I’m Diego Pereira I am currently cursing D7 for the architecture Program. I have always been an artistic person, since very little, I would draw for my family and sell my drawings. During high school I had a class that was kind of an introduction to architecture, and we had the opportunity to design a small house for ourselves and start using AutoCAD.
My Background I am originally from Caracas, Venezuela, however I lived in Monterrey Mexico for 3 years of my childhood. Currently live alone in Miami and my parents and sister live in Chile. Also, 3 of my 4 grandparents where from Spain so me and my family have that second nationality. Since little I was taken to the catholic church, however now, as a grown up I don’t really follow any religion.
Like I said, since I was very little, I liked art and drawing about anything but during high school when talking about the future of everyone in my class I was really confused on what I wanted to study in college. I ended up deciding with a very single formula, which classes did I enjoy doing homework?, technical drawing was the exact answer to that question.
Hobbies I would say my main hobby is playing soccer at least once a week, its something that always puts a smile on my face, however, here is a list of other activitties a enjoy almost as much: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Colors If im asked what my favorite color is, I will probably would say blue or red, but that’s the first thing that comes to mind because it is what I have said all my life. When I stop and clearly think about the color that probably takes more importance in my day to that life, it would be black. I just don’t like the color itself, but how it is so neutral that I can combine anything else with it, however, white has that same property, and I don’t like it as much. When talking about clothes I would say I use also a lot of gray, dark shades of blue, dark red (claret), etc. However, even if I like a lot this dark and “boring colors” I feel I enjoy almost as much the bright combinations of any vivid color. For example, my penny board is bright pink with bright green wheels. I have neon lights of every color at home, accessories such as hats that I use have multiple colors as well. As a conclusion I would say that for my art I enjoy working with vivid colors and transmitting what I want to show by using bright colors.

Red is part of the flag and represents all the blood spilled during the fights for independence.
Yellow is also part of the flag, and it represents the richness of the soil, as well as the sunlight and justice.
The most seen colors when celebrating something national or patriotic are the colors of the flag. With those bright and beautiful tones people are proud to wear them everywhere. You can see them in any type of apparel, and it was ones used it a cap, as a symbol of protest against the government and in favor of democracy and liberty.
Blue is also part of the flag, and it represents the sky and seas that surround the country
This shade of red in Spanish is called “Vinotinto” and it not only represents love, passion, class and elegance but it is also the color of Venezuela's soccer team.
Also from some years to now, the color “Vinotinto” has also represented Venezuela very well, and people now use it as a symbol to also represent your country. When you see someone for example in Miami with a sports shirt that is this color, it will most likely indicate that is a Venezuelan. However when talking about art and other extra activities we can see things created using a whole lot of bright colors.

Mexico is a country with a lot of celebrations, holidays and most importantly tradition. I would say one of the most important days for this people would be “ Dia de los muertos” and it clearly represents the colors and happiness this colors transmit to the people that not only wear them but the people that watch. It is the day after Halloween and it honors the dead, but instead of doing it in a sad and dark way, people are very happy, they dance, they wear super bright colors and share sometime with people of there neighborhoods outside. From my time living in this country, I recall the feeling of waiting for this holiday, because it brought so much to people that just a holiday. And this feeling and happiness is perfectly transmited by the variety of bright and beautiful colors used for eveything that day.
Rietveld Schröder House

Rietveld • Rietveld was born in Utrecht on 24 June 1888 as the son of a joiner. He left school at 11 to be apprenticed to his father and enrolled at night school before working as a draughtsman for C. J. Begeer, a jeweller in Utrecht, from 1906 to 1911. By the time he opened his own furniture workshop in 1917, Rietveld had taught himself drawing, painting and model-making. He afterwards set up in business as a cabinet-maker, to then built a unique house for the time, such as Rietveld Schroder House.
Rietveld Schröder House • The Rietveld Schröder House also known as the Schröder House in Utrecht was built in 1924 by Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld for Mrs. Truus SchröderSchräder and her three children.
Project Concept They commissioned the house to be designed preferably without walls. Both Rietveld and Schröder espoused progressive ideals that included "a fierce commitment to a new openness about relationships within their own families and to truth in their emotional lives. Bourgeois notions of respectability and propriety, with their emphasis on discipline, hierarchy, and containment would be eliminated through architectural design that countered each of these aspects in a conscious and systematic way.

Conclusion I believe this is a house that for its time, changed the game for future architects by including colors that not only stick out to the view at first glance but that they form part of the actual architectural experience. Like Rietveld's Red and Blue Chair, each component has its own form, position and color. Colors were chosen as to strengthen the plasticity of the facades; surfaces in white and shades of grey, black window and doorframes, and several linear elements in primary colors. There is little distinction between interior and exterior space. The rectilinear lines and planes flow from outside to inside, with the same color palette and surfaces.

Focal Point As you enter the store your eye is caught by this display. It welcomes you and gives you a preview of not only clothes like jackets shirts and pants but also a preview of the colors.
The display is very geometrical, and it goes with the overall display of the store however it has overlapping elements, which contrast from the rest of the store. However, since everything is so cube oriented and geometrical on the store, if you vary the height of some furniture, you get this kind of overlapping illusion aswell.
Hue This stores palette for Coach consists of navy and cool gray hues. The majority are gray and blue shades. This palette lets the brand express themselves through sensations. The white and light grey sourrondings let the majority of the shelves stand out and the gray and slightly reflective floor gives contrast.
Value In Hugo Boss the most evident contrast is between dark metals and bright stones. The values change based on flooring, and ceiling patterns.
Texture - Patterns Throughout the store there are no outstanding textures, however the floor does catch an eye, and it has light patterns that slightly reflect on it as well. It is a minimalistic design all around keeping it as plane as possible obviously by having exceptions, like for example some stone tables. Also the ceiling has some light reflections that create a soft pattern but that generate a sense of overlapping related to some shelves. In contrast of other stores there are no sitting spaces which kind of invites you for a short period of time and not necessarily become part of the space.

Open The main concept of my design is projections and how some spaces tend out to extend in form of furniture from one part to another part. For example, a dinning table that goes from the kitchen to the terrace in one same piece and serves both spaces. This going through a glass wall creates a sense of the wholes space projecting and not only the furniture, feeling as if everything was one big space. On top of that this elements that project contrast with one an other, for example the stone used for this table I mentioned earlier giving a bright and neutral feeling contrasting with the floor which gives a cold feeling. The impact of the materials like stone is a sense of simplicity, which when paired with minimalistic design, creates spaces that appear cold while remaining welcoming welcoming.
Dynamic As mentioned earlier this is almost a shared space, in both levels there is this condition of projection and I feel in my render not only because of the design but also because of the materials and colors this works successfully. This openness that we talked about also makes users want to explore the other side of the space creating dynamism and the cartoonish effect on renders helps for this.
Sketched This directly relates with the other words that describe my render. My sketches are simple, and quickly done, almost giving a simplicity and cold feeling just like my renders. Even though I have a lot of contrast between some colors in materials and areas. A texture is almost added with this effect and makes the viewr pay attention twice as much.

Summary + Color Pallette The Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites, located in Doral right infront of the Dolphin Mall Complex, works as a pair of two different hotels that share amenities such as the pool, restaurants, bars, etc. The are individual hotels combined in a singles structure that at the same time works a a single space for everyone. Its colors vary and its hues are various, however neutral hues are al around being the main and most distinctive hues.
Lines A set of Paintings located in a long corridor serve a main point of view of one of the main lobbies. The simple, modern and colorful imaginary are not only represented in this walls but in the spaces all around.
The hotels main restaurant serves as one of the main and most essential points to experiment line changes and vivid colors. We as costumers are guided by a curved corridor.
Shapes The majority of shapes that are not part of the actual architecture are very disorganized or not geometrical. Grabbing the attention because of the contraste this create. Other shapes catch peoples attention due to colors and dynamism created by water for example just like this geometrical water window with led lights.
Form This abundancy of neutral hues creates a flexible neutral color and environment that is welcoming for almost every space aesthetic. This neutrals serve as visual relief, for example when you come from the restaurant that is full of navy hues. When bright colors are presented, they stand out very easily.
Texture These hue pattern all around succeed by also incorporating textures that stand out. This are found not only in walls but also in columns, carpets and even ceilings.This give a chill, tropical and bright feeling and vibe. Texture is an important part of creating an inviting, comfortable, and warm interior design, and it is achieved by the architect and designer.
