A Letter to Our Readers Shortly after Austin All Natural debuted in June 2006, an artistic decision was made – more like an anti-cliché pact between editor and art director, actually. Never ever, it was decided, would the cover image or article illustrations feature happy, smiling, holistic people with arms raised over their heads.

This was based on a careful scan of a similar publication that featured not one, not two, but eleven such images in twenty-eight pages – about a forty percent gratuitous arms-up rating. A new path was blazed into the future, and has been followed faithfully.

(Okay, there was a small stock image of a ballet dancer in one article, but the arms weren’t even near full vertical, and it was determined to be non-gratuitous.)

Nothing, however, was ever said about legs or butts in the air, so April’s cover boy, an upside-down diver suspended between Earth and – um, Earth – was deemed acceptable.

Designed by cover artiste extraordinaire Leslie Kell, it’s the perfect fit for issue 96, a number that looks exactly the same right side up or upside down. Watch: 96.

The Remembering Process A Surprising (and Fun) Breakthrough New Way to Amazing Creativity Exclusive excerpts from the new book by Daniel Barrett and Joe Vitale Dr. Joe Vitale:

I’m a fan of spiritual teacher Neville Goddard. I’ve written about him a lot, especially in The Attractor Factor. I even republished his very first book, At Your Command. His method was to advise people to imagine they already had whatever they wanted. If you want a certain job, imagine you’re already working there. If you want a particular relationship, imagine you already have it. The more you can imagine your desire as a finished end result, the more you’re “Nevillizing” your goal.

Neville said, in At Your Command: If you are dissatisfied with your present expression in life, the only way to change it is to take your attention away from that which seems so real to you and rise in consciousness to that which you desire to be. You cannot serve two masters, therefore to take your attention from one state of consciousness and place it upon another is to die to one and live to the other.

The Remembering Process goes beyond what Neville taught. Remembering means you go past the event of having what you want, and turn around and look at it from the future.

Clearly you can’t see the end result if it hasn’t happened yet. So remembering lets you know that it did happen.

It beats most other imagery techniques – and, as it turns out, Neville talked about a form of “remembering” in 1968. He used it as an imagery method, but the idea was the same – simply remember what you want to experience.

In a sense, you assume your new reality by assuming you already have it. As Neville wrote, “Assumption hardens into fact.” Assume you already have the thing you wish to have or be, and your assumption creates a new reality.

Remembering builds on Nevillizing.

You not only get to do the Neville thing, but you also get to remember that you did it, which makes it even more powerful.

Daniel Barrett:

It’s like Schubert said: ‘I don’t make up my music; I remember it. I remember what I’m doing.’ The only responsibility is to take care of it . . . make sure you’re in good enough shape to deliver it, and make sure that you know what you’re doing… – Neil Young I was writing a song called Carter’s Tune in 1997. I remembered Emmylou Harris singing it, although the song had never been sung. I could see her onstage, singing it with Lyle Lovett.

It was early in my career, and I was running late for a job teaching preschool. The song came out in less than thirty minutes – whole and complete. I didn’t write down a single word of it, yet I performed it in its entirety that night at a show.

It’s still the easiest song I have to play, and by far my most requested song. It has a special shine to it, even though I was an inexperienced songwriter at the time.

I call the method that produced this result the “Remembering Process,” a game I invented as a music student in Boston to deal with unrest in the creative process. When it comes to creating, my body and mind have always rejected “trying.” I’ve tried to try. I think I’ve even tried to try to try. At best, it produced inauthentic results. At worst, it locked up my gears and led to creative depression.

I needed a way to create without straining so hard.

The Remembering Process was the answer. I didn’t have to try to create it anymore – I could just decide that it was already written, and then imagine what it sounded like.

I read, in an interview with Bob Dylan, that during the 1960s and ’70s he “received” songs from the great universal source. He talked about them as though they were their own entities – whole, separate, distinct from him, or from a belabored process of creation. He said, “I was just being swept by the wind, this way or that way.”

Other great musicians have attested to similar experiences. I couldn’t help but be curious about where these songs were coming from – and be inspired by the fact that, on occasion, I had moments when I was able to play the guitar in ways I hadn’t consciously learned or thought before.

One book in particular had a huge impact on my thinking – Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, a book nearly everyone who embarks on a New Age path owns. You don’t even buy it when you start on this quest – it’s issued to you.

Yogananda discusses many important metaphysical concepts, including the astral plane and parallel realities.

When I considered the ideas in this book, combined with Bob Dylan’s experience of “receiving” songs from a universal source, I needed to know more.

After stumbling into this paradigm, I began writing a few songs that felt entirely channeled. They came to me whole, with a feeling of peace and connectedness, well beyond my normal ability at that point in my music life.

While the Remembering Process arose as an organic way of writing music, it can be used for anything – art, writing, relationships, career opportunities. It’s a simple concept that can yield very powerful results, and my co-author Joe Vitale and I illuminate it in six steps: • Relax.

• Agree with the present moment.

• Play, trust, observe.

• Use touchstones.

• Leap into quantum remembering – the unified state.

• Collect the wisps.

Hey, Good Lookin’.

Joe and I used the process for creating his first album in record time. (Actually, five albums in two years, which is astonishing.) I used it to write this book. I began by writing letters, which I called “Remembering Letters.” Rather than sitting down and trying to write a book, I sat down and remembered the book. I wrote not only about the words in each chapter, but also the surrounding circumstances – how I felt while writing it, what scents I smelled and sounds I heard while writing, what reviewers said about it.

Once I began, I could feel the pull of “trying” to write, as well as the grace of “remembering” writing. I paused, breathed, and put the process to work.

I remember this very moment: At my recording studio, drinking from a SmartWater bottle. The book Time: A Traveler’s Guide to my left. Sheet music to Ray Charles’ version of Hey, Good Lookin’ on the floor. I distinctly remember this as a way station, a point in time, on my journey to the joyful, confident completion of this book.

to come out – I watched a funny YouTube video, just like I remembered I did, to get in the right mind-set to work more lightheartedly.

Not all the ideas we remember have to be deep and highfalutin’. They just have to be helpful, somewhere along the path.

You must remember this…

Another great part of the Remembering Process is that there’s no pressure involved to get it right. If you remember a happy holiday from your childhood, you may get some of the details mixed up – adding some relatives who weren’t there, combining two holidays together – but the overall feel is right.

It’s still your memory, and you don’t have to feel pressured to recall it exactly as it happened, moment for moment.

That’s a freeing part of the process.

You can allow a little misinterpretation, creative license, forgetfulness. If I try to write this perfectly, I feel stifled and scared, but if I remember the wonderful version already in time and space to the best of my ability, a flow begins.

This process turns work into play, try into do, and when into now.

Albert Einstein said, “Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.”

That’s what this process is all about – harnessing the power of your imagination.

Leap Between the Bridge and the

River, the wild 2006 novel by talk show host and comic Craig Ferguson, follows the parallel and intertwined lives of a raunchy televangelist, a pair of vagabond brothers, a beautiful French girl whose lovers keep dying, and a solidly middle-class Scottish lawyer who decides to live a little before he ends his own life – and those are just the main characters.

It is, of course, a comedy.

All these folks have a couple of things in common.

They all make a leap – maybe of faith, maybe of a lack of it – and they all become, in wildly different ways, sort of holy.

Free fall, out into nothin’.

Leaps will do that. Often as not, holiness happens between the point of departure and the point of arrival – between the bridge and the river. The devil may be in the details, but God is in the free-fall.

That’s not to discount the importance of where you land. Like Wyle E. Coyote, you could hit the bottom of the canyon in a little poof of dust after your Acme RocketPowered Roller Skates shoot you into space, where you hang for a moment – or you could hit a truckload of Acme Trampolines and bounce right back up (until the skates explode).

The cool leaps, though, aren’t the Butch and Sundance kind, where you jump off the cliff into the river because you have to – they’re the ones you take without a clear notion of where, and maybe why, you’re jumping. Those are your Quantum Leaps, the ones you take simply because it’s time – although time and its wingman, space, are decidedly different out there in Quantumville.

Physicists call a quantum leap an intermittent change at subatomic levels, when an electron jumps from one energy level to another. Call it that, call it magic, or just call it. It’ll come – but be ready. You may wind up spinning, Earth where the moon should be, no idea what that is in the water below you.

The Fool, Off The Hill.

Better yet, have some foolishness – it’s April. The Fool is the first card in the journey through the Tarot, and he’s stepping off into the abyss, not a care in the world.

His dog, not having thumbs to use a can opener to open the food, seems concerned. (A cat would just watch to see if he lands on his feet.)

With a nod to both April foolishness and Earth Day, here’s an environmental tidbit. April Fact or April Fool?

“Recycled” always means “better for the environment.”

April Fool!

Thought it was April Fact, huh?

Nope – which segues nicely into the periodic explanation of why this fine natural publication isn’t printed on recycled newsprint.

Most recycled paper pulp is shipped to China for processing in plants burning dirty, polluting brown coal, and then back to the U.S. – a big ol’ carbon footprint. Newsprint also has to be chemically de-inked to make paper stock.

Glossy, however, is actually a layer of clay baked over a layer of paper stock (less paper required) and buffed. Ink sits on top instead of soaking in (brighter colors, less ink) and a non-chemical water-jet process easily removes both clay and ink. Moot point in Austin, though. According to Ecology Action, glossy paper collected here is reused without de-inking, by companies that shred it to make insulation.

Armed with this, the decision was made to follow the lead of the Sierra Club and use glossy paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a no-nonsense German-based group that monitors all aspects of production. Not a perfect choice, maybe, but good enough for the oldest environmental group in the nation.

Oh, and soy-based ink, you ask? Nope. Soybeans were the first crop to be genetically modified (over ninety percent of U.S. supplies), so they could be sprayed with more toxic herbicides.

Because of corn speculation for ethanol (another joke), most U.S. soybean production has shifted to Central and South America – where rainforests are clear-cut to grow it.

THE POWER TO TRANSFORM In Turbulent Times

by Phyllis Light , Ph.D. Have you noticed how intense life seems to be these days? I’ve been poignantly aware of this since the spring of 2012. There seems to be constant change going on for most people, some of which is happening at the unconscious level, creating chaos in their lives that is both puzzling and disturbing.

Astrologically speaking, we’re undergoing an intense, three-year period of Pluto squared Uranus, from 2012 to 2015.

Deep and unrelenting change is upon us – whether we like it or not. There’s a battle going on between controlling Pluto and freedom-fighting Uranus. There’s no easy way to deal with this conflict, other than to rise above it and become something that you do not yet know.

Much like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, it’s hard to know who or what you will become after you go through the crash and burn phase – which is taking place for many people now. The higher version of you is yet to be seen. You may be getting glimpses along the way, but you’re continually being forged, like steel in the fire, and the deep metamorphosis taking place within you continues, out of your personal control, until the conclusion of this powerful transit.

The key, during these intense times, is to remain as centered as possible and flow with the shifts life brings. It may sound easier than it seems to be, but that’s the key to getting through this.

• Pluto makes us want to control, so surrendering to what is would be a great strategy.

• If something absolutely doesn’t work for you, it’s time to make a change.

• It’s important to stay connected to your truth, and to what your heart is telling you – then surrender to that.

In your face.

Just because times are intense doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do poorly. It means that your blocks to having

your life work well are pretty much up in your face. As a result, you have a tremendous opportunity to heal and transform your life.

When you go through life and your subconscious obstacles remain hidden, it’s harder to know what you need to do to move forward on your spiritual path. But when your blocks are up in your face, you’re forced, in a sense, to make new decisions in order to deal with them.

In other words, the planetary energies taking place now are giving you an opportunity (whether you consciously want it or not) to change your life and transform your experience of being who you are. Long term, it’s a good thing. We are all growing and evolving as human beings.

Short-term? Ouch! It can be tough when all those old negative thoughts and feelings you thought you had let go of so long ago return and demand attention. Sometimes, this makes you feel like you’re back at square one and haven’t really made any progress at all.

This, of course, isn’t true.

It’s just that those deep programs within you are rearing their ugly heads once again, so you can truly rise above them and create a new experience of yourself and your life.

Do your best not to buy into your negative thoughts and feelings. Notice them, keep breathing rather than holding your breath, do a clearing technique, get therapeutic help from a trusted professional, or simply don’t give in to what they’re telling you to do. There could be a desire to engage in selfsabotaging behaviors – overeating, drinking, doing drugs – so stay on top of it all by not running with whatever negativity you’re experiencing.

What you want to do is notice what you’re thinking or feeling, re-frame it in your mind – that is, look at it from a different perspective, and do your best not to take it too seriously.

Relationships can be challenging at this time, because we commonly project our fears and insecurities onto the people around us. If both people in a relationship are doing this, it’s a sure recipe for conflict and disaster.

In relationships, it’s important to acknowledge what’s going on with you, rather than point the finger at the other person. It’s common to make your partner the cause of your negativity, when it’s your projections onto that person that are the true culprit. If you finally learn this lesson – not to blame the people around you for what you’re experiencing within yourself – you will have graduated with major honors once this intense period has run its course.

You will get through this, and the you that comes out on the other end will be much more powerful, aware, and spiritually connected. That’s what this period is all about. We’re all getting a boost from above to transform ourselves in ways we’d never dreamed possible.

So whatever difficulty you are experiencing at this time, know that it’s just what you need to experience, in order to grow and evolve as rapidly as possible. The best advice is to trust the process, go with the flow as much as possible, and make new choices that reflect who you’d like to become, rather than who you have been.

GUM FENG SHUI Chainsaws, dervishes, and Joan Rivers’ eyebrows

Got a little clutter in your house? Ready to do some spring cleaning?

Great idea.

First, get a chainsaw – one of those big ‘uns, like in a horror movie. Start with a room that’s extra messy (say, the bedroom you meant to make an office that turned into a storeroom, years ago). Take the chainsaw, start a few feet back from an exterior wall, and start cutting.

Took care of part of it, huh? If problems crop up – weather, mosquitoes – just chop off more, or saw off another wall and stick it on.

Clutter’s still there, though, isn’t it?

Crank ‘er back up.

Not the best way to deal with a messy house – or messy gums. Chopping off and transplanting diseased gum tissue doesn’t work much better than Chainsaw Feng Shui. Keep it up, and you’ll lose so much tissue your gum line will be higher than Joan Rivers’ eyebrows.

You have to clean up the mess – and some pretty messy stuff can in creep under your gums. Spirochetes, actinomyces, strep, trichomonas, candida, leukocytes, parasites, meteorites (okay, kidding on that one), clock arms, gliding rods, and spinning rods – the whirling dervishes of microorganisms.

Seeing is believing. A microscope slide of plaque scraped from your teeth shows the beasties dancing around like a Bollywood musical. by Michael Abedin If you haven’t noticed, over a hundred folks move to Austin every day, each bringing two or three cars that they somehow manage to keep on the road at the same time.

(City officials have shrewdly determined there’s a problem.)

Rapid growth is good news if you’re a developer tossing up condo canyons, but not when a fifteen-minute drive to anywhere takes an hour. If “anywhere” is your home, business, or work, you don’t want seething traffic frustration walking straight into a physically or energetically cluttered environment.

Where, or where, could the answer be?

The ancient Chinese, of course.

HOW TO BE NICE AND LOVING

Without being a pushover

by Doreen Virtue Earth Angels are nice because they’re very sensitive to how energies affect other people. They treat others as they’d wish to be treated, very much living by the Golden Rule.

Earth Angels see the best in others and expect the best in return.

Oh, if only the world really worked that way!

The three-dimensional physical world is a product of the ego, so the ego prevails for the majority of people, who aren’t aware of the path of true happiness from living in the higher self.

Now, this doesn’t mean that Earth Angels need to lower their standards and try to fit into the lowest common denominator of rude or ego-based behavior. But it does require Earth Angels to be aware of ego energy when it shows up.

If you’ve been taken advantage of repeatedly for being a nice person, then please pay extra attention.

Ego energy is all about me and I. “What’s in it for me?”

“What can I get out of this?” That’s why self-centered people are called egocentric or egotistical.

Therefore it’s important to take some time when you’re with someone to be very aware of how your body feels in that person’s presence. Your body is one of the most accurate divination tools on this physical planet, a crystal that resonates with energy vibrations.

When you meet someone, rather than worrying, “Does she like me? Am I good enough?” and other such selfdoubting questions, instead listen to what your body says: • Do I feel drained of energy when I’m around this person?

• Does my stomach tighten with defensiveness, bracing myself against some danger?

• Do I feel myself backing away from this person or wanting to leave her presence?

• Is there a sense that I’m the only one giving in this relationship?

• Does it feel like the other person is all about taking?

• Does the other person joke or brag about how much she gets away with, or takes advantage of others?

• After being with this person, do I feel tired, depressed, or anxious?

Drainers, scanners, and takers.

When you encounter a person who’s ego-centered, you’ll feel a draining sensation in your body, because your energy is literally being drained. You’re also being scanned energetically by the egocentric person, who’s assessing what she can take from you.

What egocentric people want to take can vary. They may want simple things – a listening ear or kind words.

Most Earth Angels don’t feel taken advantage of for giving these things, unless it becomes a one-sided relationship where you’re the only one giving the compliments and doing the listening, and the other person never says anything nice to you, nor do they care enough to listen to you.

To find a person who isn’t egocentric, hold the intention of meeting other Earth Angels and givers – those who have been working to develop self-awareness, and have come to the realization that the path to true happiness is through balancing giving with receiving.

Relationships are synergistic. You can be as nice as an angel in heaven, but unless you’re with someone who honors and respects your niceness, you’ll tend to be taken advantage of by those who are egocentric.

If someone’s egocentric, don’t worry whether or not he or she likes you. Egocentric people are incapable of liking anyone, because their hearts are closed. They don’t even like themselves.

When you get a sense that someone’s a “taker,” pull back your energy and don’t try so hard. They’re not worth your time as your friend, and you’ll end up breaking up anyway when you get tired of being taken advantage of. You have a limited amount of time here on Earth. It’s best to spend it on someone who’ll appreciate being helped.

Is your Soul all here?

by Christina Allen Do you have a sense that a part of you is missing, buried, or just out of reach?

Perhaps you feel stuck at a certain age, and although your chronological age is forty-two, you often find yourself responding from the needs of a twelve-year-old.

Are you caught in a reoccurring pattern of violence and abuse, despite your best efforts to end it? If you have gone through a harrowing situation that your psyche cannot process, a part of you may very well be missing!

These are all signs of soul loss.

Soul loss happens when something occurs that is scary and too unbearable for a being to witness or go through.

It can happen at any age, but often it occurs in childhood, before we’ve developed the necessary skills for surviving on our own. It happens most during violent situations, accidents, and often after a period of chronic abuse.

A part of us just gets up and leaves before the trauma damages it. It survives, untouched, from then on – as a bundle of consciousness in shadow. The part that remains goes through the trauma, becoming imprinted, wounded, and derailed from our original destiny.

In the ancient shamanic traditions, returning a soul piece requires a journey into the belly of Mother Earth, where this shadow part of ourselves is being cared for. She holds our disowned pieces until we’re ready to reclaim them. These pieces are filled with the joy, creativity, wonder, and destinies we lost when that part of us seemed to die.

The good news is…

It didn’t die at all. It just chose to preserve itself by hiding.

The part of us that went through the harrowing experience usually decides that the world is an unsafe place, and designs strategies for navigating from that day forward.

If we had a male sexually abuse us when we were young, for example, we may have decided all men are unsafe, and need to be placated if we want any peace. This wounded part may develop boundary issues, becoming manipulative or promiscuous as a way of coping.

Alternatively, someone who went through a violent war may adapt an underlying belief that the enemy is coming, that there’s a bomb behind every corner, and with no safe place to hide they may turn to drugs to dampen their anxiety. Another person, abandoned by loved ones at an early age, may believe they are undesirable, unsupported, and therefore must do everything themselves. (Hello, driven workaholic!)

It’s no surprise that a soul piece will not come home to a person whose coping mechanisms overburden them, or put them in danger. Someone with a lack of clear boundaries or substance abuse issues is not a safe home for an innocent soul piece. We must therefore do the healing work, driving out the dysfunctional beliefs and behavior, before we can expect that part of us to stay. When the person clears their energy field of the imprints locking these wounds into their everyday reality, and addresses the resulting destructive behavior, the soul piece comes back home willingly.

Reuniting a soul piece with its original Lightbody gives us a profound sense of wholeness and completion. There’s no greater gift we can give ourselves than to fill that hole inside us with what has been missing. It puts us back on track with our original destinies, and in touch with the essence of our true self.

If it feels like a part of you is missing, it most probably is.

SKINNY DIPS and Healthy Ketchup Recipes reprised, by Nerissa Oden Everybody loves dips, for dunking chips, vegetables, sandwiches, even pizza. Many are dairy-based, a concern for persons with dairy allergies or sensitivities – and everyone who’s watching their weight.

Cheese, the most popular ingredient, is full of fat, and most vegetable dips are just dairy dips with vegetables added.

To avoid dairy, use dips based on beans, nuts, meats, or pure vegetables or fruits only.

Store-bought brands of traditional bean, nut, and guacamole dips, however, often contain unhealthy fats, sugars, even dairy. Homemade salsas and tomato-based purees come to mind, but tomatoes are a food sensitivity for many. Ignore dairy, beans, avocados, tomatoes – what’s left?

Plenty. You’re only limited by your imagination. To kickstart yours, use the three-ingredient concept.

A base, a flavor, an accent.

For your base, use steamed or raw vegetables, steamed chicken, turkey, or fish, lower carb beans, or soaked nuts and seeds. Add flavor or texture with other vegetables, fruits.

Accent with fresh or dehydrated spices.

Personal blenders like Magic Bullet and Nutribullet are fantastic for making homemade dips. To make your dip even skinnier, upgrade from deep-fried chips to fresh and dehydrated vegetables and fruits.

It’s really that simple. Here are a few combinations to get your mouth watering: • Sweet orange apple mint chicken, with cloves.

• Black bean, with toasted garlic and serrano pepper.

• Steamed onion and soaked cashews, with toasted pine nuts and cayenne pepper.

• Chickpeas with toasted red pepper, garlic, and cumin.

• Sunflower butter with garlic, ginger, and chili pepper.

Easy, healthy homemade ketchup.

Ketchup’s a long-time favorite condiment, but prepackaged brands contain corn syrups and “natural flavorings”.

Vinegar, found in every brand on the shelves, turns tomato paste into ketchup, but if you’re yeast-sensitive, too much vinegar can lead to yeast infections – use lemon juice instead.

BASIC KETCHUP RECIPE 1 can organic tomato paste (6 oz.)

3/4 cup water (6 oz.)

3 tablespoons white or apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice) ½ teaspoon salt Combine in small bowl, mix with whisk. Add more of any ingredient for personal taste. Optional flavors are cayenne pepper, jalapeno oil, onion powder, garlic powder, sugar, stevia. Use kitchen funnel to fill squeeze-bottle or glass bottle.

THE EGYPTIAN BLUE LOTUS Is made of Stardust (Part 1 of 2)

by Bruce P. Grether I’m seated in Full Lotus position on a Zen-style zafu cushion in the quiet of an immaculate yoga studio in the forest while a few birds sing outside. I’ve been driving across town two or three days a week in the early morning to do zazen sitting meditation with a friend. She arranged the sits, and we do so with minimal instruction and guidance – we simply seek to be mindfully present, not lost in thoughts and stories we tell ourselves in our minds.

One morning a few years back when I sat there silently, a series of brief statements simply appeared more or less fully formed in my mind. I happened to have my journal and a pen handy, so I opened my eyes and jotted down the series of phrases.

This arrival wasn’t a conscious process, and the set of aphorisms or sutras even came with a name, The 9 Realities of Stardust. The statements, from the first – I Am the Source – to the last – Everything is Alive – all relate to the fact that we’re composed of about ninety percent stardust, complex atoms forged in the hearts of ancient stars that blew up as they died.

Life is all there is.

These realities are quite radical in comparison with many New Age spiritual beliefs. They insist on continuity between atoms, humans, and the Universe as a whole, which leads to a kind of scientific animism – the insistence that matter and spirit are mysteriously One, in a literal non-duality.

At the same time, another revelation is that everything is not illusion – illusions are simply most of our beliefs about the nature of reality.

Life, however, is not a dream – it’s dreamlike.

All this connects directly with a lifelong love of Ancient Egypt, where there was no separation between the sacred and the secular. They viewed everything as sacred.

The Egyptians were not obsessed with death. In a sense they didn’t believe death existed, not as we imagine.

Life is all there is – and death is not what we think it is.

Is it a conscious or unconscious choice to withhold exercise from your body? Even if you arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t exactly taking a walk on the wild side, what life choices might be devaluing your most prized possession â&#x20AC;&#x201C; life?

Passivity in caretaking the body rarely leads to wellness â&#x20AC;&#x201C; but keeping the body healthy has its own complex variables.

What steps toward your own wellness are you willing to take?

Any physical exercise can become an active meditation, even walking. â&#x20AC;˘ A brisk walk is a great form of exercise, and better health and better state of mind can begin by turning your walks into walking meditations. â&#x20AC;˘ For added benefit, with each step you take, you can simply state (and believe), â&#x20AC;&#x153;I am well.â&#x20AC;? â&#x20AC;˘ If you like to make life a bit more complex, make a list of valuable experiences you want to have in your lifetime, and do a walking meditation for each. This will focus light and energy to help manifest these experiences in your life.

How many fish will you catch in a stagnant pond?

If you can reserve 30-45 minutes a day, five days a week, to move, you will enhance your life, spirit, and health. Outside of walking, you can do yoga, practice Tai Chi or Qi Gong, or take a jog â&#x20AC;&#x201C; all in meditation.

Life is highly prized, and the fight for wellness often begins at the threshold of a health crisis. For some, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s when a terminal illness creeps in, or a physical trauma occurs. For others, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s feeling a tug on a lifeline, seeing the quality of life diminish, or experiencing decreased physical ability.
