LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello residents, neighbors and friends. Spring is in full bloom and there is lots happening in the neighborhood. The pool is open and many residents are taking advantage despite the bone chilling water temperature. No matter how cold the water, it doesn’t seem to bother the younger residents. In case you missed it, we had a fantastic Music in the Park event on April 29th. Passing Strangers, a longtime San Antonio favorite, headlined the show. That evening a serious storm passed through the area with 40 mph winds and some light hail. The 200+ crowd could see the storm approaching so everyone who decided to stay packed under the pavilion and were treated to a great concert. Kids were running around playing in the rain, and the band kept on playing. Some folks got a little wet but were treated to a great event! The storm that night, coupled with a few previous storms filled the lake back up to capacity and the park maintenance crews continue to keep the park in tip top shape. It looks great and there are many residents there every weekend. In case you haven’t seen them, the two newest upgrades to the park are complete. A new full court basketball court has been installed in place of one of the older tennis courts, and the other older tennis court has been refurbished and is completely new. Both additions look great and will provide additional areas for folks to exercise and stay fit. A special shout out to TPOA Board Member Chris Martinez who took the lead on this project. He did a great job getting the project finished in a timely fashion and within budget. On May 10th, the Board held the first of many meetings to discuss updating the clubhouse. The topics were very general in nature as at the time of the meeting, no specific decisions had been
made. The Board intends on having many other informational meetings regarding the clubhouse, possibly on the months opposite the regular board meetings. Perhaps in the future, we may be able to roll both meetings into one, once all the planning decisions are made. With the summer months quickly approaching, I’d like to use the rest of my letter to address the parents of children, teens, and young adults that use the park during the summer. Timberwood Park is a very unique community because it offers a huge park with many amenities for all the residents. The park is a perfect place for kids to spend much of their summer time. Whether it be the pool, bike/ walking trail, playground, sport courts, or fishing lake, there are many things to keep them occupied. However, some of the kids that play at the park occasionally will use poor judgement and get into mischief. So I ask all parents who have kids that use the park to take a few minutes TO PLEASE REVIEW SOME OF THE PARK RULES with their children. • There is NO swimming or wading permitted Continued inside

in the lake! Any persons wading or swimming in the lake may be asked to leave the park. • Fishing at the lake is CATCH AND RELEASE only. Please do not discarded fishing line at the park. Ducks and other wildlife can get entangled in discarded line.
The Clubhouse is open to property owners and their guests Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM. The Clubhouse is closed on Mondays for cleaning.
• Motorized vehicles are not permitted to be off of the parking lot pavement; including scooters, golf carts and motor bikes.
Fitness Center Hours:
• No skateboards, skates, scooters, bicycles, hover boards, or any wheeled equipment is permitted on the tennis courts or basketball courts. The wheels will damage the court surface.
Monday: 12:00PM- 9:30PM Tuesday-Sunday: 5:30AM - 9:30PM The Fitness Center is closed on Monday until 12:00PM for equipment maintenance and cleaning.
• No children under the age of 16 are permitted in the gym unless they have adult supervision.
To reserve the clubhouse, please contact the on-site office Wednesday- Friday from 3-7 PM at 830.980.3349.
Please remind your children that there are security cameras at various locations around the park and any residents caught vandalizing any park facilities will be responsible for the cost of any repairs and could have their park privileges revoked. We will also have staff members patrolling the park at various times. Tell your children that these individuals have the authority to ask them to leave the park. We want the kids to use the park to its fullest potential, but also want to make sure the facilities are not abused. I encourage parents to explain to the kids that this is their park and all residents pay fees to upkeep and improve the park. I also encourage all residents to remember this as you use the park. The park and the amenities are here for all to use. You assessment fees go towards the upgrading and upkeep of the park. If you see a child, teen or any resident that is not following the rules, don’t be afraid to speak up and say something. Remember, the park is your park. Please treat it that way. For Your Safety and the Viability of the Park Lake NO SWIMMING/WADING ALLOWED IN LAKE In recent weeks there has been an unusual increase in the number of kids and even a few adults wading and/or swimming in the park lake. Please be advised that this is STRICTLY PROHIBITED for a number of reasons: • First, it is a largely stagnant body of water, which brings with it health hazards; • Second, there are venomous snakes and other wildlife that could cause you harm; • Third, the lake bottom was lined with a layer of clay in 2014 to stop the subsurface leaking that was contributing to the lake drying out. (This was a very expensive undertaking, but the benefit has been a full or near-full lake since the project took place.) People walking in that clay could compromise the clay's viability. So please be advised that anybody caught swimming or wading in the lake will be asked to leave the park, and if there are repeated violations by any individual, it can lead to the suspension or loss of park privileges! Also, if you are at the park and see somebody in the lake, please remind them of the risks mentioned above, and ask them to get out immediately. You may also inform the park caretaker or office staff member if they are on staff at that time. We realize that it is getting warmer, but the lake is simply not an appropriate or safe place for a swim, and this rule is for the protection of our residents and for the protection of one of the neighborhood’s greatest assets.
