From the COMPOSER Jay M. DeVaughn Greetings to you, I am completely ecstatic that you have decided to come to this live recording of my God-given Resurrection Cantata, RISEN VICTORIOUS. I guess I am even more excited because this is also the first live recording of the music God gave me to honor Him and to bless others. It occurred to me while completing the Christmas Cantata, A Joyful Nativity, that many know that Jesus was born for us, but are not spiritually aware about the sacrifice our Lord made for us and the great hope He brought with Him when He rose from the dead. This is the reason that Risen Victorious was created, to musically depict the Passion and the Resurrection. It was hard to compose this cantata because The Holy Bible has four separate accounts chronicling the events before, during, and after the Passion. The challenge was to bring all of them together into one full body of work. So, I enlisted the advice from a dear friend of mine, Rev. Carlos Younger, and he said, “There are four different accounts, but they all have the same story. Just focus on that.� And the result is what you are about to see. I would like to say thank you to Almighty GOD for enabling my hand to write about His Son, Jesus Christ. I thank my beloved friends in the music ministry, JABEZ, for all the rehearsals and sacrifices you made. I thank our producer Rayshod Caldwell and all our guest singers for their agreement to be a part of this offering. It was a complete honor, from start to finish. I thank Rev. Lee A. Williams Jr. and Father Kevin A. Fausz for your allowing us to rehearse in the sanctuaries of the churches you lead. And I thank Bishop Brent Bryant for allowing us to have the live recording here in Redeeming Grace Church as well as the church for their hospitality. I thank every financial supporter and well-wisher for your donations and your prayers and I thank the three organizations we are contributing to. Your work is important to every survivor of health transition in this city and we salute you. Lastly, I thank everyone else who contributed in any way to this project. And I thank YOU for coming. Enjoy the ministry and remember that we all are winners because we are one with Jesus Christ, who has RISEN VICTORIOUS!
