I present how femininity copes with reality by filtering emotional experiences through artwork which focuses mainly on the feminine psyche.

Regina Davis was born in Mexico City, largely self taught she has devoted her life to art and has developed her skills by attending workshops at the Art League of Alexandria, The Art League of New York, The Grand Street Atelier and the New York Academy of Art along with apprenticeships with renowned artists. She merges realism, fantasy, and psychological depth in her intricate and delicate compositions. Regina Davis paintings have been exhibited in Museums in Mexico City as well as various Art Galleries in Mexico and in the US. She currently lives and works in Fort Worth, Texas.
#community I am a self-taught artist so I’ve never had any type of guidance. Since I joined, my artwork has been reaching the right type of audience through Artsy and I am receiving a lot of guidance through the zoom meetings, from social media, to marketing and pricing to say the least. It makes me feel great to be part of a community of artists, and that we are all learning together and motivating each other to be the best artist we can be.
#process Most of my work comes as a translation of my own emotional journey. Recently, becoming a mother has given everything a new perspective in many surprising ways, it has given me such profoundly intense emotions both beautiful and terrifying that it is difficult to set into words. Thus, I like to meditate and let myself explore these emotions and set them into images that will later become the artwork. Sometimes I also add to the inspiration by readings on psychology, alchemy or philosophy if I feel like it will enrich the whole meaning of the painting.

My aim is to speak directly to women and create a connection. Women being complete emotional beings, more often than not I can see that we tend to isolate ourselves within the overwhelming sentiments we face everyday. I want to create the connection and let them know that it is ok. That they are not alone, that it is ok to have deep, strong emotions and that it is ok to give us permission to feel them entirely and intensively so that we may acknowledge them and act over them in a beautiful and graceful manner.

Gosh... I have so many! But I will limit myself to mention one living and one dead. I love Dino Vals for how talented he is and how his paintings have such mystery which can be solved if paid enough attention. He is a master in symbolisms and he places the elements in his perfect compositions so intricately so they work as clues to solve the narrative in his artwork. Not to mention he is just amazing with his brushstroke and aesthetics. I could look and study a Dino Vals for years. And also, of course, John Singer Sargeant.. what a way to paint! To find that passion and freedom in the brush stroke and communicate so much at the same time. If only he would be alive to teach us, right? SHOWS
