- Tell us about yourself

AB:

Hey there! My name is Amanda and I’m 22 years old. I’m a single mother to a beautiful 18 month old daughter named Tatum. She’s my whole world. I come from a small town in Oklahoma, I’m full blood okie and a die hard OSU fan. I work full time as a caregiver to a class of fun toddlers. When I’m not working I love to hangout with my family and I have a secret love for singing, especially christian music. I also love dancing.

I was a studio dancer for 16 years and got the privilege to teach as well. I’m recently divorced and just following my dreams of modeling and seeing where it takes my daughter and I.

- Who has influenced you most in your life? Why?

AB:

Jesus Christ has influenced my life in so many ways.

He’s always been there for me. When I went through the worst year of my life, He was right there with me guiding me.

If not for His love and constant grace I wouldn’t be where I am today. He has made me so much stronger than I could have ever imagined. He’s the best teacher there is. He taught me as long as I have Him on my side, there’s nothing I can’t do.

My faith in the Lord is stronger than it’s ever been, and that’s because when one door closes, He has always opened a bigger and better door for me. I owe everything in my life to Him.

- What is your ultimate goal in life?

AB: To be the best Christian I can be first and foremost, to be the best mother and role model to my daughter and to live a happy and successful life.

- What is your top three favorite books and why?

AB: 1.

The Bible. Because when I’m having a rough day, no matter what page I open to, it’s exactly what I needed to hear and makes me feel 100% better.

2. “The Prey” and “The Hunt” by Allison Brennan. I absolutely love every book written by Allison, but these two are my top two.

Starting from the very first sentence, she pulls you in. There’s not a dull moment on any page in her books. I have a serious obsession with suspense and crime shows, and this is the perfect mix of suspense and romance. She details her books so well, I can easily get sucked into them for hours.

- Where would you go if you could travel anywhere in the world & Why?

AB: Really to travel and see any

country in the world is a dream of mine.

It would be awesome to go to Italy, experience another culture and get to eat my way through a country, haha.

- Do you dream often?

AB: I do dream often. Most of the time when I dream, I can fly and soar way up high in the sky. I love it. That would be my choice of super power, haha.

- Tell me something “weird” about you.?

AB: Something weird about me, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, but whatever I’m eating I have to have something to dip it in.

For instance- I dip grapes in Nutella and Oreos in peanut butter. And almost any food I’ll dip in ranch, cheese or gravy. Maybe that’s just the “okie” in me ;)

- Where do you see yourself in five years?

A AB:

oméntenos un poco de usted. ¿Hace cuánto tiempo hace ejercicio?

Hace 1 año dedico dos horas de mi tiempo para ejercitarme una hora de ejercicio pesado y una de baile es un gran esfuerzo pero vale la pena pues me siento muy bien y con mucha energía.

Gracias a que también tengo muy buena nutrición consumiendo productos naturales pues me ayudan a nutrirme bien a mantenerme saludable y con mucha energía me gusta lo que hago y me divierto mucho.

¿Qué consejos le daría a las madres, que dicen qué no tienen tiempo para hacer ejercicios?

Que para todo hay tiempo no todo en la vida es puro trabajar también tenemos que consentirnos y cuidar nuestra salud que se hagan un espacio aunque sea de 30 minutos para salir a caminar diariamente es muy saludable y es una

manera de ejercitase aparte de que es un buen relax.

¿Cuáles son sus sueños, sus metas de la vida? ¿Cuáles a cumplido y cuáles faltan por cumplir?

Bueno pues mis sueños han sido muchos algunos ya se realizaron como este que acabo de realizar gracias a Uds. otros pues por una cosa u otra no se ha podido realizar pero pues seguiremos trabajando y luchando por los sueños .

What Good is Gratitude?

E

specially around this time of year we have frequent reminders to be thankful, and to count our blessings.

But what good is gratitude?

1. Having an attitude of gratitude allows us to celebrate the present. Did you pause today to notice the beauty of the sky? The warmth in the smile of your child? The magic in having drinkable water in hot or cold with the turn of a faucet? Being thankful for the wonders that are all around us lets us focus on all of the good things we have, rather than what aggravates us.

2. Gratitude strengthens social ties.

Gratitude has been called a “relationship strengthening emotion” because it helps us to think well of others. If you are thankful for a good meal, it causes you to think positively of the one who prepared it, or the one who worked to earn the money to buy it. If you are grateful for the beauty of a tiny flower or a grand old tree, you improve your relationship with Nature or the Creator who caused it to be.

3. Being grateful improves your health. A psychologist named Dr. Emmons has done a series of simple experiments. He randomly divided volunteers into two groups. In one group he asked them to keep a “gratitude journal” – to list 5 things for which they are thankful each day. He then asked the other group to keep a “complaint

journal” – to list 5 things which aggravated them each day. At the end of 3 weeks he evaluated their blood pressure, and asked them questions about their health and happiness. He found that the grateful group had about 10% lower blood pressure, had exercised more, had fewer aches, slept longer, and awakened more refreshed than the complaint group.

It turns out that being thankful has lots of benefits. It helps us to feel more positive, have better relationships, and helps our health. So on Thursday when you sit down to that turkey dinner, take a moment to list 5 things for which you are grateful. Then continue that practice every day.
