Pure Sol Spa and Salt Cave has its roots in Poland, home to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, where 1M international visitors seek treatment each year in the mine’s rehabilitation rooms to treat respiratory, cardiovascular and stressrelated illnesses. Puresól’s owner, Beata Huzarska Hatley, came from a family where her father designed and built coal mines and was an instructor at the AGH University of Mining and Metallurgy in Poland. His research proved that workers in the salt mines were spared the ailments of those

At the confluence of Cibolo and Currey Creeks, a 150-foot pedestrian bridge nestled among the trees offers a birds’-eye view of a refreshing waterfall and crystal clear flowing stream.

THE ARTS Art al Fresco and Boerne’s Public Art Program
Art al Fresco, an “art on loan” program, is an outdoor public art competition that temporarily places sculptures throughout historic downtown Boerne’s Hill Country Mile and nearby Trail System. Ten sculptures are in place until March 2019, when a new exhibit will be installed. Enjoy a walking tour of the sculptures in the heart of Boerne and become part of the art by VOTING for your favorite(s)! The experience engages the senses when paired with the free Otocast app, where patrons learn about the sculptures through recorded narratives from the artists themselves.
In addition to Art al Fresco, don’t miss Boerne’s permanent public art pieces, scattered throughout the downtown area, which include a bronze statue of Wild Bill Hickok at Main Plaza and “Father Gander” on River Road. Bandera
The self-proclaimed “Cowboy Capital of the World” is a throwback to the days of the Old West. Bandera was the starting point of the Great Western Cattle Trail during the late 19th century. Today, the town is known for its abundance of
saloons, honky-tonks, dude ranches, Main Street shopping and its fierce loyalty to the Cowboy way. (Drive from Boerne: 30 minutes)
Bergheim
is part of Kendall County, and the name means “Mountain Home” in German. One of the must-see stops there is the Bergheim General Store, an old-fashioned store like you knew as a kid. Also nearby, The Round Up is an outdoor beer garden with great touring bands and a playground for the kids. O’Brien’s also offers rustic, elegant Texas cuisine and music. Historic Camp Verde
was the 1854 site of Jefferson Davis’ “Texas Camel Experiment”. Robert E. Lee was said to have laid out the grounds, including the officer’s quarters and the camel pens. A longtime general store and post office for soldiers, the present-day two-story Southern colonial stone Camp Verde General Store is a fabulous shopping and dining destination. Comfort
is famously unincorporated, and that’s exactly how the locals like it! A large number of antique dealers, whimsical retail stores, wineries and eclectic eateries make up the downtown district. Fredericksburg is a German-heritage town that is home to many national museums and attractions including the National Museum of the Pacific War, the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park and LBJ State Park. Lots of shopping, dining and art galleries in the area, and enough wineries to rival Napa Valley. The Rockbox Theater offers Branson-type entertainment with family-friendly performances. The popular Wildseed Farms offers great picture-taking spots where visitors can walk among the seasonal crops. Ingram is nestled on the Guadalupe river between Kerrville and Hunt. Historic Old Ingram Loop is a working artists’ colony along the banks of the Guadalupe River. While you’re there, check out Stonehenge II—a life-sized replica of the original one— which sits on the grounds of Ingram’s Point Theater. (Drive from Boerne: 35 minutes)
New Braunfels
This fellow Germanheritage Hill Country town offers a variety of shopping, dining and events that take place throughout the year. Some of our very first settlers emigrated from New Braunfels, and we continue a shared history of our European influence. One of their most popular annual events is WurstFest. (Drive from Boerne: 60 minutes)
San Antonio is filled with family activities including Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Sea World, the Alamo and the world-famous River Walk. For shopping, La Cantera Mall offers luxury, upscale stores in an outdoor “al fresco” setting. (Drive from Boerne: 20 minutes)
Sisterdale,
a once-thriving center of German abolitionism and Unionism, it became a quiet hamlet after the Civil War. Today, it features Sister Creek Vineyards, Saint Tryphon Farm and Vineyards, Sisterdale Saloon, a handful of wonderful artisan shops and Blackboard Bar-B-Q--- a great afternoon stop. Kerrville
sits along the banks of the Guadalupe River and has a vibrant cultural and arts scene. There is a great walkable downtown area where you will find many of the retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. The Museum of Western Art, and The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center are popular with art patrons. Seasonally, there are many nature activities along the river including kayaking, bird-watching and more.
