Llano’s newest family restaurant on the Square

Legends are not born but created by people who find someone or something memorable and continue to share it with others. The Trailblazer Grille has become a Hill Country Legend because they serve classic comfort food, made from scratch, filled with love and “Hill Country Hospitality.”

The first restaurant on the Square in Burnet quickly became an anchor attracting locals and visitors who flock to the Texas Hill Country to enjoy the area’s magnificent lakes and scenic views. Liz and Trace Catlin’s original vision to provide good honest Texas-style food in a family environment has earned them numerous awards not only as the best restaurant in Burnet but a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor three years in a row.

Much has changed for them since they pulled their 33’ RV to Burnet and purchased a plot of ground for their future home. But, what has not changed, is their commitment to serving the highest quality food in a fun and welcoming environment.

When Trace began looking at opening another Trailblazer Grille, he was approached by six locations that needed a good restaurant. Interestingly, the Trailblazer in Llano is virtually in the same location as the Burnet restaurant, on the Square across from the courthouse. “We are

thrilled to be in Llano, everything just fell into place, and the timing was right for all that we have to offer.” The new location did require some extensive remodeling, but the finished restaurant, although not a mirror image of the one in Burnet, is designed to maintain the original appearance and flavor that has made the Trailblazer Grille famous.

Trace shared that the biggest challenge was staffing with people who understood the “Trailblazer Way” and the level of excellence that he and his wife, Liz, have continued to uphold.

If you are a fan of the Trailblazer in Burnet, much will be familiar with the Llano location, like hand-cut steaks grilled and seasoned to perfection and the famous chicken pot pie. You will also find classic meatloaf, chicken fried chicken and steak, catfish plates, and a local favorite, the ½ lb. Angus Burger. All the dressings are homemade, as well as the desserts like buttermilk, coconut, and chocolate crème pies, along with their renowned peach cobbler.

Old favorites like Cowboy Queso and Texas Nachos are also on the menu. However, a new addition to the Llano location is pizza in 10”, 14” and 16” as a build your own or a specialty pizza like creamy alfredo and grilled chicken.

Even a smaller version of the Candy Rush Emporium stocks old-fashioned items like Cowtales and Mallo Cups. Happy Hour is Monday -Friday from 4-6 pm featuring select beers for $2 and house wines for $3 and $2 off any appetizer. Veterans and Civil Servants always receive a 10% discount at the Trailblazer Grille. Hours are 11-8 on weekdays and 11-9 on Friday and Saturday, closed on Sunday. Most menu items are available by Door Dash, and both locations offer catering.

On the horizon for Llano is live music, Texas Hold’em, and murder mystery dinners. Liz and Trace Catlin welcome you to the newest Trailblazer Grill located at 109 West Main in historic downtown Llano, still “cooking up your cravings” with the best homestyle food always served with an extra helping of Hill Country Hospitality.
