraction Quotes. This new book contains more Law of Attraction and related quotes than I want to count. Some of these have been tweeted and re-tweeted numerous times, all over the Internet. Some of the most popular are: A goal should scare you a little, and excite you a lot. We live in a belief-driven Universe. Change your beliefs and you change your Universe. Your wealth is hiding under the very thing you are afraid to do. Whatever you say after ‘I am’ defines who you become. The Universe loves speed.

Of course, when you keep working on yourself, you keep growing. As a result, some of my quotes from my early years seem like contradictions to quotes from more recent years. They don’t contradict – they compliment. They are simply spoken from different grades of life. Early on, I said: Intentions rule the Earth. It causes the Universe to rearrange everything and everyone around you to help you fulfill your intentions. But more recently I’ve said: Intention is not as important as inspiration. Intention is a toy of the mind; inspiration is a directive from the Divine.

Of course, both quotes are true. The most relevant one to you will depend on what level of consciousness you are currently on. My staff had fun collecting these quotes from my books, recordings, and speeches. After they compiled them all, they split them into groups, by topic, so you could easily find quotes when you needed them.

But another way to use this book is called bibliotherapy.

6

In short, open the book anywhere and let the quote your eye lands on be your guiding thought for the day. I’ll open the book anywhere right now and quote what I see. Passion is the ticket to success. Follow yyour p passion and yyou’re on the road that’s right for you. That Th att quote quote e works ks for f me. me.

Or, another way you can practice bibliotherapy is, hold a question in mind and then open the book anywhere. Wherever your eye seems drawn to a quote on the page you opened to, treat it as a message from the Universe and meditate on it. You are making the book a sort of oracle. For example, I’m going to be recording some video lessons later today for a new product. What might be something I can do to make the videos the best I can make? I open the book and see: It’s not the thing you want. It’s the feeling that it gives you. That answer seems to tell me that instead of focusing on an end result with the video I’ll record, focus on how I want to feel when the video is recorded. That’s smart and useful advice, even if I am quoting myself.

For the fun of it, here are a few more quotes from the book, taken at random:

You can attract what you want faster if you don’t need it. Your perception creates your reality. You can look at life and see scarcity or abundance. It depends on your mindset. The new secret to manifesting your goals is to: Have fun. Keep smiling. Be playful. Stay grateful. The Law of Attraction quote book might make a good holiday gift for family and friends since, after all, the holidays are coming up and you’ll need something to give. In fact, here’s a quote on giving from the book: When you give anything, you tap into a higher spiritual law. You have little to do but give, wait, and receive. And you can quote me on that.

Medieval England. A beautiful young woman, Cecilia, makes herbal tinctures, dances alone in moonlight, talks to animals, and swims nude while men leer, unseen, from the shadows. Naturally, everyone thinks she’s a witch. A command from the Lord and Lady of the land ignites a mob (the medieval version of social media) and the mob decides to – well, ignite Cecilia.

Things don’t quite go quite as they planned, however. Cecilia, a local short film originally intended to be a campy homage to Sixties-era horror classics, turned into something else – what writer and director Liz Tabish calls, “ a celebration of the untamed, sensual, intuitive spirit of women.” Producer Lindsey Lemke stars as Cecilia, and Joe Vitale, veteran of hundreds of hours of documentaries, makes his dramatic debut as the priest who hears Cecilia’s confession. Cecilia will be entered in festivals, and Liz and Lindsey plan a series of vintage genre films exploring women’s roles. As Cecilia was shooting, the ugly truth about Hollywood’s casual mistreatment of women broke. “Women,” Liz explains, “aren’t just the cute little things or dangerous sirens Hollywood has portrayed. Women endure pain, constant threat, trauma, dismissive attitudes, disrespect, and mockery with aplomb – but I think it’s becoming evident our patience is wearing thin.” Watch for local showings of Cecilia, or view it at: https://vimeo.com/238437135/a8372400c9

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

It’s a holistic thing. There’s a loosely unifying theme for each issue based on the cover, article content, time of the year, and various astrological, intuitive, and literary factors. After all these are considered, after the runes are consulted, the pendulum swung, and the cards read, one final element is taken into account. The tie that binds, the crème de la crème, the cherry on top of the banana split (or however that goes) is elegant in its simplicity – have we ever, in what’s now going on twelve years and a hundred forty issues, used that word before. Oh, and it also has to fit on the page, and it’s cool if it can be more than one part of speech – like, say, Light, which can be a noun, a verb, or an adjective.

– Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

W

hat a strange planet, huh? If you’ve been feeling like you might have taken a wrong turn somewhere back around Neptune, you’re not alone. Seems like so much craziness has been afoot lately, if you wrote a novel or screenplay using it as a plot line no one would believe it for a second. (“Wait, you’re saying the reason that whole part happened was because of what planet being in Scorpio?”) Then again, Douglas Adams did just that, starting with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe, so who knows? Awareness, usually a pretty good tool for navigating the rough stretches, might actually be more of a liability than an asset at such times – ignorance may not exactly be bliss, but at least it allows you to keep yourself busy on social media. Adams wrote and acted in a couple of early Monty Python episodes, so maybe the best way to cope with craziness is just to look at it like you’re in a Python sketch.

Let there be… You know the rest. God’s first shot at creating Earth was, Genesis says, without form and void, and darkness was on its face, so God said let there be light – and, presto, there was. He liked it, and separated light from darkness. A little of each stayed with the other, though. Shadows by day, stars at night. You can see that in the yin and yang symbol – when the white part gets biggest, the black spot appears. When darkness gets deepest, light appears. Thank God, huh?

Quintessence. Ah, well. Enough of that. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, as they say. As long as it’s not a train heading your way, that’s a good thing. Light protects you, nourishes your cells, shows you where to place your feet on the path. The title of Austin artist Denise Fulton’s excellent November cover art is actually Heat, first cousin to Light, but choosing the tag line at the bottom of each cover is a process that isn’t necessarily based on the title of the artwork.

8

On the November cover, Heat is embraced by light, the warm glow of an autumn sun. There are each of the five elements the Chinese say all things are made of – the usual Fire, Water, Earth, and Air (Metal, to the Chinese) and the quintessential Fifth Element that’s the end result of the action of all of those. Wood is the element that contains the essence of life, and growth – and growth, like it or not, is the only thing that can save you when life gets crazy.

THE ART OF THE WORK OF HEALING

Combining the best of mainstream and natural healthcare

Holistic or naturopathic practitioners are prone to swinging the pendulum in the other direction (sometimes literally), discounting the value of mainstream medicine because of the way it’s been abused, usually for profit. There are, however, practitioners certified as naturopathic doctors – ND’s – who receive extensive clinical training and respect mainstream techniques as well as natural forms of healing. Not every state licenses them to use all their abilities legally, however. If you want the best of both worlds, you can bounce back and forth between your MD and your ND and hope for the best, hope they agree on testing procedures, diagnoses, and a course of treatment that uses every technique available to keep you in good health, whether it’s allopathic or naturopathic. You could also, however, go with a practice that has both under one roof, in a working relationship allowing them to confer with each other on a day to day basis to make sure you get the best approach to staying well – and the best course of treatment to get you back to being well when you’re not.

Santiago, ND. Between them, they collaborate on a wide variety of skill sets. Nutritional counseling. Food planning, preparation, combining, and storage. Nutritional supplements, diagnostic tests for food and environmental allergens and sensitivities, including hair analysis and ALCAT food intolerance testing. Flexible, non-judgmental dietary programs emphasizing digestion, absorption, and enjoyment of healthy, organic food, instead of regimented calorie counting. Integrative medicine. The ability to use prescription medicines judicially as a bridge to health, supported by herbal and homeopathic options. Pain management. Many pain issues are related to inflammation. One layer of combatting pain is to adopt an anti-inflammatory diet, combined with cutting-edge oxidative, prolozone, neural, and prolo-therapy that can enhance other forms of therapy for acute and chronic pain – even if you’ve had an obscure diagnosis for something like fibromyalgia, and been told there is no cure. Aesthetics. Standard forms of aesthetic therapies performed with professional medical supervision, along with oxidative therapy as a safe, easy, and natural way to deal with cosmetic improvements using oxygen-based echniques. Vitamin infusions. Intravenous vitamin and mineral infusions, including IV Vitamin C, shown by National Institute of Health studies to possibly have the potential to kill cancer cells and limit side effects of chemotherapy. Medical testing, labs. Basic blood work, testing for heavy metals, parasites and yeast, adrenal, hormone and thyroid testing, genetic methylation assessment (MTHFR), Lyme comprehensive, and food reactive testing.

Artisanal healthcare.

Wellness is individual.

Everything else is becoming artisanal, bread to cheese to beer, crafted to fit your taste using old and trusted techniques that don’t rely on shortcuts or chemically enhanced ingredients. Why not healthcare? They are, after all, called the healing arts – and artists take the time to create the perfect work. Opus is the Latin word for a work of art, and it’s also the name of a healing practice that combines the skills of two practitioners – Gwieneverea Brandon, MD, and Melissa Russ-

Treatment programs should be, too. Medicine is a science, but it’s also an art – and any art is as good as the artist that performs it. Sometimes, the best art is the result of a harmonious collaboration of artists.

by Michael Abedin Want the best of modern-day mainstream medicine and naturopathic healing? Good luck. It’s rare to find an MD convinced that nutrition and prevention are the keys to health. American healthcare is based on a lucrative model of pharmaceutical drugs and extensive (and expensive) testing and radical intervention techniques. Doctors who buck that system aren’t viewed very favorably – by their peers, governing boards, or even by consumers trained to believe it’s natural to get sick, because there’s always a magic bullet that can save you.

On the flip side…

THE LANGUAGE OF LIGHT by Kate Barnidge My language is the Language of Light. I can smell it from afar and I recognize it with my touch. I study its passageways and remember its direction. I watch for it everywhere. To me, it is one of the simplest and most profound building blocks of this world. I often speak in these terms; I refer to someone’s brightness, whether to their intellect or the glow I feel in their presence. The words I use are brilliant to describe one of the animating forces of life, Light. In many ways, I am pointing to something that I intimately know, because I’m human. The ancients said Light, joined by its partner, Sound, enter in through the top of the head and fill the whole body. These ancient philosophers of India said Light and Sound condensate inside spaces in the center of the brain and become fluid. This fluid is moved, like a pulse, through the entire organism, first through the spinal cord and then into every nook and cranny of the body through collagen fibers.

So, physically, in our anatomy, everything gets this constant dose of Light. The sheer fact we are alive is testament to this happening. Light is the foundation of nutrition, the point before the point of cells, biology, and all functions. The fluid it becomes is a highly nutritious substance that works its healing from the inside out. Light neutralizes everything in a way we, as a species, already understand because it is where we come from; it is our place of origin. It is deep inside of us, deep inside of the healing process, relaxation, and the place where we let go. Light is perceived with physical senses, elemental senses, and also in the imagination. It can be used extensively in a mental way. The mind is a less subtle version of Light though is relatively closer to it than the body.

Healing can be done with these mental imaginings. Visualizing and picturing colors, qualities of shade, brightness, and density are all keys in using the imagination to heal and change our lives. To me, Light has that much power. Color is many varieties of Light, and the way we imagine them makes a difference. Regardless of the actual shade itself, the quality of the color is important. For example, when there’s plenty of freedom, movement, grace, and perfect timing this is when the Light and its colors are translucent in the image. When the colors are thick and cannot be seen through, this is a sure sign there are things inhibiting a natural flow in the life force. Light is found at every level of incarnation in the physical, etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. When its free flow can be found throughout all systems this is truly an ideal state of being. In my experience, the effects are real, engaging the best parts of what it means to be human. The most subtle parts of ourselves are the most vulnerable to the reality of daily life, constantly battered by forces at play around us. The part of being human that is made of Light is the most subtle of all the parts. In the process of healing myself and then going beyond into my authentic glow, I’ve found that Light, radiance, vibrancy, balance, and relaxation are all intricately dancing together at the center of the true human design. ROCKING THE LIGHT Salt and Crystal Lamps by Folade Speaks As Sunlight vanishes earlier into the evening sky, it’s time to begin utilizing other forms of light, honoring this season of darkness and hibernation in our homes and internal rhythm with cozy autumn lighting that warms both home and spirit – candles, fireplaces, soft lighting, and metaphysical lamps.

Here are a few options. Himalayan Salt Lamps. Unlike crystal lamps, greatly amplified by heat from within. Learn square footage recommendations – smaller lamps reach only a certain square footage. Best heated, they should be lit for longer periods of time. In spaces without good air circulation or in air conditioning, they sweat and shed, waning as time passes. They provide negative ions to the room, and to the body when you place your hands over them. One favorite lamp form is bowls holding palm-sized salt rocks, as many as forty of them. Take individual rocks once they’re warmed and hold them, place them on the body during a massage, or toss a couple in bath water, where they react to steam and diffuse allergy and asthma symptoms. The color benefits the Svadhisthana/Sacral chakra, promoting creativity and emotional uplift. Insomnia soothers, they also cleanse air quality. Amethyst Crystal Lamps. Stimulate the violet sensibilities of the Ajna/Third Eye and Sahasrara/Crown Chakras, and a stimulating healing color for those between forty-two and fifty-six years of age. The most popular crystal for home decor. Helpful for insomnia (bedroom placement), migraine headaches, toothaches, those working toward sobriety or through grief from the transition of a loved one. Calcite Crystal Lamps. Often found in lamp form, people are drawn to calcite. It eases back pain, and is a learning crystal that boosts memory, expands the mind’s ability to process and learn new information, and incites curiosity. Imagine the power and benefits of a calcite lamp in the bedroom, study, office, healing space, or classroom. Selenite Crystal Lamps. A sage. Countless metaphysical benefits in lamp form – the more you have, the cooler you appear. They look cosmic, and mimic cave clusters when lit. Invaluable for spaces with technology, they block EMF’s. Place jewelry or other crystals on them to clear energy and memory – selenite is self-cleansing. Pain reliever, a great pick for healing spaces, spas, bedrooms. Quartz Crystal Lamps. Used in high-vibrational spaces, Quartz boosts the vibration. Lamps placed where groups and family members gather to create memories or ideas for growth and expansion could be a valuable tool – a meeting or dining room, even the kitchen. Rose Quartz Crystal Lamps. One of the most loving crystals Mother Earth offers. Its soft pink color calls us to it.

When lit, it’s an awesome sight, very soothing for the Anahata/ Heart and Svadhistana/Sacral chakras. Agate Crystal Lamps. Perhaps the supreme showoff of all crystal lamps. Pick up any agate slice, hold it to the sunlight – you’ll have a shapeshifter in hand. With backlighting, agate mimics stained glass. You can’t go wrong with an agate lamp. Placed in any room, they’re balancers and harmonizers, visually stimulating and dazzling as light features. Perfectly utilized to make dreamcatchers, they give a sweet, high-pitched sound when wind strikes them together, and are visual stunners. A great pick for the Muladhara/Root Chakra.

Chineese Mediiciine and holid day strresss by Hannah Rudolph Everyone knows overeating during the holidays is par for the course. Cookies, Grandma’s pie, stuffing, turkey, ham, endless candy – healthy dietary choices fly out the window and digestion, overeating, and poor diet take over.

Can you say no to Aunt Ruth’s blintzes? Or will you end up constipated, gassy, even nauseous, taking weeks for your digestive system to recover? Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can help shorten this turnaround by supporting smooth movement of Qi, returning digestion to normal. Chinese herbs can also relieve the digestive tract of inflammation, a common side effect of overeating – especially greasy, fatty, and sweet foods. Chinese medicine is also effective at reducing cravings. (You know how addictive sugar is.)

Over the river, through the woods… travel and fatigue. This time of year, many of us travel long distances to family homes. Car rides are long, planes a haven for germs. Early flights, late flights, driving all night – only to find you’ve been relegated to an air mattress in Cousin Henry’s room, who has sleep apnea. Even though they’re called holidays, often by the end of them you need a true holiday to recover. Chinese medicine has many tools to help recover lost energy, prevent flu and colds, and get you back to being healthy.

Family matters. We love our families – maybe some members more than others. (Let’s be real.) Tensions and drama are common when holidays unearth stress, depression, anger. Even in the best of situations, spending time in close quarters with the whole family is exhausting. This issue is closely related to fatigue – you often leave not only exhausted physically, but emotionally. Chinese medicine can reduce physical and emotional tensions and soothe your raw edges when your buttons have been pushed one too many times, and help you relax so you can sleep better and restore your mind to a stable place. These are just a few ways Chinese medicine and acupuncture can help you during the holidays – and, of course, year round. It’s never too early or too late to start treatments and give yourself some extra support during hectic times. Give yourself a gift. Try – or return to – a Chinese medicine practice. Hannah Rudolph is a licensed acupuncturist and owner of Terra Nera, a Traditional Chinese Medical practice offering acupuncture, personalized herbal formulations, Asian bodywork, and nutritional support. THE BIRTH OF

I realized I couldn’t help others unless I engaged in an age-old parable. First cast out the beam in thine own eye... For some of us that haven’t dealt with this, it’s never too late to take that glistening key and release the padlock to the door that has the cleaning tools. There’s no magic whiteout to cover things up, as we’ve evidenced of late. For many, the issues that need cleaning are buried in boxes labeled Deal with it later – or in cartons wrapped in gorilla reinforcement tape, marked with big red letters on all sides. Don’t look at this right now. Too painful! Well, the planets are supporting our cleanup by applying a little more pressure on us than normal, and there’s a hole in the Sun’s atmosphere where the flames are getting a little too close for comfort.

AWESMIC CULTURE

A hole in the sun’s atmosphere? Geomagnetic storms, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, mudslides, sinkholes – blackouts? What? Is Gaia saying, Enough is enough? It’s time to face the fact we can’t dump any more of our problems into Mother Earth for her to transform, although our Mother has transformed them for us in the past. Is she giving us back stuff we need to deal with? We’re past the embryo stage of soul growth as humans, past being toddlers. We should now be capable of dealing with whatever we’ve created in our lives. Why not transform our issues, and dump heaps of gratitude into Mother Earth for taking on so much of our stuff all these thousands and thousands of years? Dealing with our own issues, being accountable and responsible, doesn’t have to be such a dreadful thing.

Awesmic City Expo Dec.16-17

We can do this. We’re not alone. There’s a cosmic team out there, ready to assist, so we can start learning to be responsible for processing our own stuff. Cosmic, loving assistance is here to choose. If we don’t choose it, we leave our choice up to chance, which might surface in creative ways we may not be so thrilled to experience – nor might we be prepared for them. Our best choice is to align with the cosmos and get in the driver’s seat. Ever sense the overwhelming urge to clean out the basement, or ever been forced to? (Yes, even in Texas, some of us have basements.) There’s also a basement in your own mind. Just locking the door with a huge padlock won’t prevent it from being opened if there’s an earthquake.

What better time is there to clean out our basements than now? Recently, I enrolled in a ho’oponopono course, after questioning it for years and putting off exploring it. I realized the simplicity of cleaning and its utter necessity in my life, and how helpful it would be for everyone.

16

The blatant message all these events are telling us? Deal with it. Procrastination helps us store untold amounts of things that, unless we deal with them now, will only cause greater backlash in the future and worse pain, unpleasantly forcing us to deal with them. Why not choose the time and pick the way you want to do it, rather than having circumstances choose it for you? There’s so much creative and loving assistance right now to help us as we continue on our human sojourn to becoming cosmic humans, joining the cosmic crew. What’s the waiting game going to accomplish? Anyah Dishon is director of the fourth Annual Awesmic City Expo, 2017, an awesome cosmic team forming in Austin for the peace-building month of December to prepare for a better year in 2018. Awesmic healing opportunities include a variety of holistic therapies, products, books, music, crystals. If you have a holistic or spiritual practice, product, or business and would like to be a member of the Awesmic 2017 crew, registration is open for exhibitor booths, speaker slots, and classes. December 16-17, Palmer Events Center, just down the hall from Austin’s most popular Christmas bazaar. Info, registration: (888) 509-8872, www.AwesmicCityExpo.com

Harvesting their deep harmony by Caroleen Thompson Harvest Season brings many holidays, many get-togethers. We love and nurture our relationships, love getting up close and personal, spending time together in all kinds of ways. Is there something magnetic bringing people to friendships, partnerships, celebrations, ceremonies? Beyond liking the same things, beyond faith and duty, there’s a wonderful expectancy bringing and holding people together. Some may say it’s a meeting of minds, or sensations of the heart. People are meant to have many healthy relationships, and harmony is what holds them in unions. Body language – non-verbal physical behavior, as opposed to words – conveys information. Most of us understand it, in our visual space. What about personal subtle energy fields and centers, part of our bioenergy we mostly don’t see? Is there something going on there, a form of communication with another person, even if we’re unaware of its message? Does activity in our energy fields and centers play a role in our connections to?

Your energy field talks to all other fields.

your health and happiness – you really can’t hold anger unless you tense some muscles in your body. Is something not moving in your meridians? Seek out acupuncture or acupressure, so movement can remove blocks. These healing arts work wonders for distressed organs. Energy Medicine of many varieties works through energy fields to create balance, removing worn out thoughtforms and attachments that no longer do you good. Harvest season traditionally brings people back into your life through celebration. This is the time to note your own reactions and be conscious to your relationships, deepening them, creating great memories, and establishing love. Harmony is a wonderful life style – and it comes naturally. Caroleen Thompson is an Energy Medicine practitioner, spiritual consultant, native Hawaiian Lomilomi therapist, teacher, writer, and artist, and provides precise assistance to each client according to their soul journey. This is our universal connection to all life, as we come together for adventures with each other. Ever met someone who had something you just couldn’t harmonize with, and wonder why? Sometimes life gives us a kick – and leaves a mark. If that mark interferes with happiness, seek good professional assistance. With the plethora of wellestablished complimentary therapies, there’s a grand variety of help with issues around love and relationships. Telltale signs you’re needing redirection is if your thoughts often drift toward the same story of loss or injustice – and each time, you’re left unhappier. This misconception lingers within your thought patterns and emotional behaviors, causing drama and creating certain repetitive reactions from people you know. You sense something is just off.

It’s easier than you think to change the way a story can – or even did – end. When you move from boo-hoo, they done me wrong to the gifts of a former relationship, you’ve brought it into balance. The injustice becomes neutral, so the magnetic aspect is neutral. Forgiveness of your own self and all involved is a huge step. Need assistance? There are many successful, competent, complimentary therapists right here in Austin – life coaches and spiritual consultants to talk it out with, hypnotherapists to dive deeper into hidden causes, psychotherapists to talk to, maybe even get needed medication, massage and bodywork of all kinds to unlock holding patterns and memories. Stressed couples can get professional massages at the same time, allowing body tension to go. It can be a relationship reset button. Letting go of tight muscles adds to

LOVING YOUR MONSTER by Chrstina Allen Halloween may be over, but many manyy off us always alwaay ays h have ave a part of ourselves that at lurks in th the he shad shadows, dowss, grum grumbling mblin ng aand ng nd d rattling its chains, looking oking for a w way ayy ou out. ut. It’s important to realize these are monsters we’ve created ourselves. They’re not evil demons that possess our souls – they come from the depths of our psyches. While demons have their realm, these monsters are unacknowledged parts of ourselves with no outlet for expression. Aspects of our personality that are socially taboo, such as being “too” insecure, sensitive, or emotional, have no place in our culture, so we pack them away. When our sensitivity becomes too much, our emotions run too high, or we feel especially small, these repressed parts burst through to the surface, to our horror. SuperCeptors are people who are highly sensitive to environmental energies. They pick up on other people’s emotions, earthquakes, solar flux, astrological shifts, and activity in the spiritual realms. While quite gifted as intuitives, this massive input of information overloads their nervous systems daily. The smallest things can then send them over the edge. Since emotional outbursts are uncomfortable for everyone, SuperCeptor children learn early to hide their sensitivity and sit on their emotions. This, however, amounts to sitting on a powder keg.

All kinds of people have monsters. There are green-eyed jealousy monsters who attack those who seem to have more than they do. People who have been abused, or who suffer from PTSD because of violent events from their past, also have monsters. They feel forever unsafe. When they perceive a new situation as being potentially violent, the sensitive part that was never able to defend itself in the original trauma comes blasting out to prevent any further instances of abuse. Sensing deep inside that we have a monster is one of the primary reasons some people have trouble with intimacy. How can we ever be loved when we know such a creature

lives within us? There is such shame around having this part of ourselves exposed that we want to believe it is not us. We may instead blame others for provoking us. Sometimes we’re so certain that we’re the gardens we have been carefully cultivating, it feels like we’ve been overtaken by a foreign energy when our monsters come out. We then blame it on an outside force taking possession of us. We do ourselves a great disservice, however, when we do not instead do the deep work of finding the disowned part of ourselves dwelling deep within.

Being wounded is another thing we put in shadow. If you still have triggers, and a monster escaping from your cellar from time to time, there’s still work to do. We have to develop compassion for our monsters, learn to love them. When we work through the shame of having one, we’ll see a giant lion within who simply needs the thorns extracted from his paw. It is a magnificent part of ourselves that gives us courage and strength, but we cannot claim it until we release it from its bindings by acknowledging it. We cannot communicate with it, nor hear what its needs are, until we claim it. As we learn to love our monsters, we become integrated and whole. We become truly grounded in our power, knowing how to navigate its depths, when we integrate our light with our dark. Instead of well-manicured gardens to tend to, we roam potent jungles, thriving with allies. Christina Allen’s work as an intuitive, healer, teacher, and founder and director of the Austin Shamanic Center combines a strong science background (BA Physics, MS Neuroscience) with decades of applied ancient spiritual wisdom (Master Yogi, Reiki Master, and profound Shamanic Healing based on Q’ero Indian traditions of Peru). ENERGETIC B EINGS In today’s High-Tech world by Phyllis by Ph hy yll llis iss Light, Lig igh htt, PhD PhD D We’re all ene energetic erg get etic t b beings eiing ngss aatt our core, spiritua spiritual al b al beings ein ei ngs ngs composed com mpossed of of light lig gh htt aand nd d eenergy nerg ne rgyy in our essence, inhabit inhabiting itiing a body bo dyy and dh having avin av ing in gap physical hysi sica icall exp experience perience in a third-dimensional third-d dim i ensional world. Many can only relate to whom they are as physical beings, unaware off any kind off meta-physical reality, or energetic realm,, underlying all that exists physically. y

Not everyone is fully awakened to the true energetic nature of life. This happens when the soul is ready for a deeper understanding of who you really are. We’re all in different places along the awakening continuum, and it can be a lifelong process, beginning at different times for different people. If you can understand or begin to accept this Higher or deeper energetic reality to life, then the rest of what’s discussed here will make sense. Take a look at the world, from an energetic point of view. Everything has energy. Some of it feels pleasant (sitting by a babbling brook, strolling down a leafy path through a forest), and some of it feels intense or overwhelming (trying to hail a cab at rush hour in NYC, working in an office with dozens of computers and overhead florescent lights).

We react to energy all the time, without even thinking about its effect. Detrimental energies hit us all the time in our high-tech world, although we’ve come to accept them as the norm. Sit in front of a computer, use an iPad, iPhone, or other electronic tablet or device, have WiFi in your home or office, watch TV, listen to the radio – unbeknownst to you, you’re experiencing an onslaught of negative energies extremely problematic for you, long-term. The late Dr. George Yao, noted scientist and pioneer in electromagnetic field (EMF) research, reported over thirty years ago, “The typical American gets electromagnetic radiation up to two-hundred million times more intense than his ancestors took in from the sun, stars, and other natural sources.” His findings would be different today, with

20

the widespread use of smart phones, smart meters, wireless Internet, and handheld electronic devices.

Today it’s estimated, in most major U.S. cities, we’re hit by approximately 300,000 lifedamaging frequencies per minute! Years ago, Dr. Yao taught that exposure to EMFs causes depression, irritability, fatigue, stress, and immune system disorders. Yet we’ve embraced our high-tech devices, clueless of the tremendous impact they’re having on health and wellbeing. Since frequencies are invisible, it’s easy to pretend (or be ignorant of the fact) that there’s a problem. We humans are great at adapting. If we feel more tired, we drink more coffee, eat more doughnuts. Feel depressed, we turn to anti-depressants, which helps you not feel whatever’s going on. Feel really bad, we may turn to drugs as a way to escape an unhappy reality. And we think all these choices are normal. First, it’s not normal to be hit by 300,000 life-damaging frequencies per minute. In fact, it’s inhumane. Second, it’s not normal to feel depressed all the time, or stressed, or irritable, or have a weakened immune system. When I moved to Austin, everyone warned me, “You will get allergies – everyone does here, eventually. The cedars will get you at some point!” I’ve been in this part of the country for twenty-four years, and have never once succumbed to allergies. Why? Because I’ve been able to protect myself from all these detrimental frequencies hitting me, and my immune system has remained uncompromised. All of these negative frequencies wear you down, weaken you, create allergies and other autoimmune system disorders.

They also make you age faster. The detrimental energies hit the subtle pineal and pituitary glands, the master glands, and this impacts the hormonal system, which rules brain, sleep, and aging function. Many people have problems sleeping at night, and many are aging faster without realizing it. Look at all the young

men who are losing their hair – bald has become a fashion statement, but this is how we cope. We age faster so we make it fashionable to become bald earlier. None of this is natural, or how it should be. As energetic beings, we are truly reeling under the impact of all these EMFs and other high-tech frequencies, and we are slowly but surely being drained of our life force and spiritual connection. Yes, these frequencies actually disconnect us from our Higher Self, create fragmentations of our energy field that position themselves at the crown chakra, the seventh chakra, and block the influx of spiritual energy through the chakra system. Because of these negative fields and frequencies, we are being drained of our intuition and ability to discern, disconnected from who we are as spiritual beings, and blocked in our ability to feel love.

After standing on the rooftops for over thirty years now, shouting, “People, these frequencies, they’re not good for you…” we keep getting hit by more and more, over time. It’s insane. I almost want to come down from the rooftops – a tiring solo job – but instead, I invite you to join me on the rooftops, where we can all make a difference by telling others what we know. I like that idea better. Yes, I’ve figured out how to keep us well in a high-tech world. But the most important thing first is educating people that there’s a problem. Without such education, no one will take action. Why would you be interested in a solution when you don’t even know there is a problem? Once you realize action needs to be taken, then you will find the best solutions for yourself and your loved ones. Remember, it’s no accident you decided to read this article.

THE COLOR OF THE FALL

The Art of Denise M. Fulton

Autumn Dance

Austin artist Denise Fulton, an Ohio native, earned a Fine Arts degree and promptly disappeared down the rabbit hole of the corporate world for a couple of decades, helping produce high-profile video games but devoting time and energy to painting. Making the jump to a professional fine art career in 2009, her work’s been in prestigious shows and private collections around the country.

Her figures of women range from soft, muted tones to splashes of red, yellow, and blue, like the palette of a woman’s emotions, rising and falling. Her landscapes are brilliant fields of color, each of them carefully defined but still blending into a seamless whole – a frozen Van Gogh moment of stillness and movement at the same time. There’s an old adage that those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach – but visual artists never pay old adages much mind. The creative drive that makes them artists in the first place simply won’t let them teach art without doing art. Along with other Austin artists, she’s starting a realist art school, Atelier Dojo Austin, opening in April 2018.

Follow Your Inner Clues to Find True Success Excerpted from the new book by Rizwan Virk In some Buddhist traditions, the process of incarnating requires crossing the River of Forgetfulness, where we forget all about past lives and the intent, mission, and karma we are here to fulfill in this life. Similarly, in Chinese mythology, the goddess Meng Po is the Lady of Forgetfulness, and she brews up a Tea of Forgetfulness we drink just before incarnating. This helps us forget past lives so we can have a fresh start. Unfortunately, it also causes us to forget memories of the in-between place as well, including our mission for this life. Sometimes we’re given a direct glimpse of our life’s work. Winston Churchill was said to have told a friend when he was just a boy that one day he was going to be called on to save the British Empire. Most of us don’t get a direct vision or message of what we’re meant to do, but we usually have hunches and guesses. Little glimpses of things draw our attention -- interests, activities, and people that bring us joy. These are little clues placed for us along the way, like breadcrumbs leading us on a cosmic treasure hunt, back to the place and person we were meant to be in this life.

Recognizing the clues and following the map. Most of what we call science is a series of models about how the universe works. In one, clues come not from the unconscious as much as the pre-conscious, from the place before you were born, the place in-between life and death. We set ourselves up to meet certain people and make certain decisions, and to ensure we don’t forget, we set up clues. In another model, the more religious model, there are spiritual guides and guardian angels constantly watching us and sending us messages, or the clues are actually messages from God. In the Islamic model, there is even a formal term, Istikhara, for asking for guidance from God. While all these models have pluses and minuses, they’re essentially saying the same thing. Keep an open mind about where your personal clues may come from, but go with whatever model seems best to you. Dear Ashtara: Messages from Your Angels and Master Teachers Dear Ashtara, I am thinking of moving to where I can be near the ocean. Where would be a beneficial place for me to live and be in service to others? Jenna, 60, Austin, TX Dear Jenna, It looks like your life will change as a result of a monumental, exciting, and transformative event. Stay tuned because there will be circumstances which could affect your life when you decide to “ride the tide”. It also seems that Bali, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands are calling you. But, where will you really go? Luck will find you, because your destiny is in full bloom. Your Guardian Angel is Gabriel and your High Teacher is Ashtar. Stay tuned and they will fill you in with all the details.

Dear Ashtara, I’m recently divorced after a long marriage, not sure about my future. Jan, 59, San Antonio, TX Dear Jan, Destiny will allow you to re-marry when you feel like you are ready to take that leap into the unknown. It seems that you are not either up to par, or your career is not right. Whatever the reason, decide that you will shift in accordance with your angel, Michael’s, messages to you.

Dear Ashtara, I am thinking about leaving Texas and moving to Santa Barbara. There is a great opportunity there with a new job. I am used to running from o place to place. But I don’t want to make a bad decision. Any clear message would be appreciated. Nina, 39, Round Rock, TX Dear Nina, It looks like you have finally hit the jackpot, because you have paid your dues. Santa

Barbara, according to your records, is exactly where you are supposed to be at this particular time. You should stay there indefinitely, where you will find a new life. Santa Barbara is one of the most beautiful places in the world, filled with metaphysical and spiritual people. In other words, it is right up your alley. Your guardian angel is Raphael and your ascended saint above is Metatron.

Dear Ashtara, We are considering doing Sunday services at our Chapel. I may do some myself and also bring others in. Will this work? Will the services attract people and will it help the Chapel? What is the best way to promote it? Susan, 56, Whitney, TX Dear Susan, Thank you for the light that you share with everyone and for the amount of service that you and others have done for your precious Chapel. Sunday services are imminent, needed, and desired by many people. The best way to promote it is by networking and advertising your website. Your highest teacher is Ashtar, your angel is Michael.

DOES HOLISTIC HEALING COME FROM…

THE

DEVIL? by Michael Abedin Well… no. Dabble in the holistic healing arts to any degree, however, and chances are you’ll encounter some variation of such a question. There are two ways to handle it. The first is to open your eyes really wide, throw your hands in the air, and cry out in a loud voice. “Someone finally figured it out! We’ve kept it a secret for thousands of years, but you saw right through it. Now that the secret’s out, we can take over the world! Ahahahahaha….” This approach is not recommended with anyone with whom you ever hope to have any contact again whatsoever, and has not been tested in the field. Proceed with caution. Should you give it a shot, by all means send a report. (Preferably, a video.) The other, safer option would simply be to say, “No, of course it doesn’t.” Then change the subject. Maybe something like, “How ‘bout them Cowboys?” If that doesn’t work, try…

The parable. If you want to go for it, point out the individual after whom Christianity was named addresses this very question head on, when the Scribes and Pharisees accused Him of casting out demons – a metaphor for miraculous, instantaneous healings – in the name of the Devil. (Not exactly sure who the Scribes and Pharisees were. Scribes probably ran around jotting everything down with some kind of quill pen, and Pharisees almost certainly had something to do with funny hats.) Jesus’ response was, of course, inspired. If the Devil’s now in the business of healing, of casting out his own demons, we’re making progress. The actual passage is often incorrectly attributed to Abraham Lincoln, who used it in a speech. It’s found in the book of Matthew, and those of Mark and Luke. A house divided against itself cannot stand. If the Devil’s doing our work for us, He said, let him, and he will destroy his own house. In the meantime, He would continue doing the work of God. Matthew doesn’t report on their reaction, but the Pharisees probably skulked away muttering to themselves, while the Scribes wrote it all down. If the parable doesn’t work – well, you might try the hand waving, crazy laughter thing. Then run away.
