‘Diario textil’ es un proyecto textil participativo que se lleva a cabo en la Casa Latinoamericana con el fin de explorar las narrativas migrantes de la diáspora latina a través de materiales reutilizados tejidos en el telar de falda. El objetivo es brindar un espacio seguro donde compartir experiencias mientras se crean piezas textiles colectivas de calidad y se mejoran las habilidades manuales. El taller es gratuito y abierto a todos, con especial enfoque en personas que no tienen experiencia en artes y están dispuestas a la experimentación.
‘Textile diary’ is a participatory textile project that takes place at the Latin American House in order to explore migrant narratives from the latinx diaspora through woven repurposed materials on the lap loom.
The aim is to provide a safe space where to share experiences while creating quality collective textile pieces and improving manual skills. The workshop is free and open to all, with special focus on people that have no experience in the arts and are open to experimentation.
Durante seis meses el taller fue parte de los ‘Jueves en Comunidad’ de la Latin American House y tuvo una participación activa de veinte personas. Cada participante elegía uno de los telares disponibles, se le brindaba una introducción breve de la técnica de tejido y se lo invitaba a que experimente con los materiales, que elija con libertad según su gusto y que pruebe alternativas hasta encontrar su propia manera de trabajar. A medida que transcurría el tiempo, cada uno iba perfeccionando su técnica y eligiendo las herramientas que más cómodas se sentían a la hora de armar sus piezas.

During six months, the workshop was part of The Latin American House ‘Thursdays in Community’ and had the active participation of twenty people. Each participant chose one of the available looms, was taught with a brief introduction to the weaving technique and was invited to experiment with the materials, to choose freely according to their taste and to try alternatives until they found their own way of working. As time went by, each one improved their technique and selected the tools that they felt most comfortable with when putting together their pieces.

Lucía Scarselletta es artista argentina con base en Londres que explora narrativas alrededor del mundo textil.
Estudió Diseño de Indumentaria en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU-UBA), Vestuario y Caracterización en el Centro Cultural San Martín (CCGSM) y en el Instituto del Teatro Colón en Argentina. Aprendió diferentes técnicas textiles artesanales y trabajó en la industria audiovisual por una década antes de su práctica en las artes visuales. -
Lucía Scarselletta argentine artist based in London that explores narratives around the textile world.
She studied Fashion Design at the Buenos Aires University (UBA), Costume Design and Characterisation at the San Martín Cultural Center (CCGSM) and at the Colón Theatre Institute in Argentina. She learnt different traditional textile techniques and worked in the audiovisual industry for a decade before her visual arts practice.
