LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Happy summer, Happy Independence Day to all of you (or belated Happy Independence Day depending on when you receive or read this)! We’re all very lucky to live in such a great country and great neighborhood! In this issue of the newsletter, there are a couple of things that we’re particularly excited about. First, there’s a color rendering of the final park master plan. This plan culminates years of discussions and exchanges of ideas among community members and past and present board members. As you will see, it really shows the great potential we have at the park to make it an even better place for our residents of all ages. As we say every time we reference the master plan, it is a long-term plan and may be subject to change depending on the community’s future needs and/or desires. But I hope you’ll agree that it’s a great starting point for continued progress. We’ve also started a new newsletter tradition of recognizing and celebrating our residents who are high school and college graduates each year. The response to the call for photos was great, and congratulations to all of the graduates! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank resident Paul Rutowski, who for years has led our Crime Watch efforts, and more recently, started up and managed our Citizens On Patrol (COP) program. Paul stepped down from leadership of these roles last month, even though he agreed to remain a Crime Watch block captain and a COP member. Thank you, Paul, for your service to our community and your efforts to keep everybody vigilant about crime, and thanks for agreeing to stay involved in the effort. At the time of this writing, the Board is discussing a replacement for Paul and other ideas for the Crime Watch program, while the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in finding a new person to lead the COP program in our area since that program is officially sponsored by the Sheriff’s Department. Speaking of crime, we were thankful that Deputy Richard Lozano from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department Office Community Services Unit came to speak at our June 6 community Board meeting. Deputy Lozano and Sergeant Garza, who directly oversees the patrols in our neighborhood and others in the region, noted that Timberwood Park has a very low crime rate relative to other areas of town. A report

Deputy Lozano gave indicated only a few minor crime issues occurred in the neighborhood in the month of May. While a couple of more serious crimes were reported, Deputy Lozano noted that those crimes did not actually occur in Timberwood Park, but the reports show where the report was taken, not where the crime actually occurred. With all of that said, both Lozano and Garza reminded those in attendance that vigilance is key to keeping that low crime rate, so if you see something that looks suspicious, don’t hesitate to contact the Sheriff’s office. If you believe it’s serious, obviously call 911, but if it’s of lesser importance, you can call the department’s non-emergency line at 210335-6010. Lastly, some of you may know that there is a group set up on nextdoor.com called “Community-HOA-Leadership”. Please be advised that this is not a source for information from the TPOA Board. In fact, the members of the board who were on the group were removed. At this time official information from the Board will continue to come in this newsletter, eblasts sent out via Spectrum, and at the public board meetings held every other month. Thanks for your time, and I’ll see you around the neighborhood! Greg Matula TPOA Board President

Next Board Meeting All Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse at the Park. August 1, 2017
