Diaryo has learned from International Air Transport Association (IATA) report released the other day that it will take approximately 8,000 jumbo jet to transport Covid-19 vaccines around the world. Given the world’s population of roughly 7.8 Billion the challenge is mind boggling. “Delivering billions of doses of vaccine to the entire world efficiently will involve hugely complex logistical and programmatic obstacles all the way along the supply chain. We look forward to working together with government, vaccine manu-

facturers and logistical partners to ensure an efficient global roll-out of a safe and affordable COVID-19 vaccine,� said Dr Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Researchers from Huazhong Agricultural University published last week in the journal Emerging Microbes & Infections a study on the contractibility of the virus to cats. Serum samples were taken from 102 cats in Wuhan, China

following the Pandemic.

According to the study press released, “The three cats with the highest levels of antibodies were all owned by patients who had been diagnosed with COVID-19,�

The study also indicated that neither evidence of cat-to-human transmission of the virus nor human-to-cat transmission was evident. However, researchers indicated that caution should be observed with pets around the house.

It added, “Some preventive measures should be implemented to maintain a suitable distance between COVID-19 patients and companion animals such as cats and dogs, and hygiene and quarantine measures should also be established for those high-risk animals.�

The disparaging impact of Covid-19 in the world is unprecedented since the flu pandemic in 1918.

Months after, still the medical field has not completely explained nor defined the exact nature of the virus. Irreparable damage to society is piling up. The daily briefing and newscasting about the pandemic casted a bad impression on infected people. Others regarded them as pariah.

The virus spared no country in terms of its impact.

Even the most economi-

cally stable countries are at the brink of economic collapse. Unemployment skyrocketed. Social cohesion threatened. Even family connections severed.

Social and community connections affected.

So much agony that seemed no positive things could be attributed to this worldwide curse. However, just like the proverbial saying – there are two sides of everything – negative and positive.

For over six months now negative aspect of the virus dominated the world. In Canada, though, the pandemic unearthed several questionable practices in the government.

For one, the WE Charity.

After unrelentless media prodding and exposure resignation of one of top government minsters ensued. The parliament prorogued. Investigations cancelled. In salient way the virus helped exposed a shameful anomaly.

Another positive was the sure consequence in the future of unrestraint government spending. In total, hundred of billions dolled out to various sectors. This trend will not only put the next generation of Canadians’ future in economic peril. The long-term and compounding negative result of Covid, plus the suffocating impact of economic downturn are recipes of

generational despair.

The race to produce the much-needed vaccine is testament to man’s high regard for life.

Lastly, interestingly one positive aspect of the pandemic is the inherent pressure to individuals to get back to the basic and importance of self reliance, responsibility, and accountability. Too much reliance on the government will undermine society’s freedom and rights to determine what is best for them. The responsibility of government is to provide, protect and produce an environment where people can freely improve and advance equitably.

Covid-19 pushes mankind

to rethink, re-evaluate and reconfigure the system that put us to complacency, privilege, and mendicancy. The virus taught humanity the value of humility. Advances in science, technology and medical fields are still below par in terms of addressing these nano invaders. No amount of social justice issues and or protest could save humanity from this curse.

A proper, balanced, and healthy mindset, personal responsibility and collective understanding and effort (backed up by science and technology) to combat this menace are the steps to the right direction.

Cats contracting Covid-19?

Rate is higher than thought before: Study Sept 14, 2020 DA/Calgary.

The awards are part of government’s commit-

ment to recognize the contributions of Alberta’s volunteers and are handed out annually on or around International Volunteer Day. This year, recipients will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on Dec. 4. Since the inception of the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards in 2000, 127 volunteers from across the province have been honoured.

Albertans are encouraged to submit nominations online. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15.

Volunteers are the foundation for many community organizations providing recreational, social, and cultural programs. Alberta has more than 26,400 non-profit organizations and, each year, more than 1.6 million Albertans provide more than 262 million volunteer hours to support the non-profit and voluntary sector at a value of $5.6 billion.

Will the owner of $900K please stand up?

Alberta’s ‘shelter for abandoned money’ – officially known as the Unclaimed Property Registry – wants Albertans to search for their lost money.

More than 250,000 Albertans could find forgotten funds, which are currently resting in a pot worth about $103 million. The total includes almost $900,000 in uncashed dividends belonging to an individual Albertan. It is the highest individual value ever held in the registry.

How to search the registry • Visit MissingMoney. com to see if any unclaimed property is registered in your name. You can search for free, across multiple jurisdictions with unclaimed property programs.

• If unclaimed property appears under your name, follow the prompts to submit an online claim form and provide supporting documents such as proof of identity and ownership.

What is waiting to be claimed?

Financial assets currently held in the registry include uncashed cheques for government issued benefits, employment income, scholarships, utility refunds or insurance proceeds, and other funds such as investment-related income or interest payments.

Alberta’s Unclaimed Property Registry helps individuals and corporations find their lost money. The registry was established in 2008 by the Unclaimed Personal Property and Vested Property Act. The legislation requires entities, such as business es, government, utility corporations, insurance companies and universities, to try locating rightful owners, and, if unsuccessful, to report the unclaimed property to the registry.

Depending on the type, property must be dormant for one to 15 years before it can be declared abandoned and eligible for transfer to the Unclaimed Property Registry. Owners have 10 years to claim

their property from the registry. After this time, the money goes to government’s general revenue.

Quick facts • The Unclaimed Property Registry can hold both tangible (e.g., jewelry, art) and intangible (e.g., cheques) items.

To date, the registry has only received intangible property.

• For fiscal year 201920, about $840,000 was returned to 470 rightful owners.

• Since 2008, the registry has returned more than $8 million to about 5,500 claimants.

• The highest value claimed from the registry is $368,124. It was paid in 2019 to a corporation for uncashed government and insurance cheques.

• The second highest claim was paid to an individual in 2014 for uncashed dividends valued at $144,029.

Dear Madame KC, Nauubusan nako ng taong makakausap tungkol sa problem ko. I don’t know what to do anymore.

I am unhappily married for almost 4 years now with one son. I met my husband nun andun pa kami sa Pinas.

I was broken hearted from a 6yr relationship, was very lonely and I wanted a companion. Pinsan s’ya ng friend ko and that time s’ya ang parati kong kasama.

He was not really my type pero sa sobrang lungkot ko and I was angry with my ex-bf, binigyan ko na chance na maging kami.

After 3months of dating, I got pregnant. I was shocked, diko alam gagawin ko. Natakot ako sa kahihiyan, sa sasabihin ng ibang tao, pressure from my family, kaya I let them decide for me.

Nagdasal nalang ako na sana maging ok rin ang lahat. Ang gusto ko lang matapos na ang problema ko at kasal ang solution

Mahirap manimbang, pero in the end lagi mo isipin kung ano ang makakabuti sa anak mo. Lagi din magdasal at magtiwala sa Panginoon.

“Sometimes problems don’t require a solution to solve them; instead they require maturity to outgrow them”

This is the sixth beatitude in Matthew 5:8, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. The word blessed is commonly translated as happy. The fact is happiness is what most people are looking for. The heart here does not mean that fleshy body organ pulsating inside our chest. Rather, it symbolizes our entire personality covering our mind, value system, will/choices, attitude, feelings, conscience, moral standard, lifestyle, aspirations, and beliefs.

When we pray to invite God into our hearts, we are inviting Him to occupy our entire lives, not just a portion of it.

So, when we think of a pure heart, it means a purity that should encompass our entire life. It is not pure in words, but not in deeds. You may have heard one description of a person: A saint in church, an angel in the streets, and a monster at home.

Genuine purity is not relative, but it is true inwardly and outwardly, always and in all places.

People differ in their views of purity. What is pure to one person may not be to another. In a family, with the help of a grown-up son, a father killed his three daughters in a lone bridge and threw their bodies into the river for having boyfriends.

This family comes from a culture where marriage is arranged by parents and elders. So, it is a dishonor to the family for the daughters to have boyfriends.

Therefore, it is not a crime for the father and his son to kill the daughters because they are misbehaving. They call this honor killing and is allowed. Christians have their own distinct reference when comes to purity. It is the will of God as recorded in the Bible.

Jesus said, you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you (Jn. 15:3). If we give serious attention to the teachings of Jesus, they will keep us from splashing into the mire of sin. Psalm 119:105 says, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. The Psalmist tells us that with a sincere consideration of God’s word we shall not get lost in a world much darkened

with sin.

What should we do to cleanse the heart? I want to mention three factors here to answer the question. First is knowing the cleanser of our heart. From the two verses above God’s words are the cleanser of the heart.

God’s words tell us clearly what to do and not to do to be pure in heart. These include God’s words in the OT like the Ten Commandments, and Jesus’ teachings in the NT. We must study these very intently that as they saturate our mind, the mind will in turn influence the heart.

This is what Jeremiah meant when he quoted God saying, I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts (Jer. 31:33). Failure to do this could result in a Christianity that is powerless to purify us. (To be continued).

Prayer: Our Father God, it is your will and delight that we may live in holiness and purity like you live. May your Holy Spirit dwell in us to impart on us your holiness and purity. In the name of Jesus who is the embodiment of your purity we pray.

10 Ways To Fix Your Car Without Paying For It

1. Change a lightbulb Seems odd at first glance, but we know many guys who brought their cars in for service just because a headlight burned out.

With modern sealed-beam headlights boasting more radical shapes ,which are surrounded by body panels sculpted in even more radical shapes .The art of changing a light bulb has become a bit more complicated. And on many modern cars, replacing a headlight or corner light will require removal of the bumper and headlight assembly in order to access the bulbs.

Thankfully, most bumpers and headlamps can be removed with a simple socket set. It may take an extra 30 minutes to do the procedure, and you may need a buddy to help you realign the bumper when you’re all done, but those minor inconveniences sure beat having to tell the guys at work that you had to take your car to the shop just to get a bulb changed.

2. Replace the air filter As you can guess, a dirty air filter doesn’t allow an engine to get as much cool, clean air as a fresh filter, which in turn can really hurt an engine’s overall performance.

Though it may seem intimidating to pop open the hood to change an engine part. Most modern engine nowadays has a air filter box with two clips or four at the most. Remove the old and replace with new, and then reverse the steps to finish. Performing this five-minute job yourself will not only save you labor costs, the improved fuel economy a fresh air filter brings will save you money at the pump, too.

3. Replace windshield wiper blades We admit that this seems like a “dumb” entry at first glance, but countless Repair shops will try to up-sale oil change customers into getting a set

of new wiper blades for their car. Workers will make these customers feel like they’re getting a deal by mentioning that installation is “free” while conveniently neglecting to mention that the same OEM-replacement blade can be found at a car parts shop for $2 to $3 less. Since replacing a windshield wiper blade is simply a matter of undoing, and then redoing, a simple hook, this definitely qualifies as a car repair you shouldn’t pay for.

4. Replace a fuse A car’s electric system and the accessories attached to it -- including functioning headlights, gauges, defrosters, cruise control, and turn signals -- can go bad after time. Luckily for all of us, repairing these electric problems does not require a costly diagnostic service. Often, the culprit behind these electric gremlins is nothing more than a blown fuse.

Replacing a fuse is cheap and easy. You can find fuse guide at your owners manual and it will tell you which efuses for all accessories. Most fuse - box have a puller and extra fuse that you can use.

5. Replace spark plugs/ wires Spark plugs ignite the fuel that make engines run, and old or fouled spark plugs can seriously degrade a vehicle’s performance. Solution, you need a tune up.Luckily, replacing a spark plug is a very simple repair you shouldn’t pay for. With the proper tool, It’s really a matter of removing a wire or coil, taking out the old fouled plug and screwing a fresh one in. On older cars, changing only one spark plug at a time to ensure that the spark plugs are reattached in the correct order -- getting your wires in the wrong order can lead to a whole other set of problems.

Modern manufacturing techniques have made spark plug replacement easier. Many plugs now come pre-gapped. Making it easier to ensure that doit-yourselfers can do the

job right.

6. Plug a tire As wheels and tires grow in size, so does the cost of replacing them.

Something as small as a nail can seem like a huge problem when it punctures the tread of a $300 tire. Thankfully, provided that there is no damage to the sidewall, this puncture can be fixed easily and cheaply. Do-it-yourself tire plug kits come with everything you’ll need to fix a punctured tire, and most can be had for about less than ten bucks.

And as cheap as it can be to fix a punctured tire yourself, it may be cheaper to have a pro do it. In the name of building and maintaining customer loyalty, many major repair or tire shops will perform these fixes free of charge ,even if you bought your tires elsewhere.

7. Change your brake pads Changing a car’s brake pads can be a more involved and lengthy process compared to some of the other fixes listed here, but it’s still simple to do, and every guy should know how to change the pads for a disc brake.

To do the job properly, proper tools are needed, but the bulk of the work involved is nothing more than loosening and then retightening a few bolts.

If the car doesn’t shudder or pull to the side while braking, there’s no reason why you should not replace your pads yourself.

However, if your brake issues extend beyond a squeaking noise, perhaps it would be better to consult a mechanic.

8. Replace your muffler This entry is geared more toward enthusiasts, but really, replacing a muffler is a car repair you shouldn’t pay for regardless of your skill level. Many aftermarket manufacturers build direct-replacement muffler for many popular vehicles. No cutting or welding is necessary to install one of these systems.

If you can unscrew a cou-

ple of easily accessed bolts and remove a hanger, you have the skills needed to add some volume and power to your ride.

9. Change your oil Just as with changing a tire, must have proper tools.But performing an oil change is really quite simple. Just three things -the oil filler cap, oil filter and drain plug -- need to be unscrewed (and subsequently screwed back on) in order to successfully change car oil. And if you can pour juice into a glass all by yourself, you can refill the car’s oil as well.

The only downside to doing an oil change at home is disposing of the old oil.

Don’t dump it down the drain; take it to a specialty shop such as an auto parts store to have it recycled.

10. Change your car battery Messing around with electricity can be intimidating, and not following the proper procedures for changing a car battery can cause major damage or

even injury. However, provided you can remember to perform the necessary steps in the proper order, this is actually a car repair you shouldn’t pay for. Just remove the negative terminal, then the positive.

Undo any battery tiedowns and then yank the battery. Use a wire brush

to knock off any residue from the terminals, and then install the new battery by reversing the steps as mentioned. Just be sure not to throw that old battery away.

Take it to an auto shop or recycling centre that specializes in the disposal of old batteries.
