Our chaperone, Hope Davis, assisted me throughout the trip. • Thank you to Kris Mann and Helen Grubb for choosing CBI as the location for their wedding ceremony and reception on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Congregation B'nai Israel has not hosted a large private simcha in our Social Hall for a few years due to the pandemic, so it was a joy to be able to do so for Helen and Kris.
• Kim & Stuart Brody, and Christa & Brandon Criddle on the birth of their first grandchild, Emunah Mazal Rut. New aunt, Emmie is also thrilled to have a beautiful, healthy niece. Proud parents are Meira & Josh Brody. Great-grandparents are Gail & Lee Kwait and Gloria & Norman Brody.
The bridal party relaxed in the Library Lounge, the groom's party had a "Tish" in one of the classrooms, and the bedekin and ketubah signing took place in the Chapel. After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom and their wedding guests celebrated in the Social Hall. We look forward to hosting many more simchas in the future! 3
Congregational News Remembering Our Loved Ones
HONORS FOR SHABBAT MORNING SERVICES
For many of us, one of the most meaningful parts of our services during the High Holy Days is Yizkor on Yom Kippur. It is at that time when we turn our thoughts to our loved ones who have left this earth. We reflect upon their lives, as well as the lives of members of our congregation, and family and friends. In addition, we take the time to formally recognize the Martyrs of our people, especially the Six Million who were murdered during the Shoah, and those who gave their lives for Israel.
Being called to the bimah is a great way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or other occasion. If you are observing a yahrzeit and would like an aliyah, please let the office know by Thursday of that week by calling 419.517.8400. This insures your name is included in the weekly Torah Guide. If you are unable to contact the office, please find Hazzan Lichterman at services on Saturday mornings.
Each year, we print a Yizkor Book which contains the Yizkor Service, a list of the synagogue’s Memorial Plaques, and a memorial to the Six Million and Israeli victims. Not only is this book substantial and permanent, but those who wish may take it home for use during the year.
Memorial Plaques A memorial plaque is a wonderful way to remember your loved ones. Plaques are cast in bronze and placed in our sanctuary. If you would like to purchase a plaque please contact the office for an order form. Cost is $500. Plaques ordered by August 1, 2022 will be dedicated at the Yom Kippur Yizkor Service on September 25, 2022.
I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity, as a way of remembering those dearest to us, and at the same time helping our congregation. An order form is printed below. The response last year was wonderful! I hope that you will participate this year.

How to access CBI Live Stream Services
Thank you for your understanding in this challenging time.
On your Computer, Tablet or Cell Phone: Phone: • Go to the CBI website, cbitoledo.org. • At the top of the home page click on the "Live Stream" tab. • When the page opens, you will be connected to the CBI live stream service.
On your Television Television:: You can also access the live stream services through your television if you have a "smart" TV, Roku or streaming stick which gives you access to YouTube.
How to access CBI Zoom Programs & Services
• Click on the YouTube icon on your TV.
• Check your email for the Zoom link and password for CBI Zoom services.
• When YouTube opens, search for "Congregation B'nai Israel Sylvania, Ohio". Ohio".
• Click on the link in the body of the email.
• Be sure to click on the listing that has the photo with Jewish star (see photo above).
• If you have never used Zoom, you will be prompted to follow steps to download it on your computer.
• We recommend that you "subscribe" to the channel so you can easily locate the live stream for future services.
• After that is successful, click on the link provided in the email, type in the provided password and you will be connected to the Zoom service.
• We also highly recommend connecting to the live stream services on your TV as it is the most immersive and closest experience, short of being in the synagogue.

CBI Library Books to Read or Re-read In addition to our wonderful selection of fiction and non-fiction books, our CBI library has a small collection of DVD’s and books on tape for you to borrow. If interested, please contact Cathy Sperling at (419) 841-1927 to assist you in checking them out and to arrange pick up.
