Heritage Intervention
Barichara, Colombia
KUTIMO Architecture Team
Structural reinforcement project with metallic structure for extension, architectural and interior redesign for a house located in a heritage urban area. Rental house with two bedrooms (150m2) in the patrimonial village of Barichara, Colombia.
Casa M-A reinterprets ancestral techniques and uses local materials and workmanship from a contemporary perspective, adapted to the new tourist needs of the area.
Tapia pisada (rammed earth) with reinforced concrete structure and metal profiles, clay tile roof, on a round wood structure, mezzanine plate with round wood joists, use of floor planks, tiles and bricks made locally and handmade.

Architectural design project for a country house. Located between Guane and Barichara, Santander.
The central idea of “Casa Guane” was to develop an open spatial program, and as related as possible to the exterior; connecting the old with the new through patios and terraces, making the most of the visuals.
The property already had a small building for the use of services which we wanted to take advantage of and take as a starting point. We created two different areas (private and services) physically united by a roof and visually united by a patio/dining room. Both areas are articulated in a semi-open central space that is the heart of the project.

The colour palette was selected with the aim of respecting the nature of the materials used in ancestral and mixed construction techniques, leaving their natural finish visible to the eye. We wanted to exalt the semi-open aspect of the house, seeking to highlight the vegetation and the surrounding view.

La Bonita image centre wanted to renovate its shop, there were spaces that they had planned that were not being used and others that hardly worked with each other.
We mainly focused on the functionality of the place, we redistributed and re-stipulated the work areas, a new lighting design, as well as the projection of a more efficient and personalised furniture with the same aesthetic language.

Empapelarte is a local business in the city known for its stationery products. For this project we advised on its new business proposal, which now expands its spaces for co-working and brunch.
The design focused on the distribution and connection of the stationery, co-working and brunch environments.
We played on the brand identity and explored the interior design to propose unique, memorable and flexible spaces for users of all ages.
