LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT On behalf of the TPOA Board of Directors, I’d like to extend a special thanks and farewell to Barrett and Ashleigh Pepper, who you probably know served as Park Caretakers for the last three and a half years. They were truly outstanding in that role. Not only were they very productive, organized and efficient, they always went above and beyond, and always did it with a smile and without complaint. They were welcoming and helpful to park guests, but they were firm when they needed to be with those who may not have been abiding by park rules or were causing trouble of some kind. They were largely responsible for the development and implementation of the successful pool and park monitor programs, and they did a great job of managing personnel in the pool and park, and maximizing their effectiveness while staying within budget. While the Peppers enjoyed the job, it had its share of challenges that come with being on-site caretakers for a facility that is open about 16 hours a day, seven days a week. A knock on the door was a regular occurrence whether they were sitting down to a family dinner or putting their young sons to bed, and vacation time was a rare occurrence. So while we will miss the Peppers, we wish them all the best in their new “normal” life! At the time of this writing, we have asked residents to submit their names or the names of anybody who they know who might be interested in the Park Caretaker position, and we’re glad to see some great candidates expressing interest. We will be interviewing candidates and hopefully we will be announcing the new Park Caretaker(s) later this month. We are also thankful to Sarah Thibodeaux who stepped up and offered to cover the position on an interim basis. Sarah was the ideal person for this role given that she has served as a Pool Monitor, Park Monitor, and has assisted the Peppers and park office staff in various other functions and administrative roles. With regard to park security, we are pleased that our expanded and enhanced security camera system is now in place and is operational. The system includes 14 new high-definition cameras that have infrared night-vision capabilities along with a state-of-the-art monitoring and digital recording system. This brings our total number of security cameras in the park to 23. Hopefully there won’t be too much of a need to use them in relation to problem issues, but it’s good they’re there should the need arise. Work on the clubhouse design continues, and we had great response to the floor plan that was presented at the August 1 community board meeting was very well received. We look forward to presenting a much more thorough design and cost to the community very soon so that it can be voted on to determine whether or not we proceed with the project. Lastly, on the heels of Timberwood Park’s 40th anniversary came the passing of its legendary developer, G.G. Gale. It was his vision and hard work that not only got Timberwood Park started, but helped make it the amazing community that it is today. And of course, anybody who spent any time in San Antonio in the last 40 years probably heard his frequent radio ads promoting Timberwood Park. On behalf of the TPOA Board, I’d like to extend my condolences to G.G.’s family and many friends. Thanks for your time, and I’ll see you around the neighborhood. Greg Matula TPOA Board President

Next Board Meeting All Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse at the Park. October 3, 2017
