Join in and celebrate the ‘Victorian Difference’ that drives industry, entrepreneurs and community to not only be different but make a difference through digital technology. Run annually around the national iAwards, the 2018 festival runs over two weeks from 24 August to 7 September. The Digital Innovation Festival - or DIF - is a platform that supports the growth of Victoria’s vibrant community of entrepreneurs, innovators, changemakers, thought leaders and rule breakers. Through a combination of technology utilisation and digital mindsets, the DIF fosters economic resilience for Victoria and champions the leaders of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Festival brings together and promotes a range of digital innovation and technology events across the State. We invite international and interstate visitors to discover digital Victoria and Melbourne, Australia’s top ‘tech city’ offering the infrastructure, business environment, talent pool and lifestyle.

The Digital Innovation Festival - or DIF - showcases and celebrates excellence across the Victorian digital and tech ecosystem.

Festival Goals The DIF is inclusive, whether you are a digital innovation novice or someone considered an expert in their field, it embraces a collaborative learning and contributory mindset across the entire community. The 2018 DIF event program seeks to engage and inspire all elements of the innovation ecosystem

These themes to allow you to navigate the program and make your own DIF experience. EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES POWERING INVESTMENT Emerging tech abounds with AI, blockchain, data analytics, cybersecurity, biotech, IoT and robotics. With the singularity in our sights it can be hard to keep up. Digital innovation disrupts old industries and powers new investment opportunities. There are many big questions to consider. What is on the horizon for VCs? What ethical frameworks and government structures do we need? Where will your business be in 2030? The DIF encourages collaboration to forge the future we want.

TOMORROWS WORKFORCE BUILDING DIGITAL SKILLS To meet tomorrows digital technology workforce Victoria’s must diversify and grow. Jobs of the futures will need people with ‘T-shaped’ skills - a combination of strong technical expertise and generalist business skills. Business productivity relies on accelerated technology adoption which demands a skilled workforce. As new jobs emerge everyone will need to build their digital skills to ride the wave of change and maximise opportunity.

DIGITAL CHANGE MAKERS DRIVING INCLUSION Socially minded entrepreneurs use digital tools to make society better. Creating unique solutions to address wicked problems like homelessness or domestic violence. They build community through open networks, run hackathons for humanity, develop games for change and platforms for social impact using big data for social insights. Victoria’s tech for good movement is active in driving digital social innovation and championing digital inclusion.

Cyber Debate DATE: FRIDAY 24 AUGUST VENUE: DOCKLANDS TICKETS: FREE “Australia has a cyber security skills shortage” This hotly contested topic will be debated by an affirmative and a negative expert team.
