HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE BOARD The Board of Directors’ primary responsibility is to focus on governance, financial oversight, and strategic planning.

On Track to Achieve our FY2026 Financial and Operational Goals October 31 marks the end of our fiscal year 2026, and I’m pleased to report that the Club is on track to achieve the financial and operational goals we set this year:

∙ Drive the operating ledger to break even

all claims related to alleged wage and hour violations against the Club. 870 current and former employees have been notified, and the Club has funded the settlement. Our management team has instituted appropriate protocols and software tools to ensure full compliance with all State and Federal employment laws. The Club now considers this matter closed.

∙ Maintain loan covenants for our golf course

Pause on New Centurion Memberships

∙ Develop a 20-year capital plan

With our focus to put the Club on solid financial footing, The Board has paused granting additional Centurion memberships. 39/436 Proprietary Golf Members have “frozen operating dues” today as Centurions. All existing Centurion member privileges as defined in the membership agreement are grandfathered.

and facilities loans

∙ Establish wait list for Regular Proprietary membership (4 as of end of Sept)

This is a major accomplishment given the challenges over the past few years. Hats off to our talented Management Team! You can expect to receive an annual financial report along with a proposed budget for FY2027 in the coming weeks.

Bylaw Revision Approved The proposed revision to our Club Bylaws has been approved. 308 Regular Proprietary members participated in the vote, with a majority approving the proposal. The Bylaws act as our constitution, outlining the club's fundamental principles, organizational structure, decision-making processes, and member rights & responsibilities. Revisions are necessary from time to time to align with our current practices and California state law. The new Bylaws are posted on the website under My Club > Club Documents and take effect immediately.

PAGA Settlement Complete

Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 15 All members are invited and encouraged to attend our Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 15, at 4:30pm. The agenda includes:

∙ Election of two new Directors

∙ "State of the Club" report: FY2026 financial performance and key accomplishments

∙ FY2027 budget and dues (to be approved by Regular Proprietary members)

∙ 2026 Frank Leach Award recipient—a member whose unselfish contributions have made Diablo Country Club a better place for all.

Chefs Andy & Zack are preparing a special "Tokyo Night" buffet in the Red Horse following the meeting. Please RSVP via our Club Calendar.

The California Superior Court approved the final settlement of the PAGA lawsuit, resolving 3

FROM THE

GENERAL MANAGER As we close out the summer season and turn our clocks back, fall is upon us. The days may be shorter, but there is still plenty to enjoy around the Club.

Leadership, Staff, and Volunteers Before turning to upcoming activities and events, I want to thank our Board of Directors for its leadership and stewardship throughout the past fiscal year. In other Club communications, Board President Dana Pingatore will highlight the accomplishments of the Board, management, and the Club. Treasurer Dale Walsh and CFO Rachelle Parsons will also provide the year-end financial report and information about the 2027 budget and dues. This year’s Board was an outstanding group, with every director contributing to the Club’s governance and leadership. Private clubs thrive through shared effort, and Diablo is fortunate to have many member volunteers serving in a variety of capacities. I also want to thank the Club staff, who have worked tirelessly to serve our members and improve the experience we provide. As I continue learning about the Club, our new managers and team members are learning how to work together while embracing the culture and character of the Diablo way. It remains a work in progress, but we are making steady progress. I hope members have noticed these details and improvements. It is a journey, and we are moving forward together.

∙ Wine tasting ∙ Thanksgiving holiday events ∙ Tennis Play and Fall Fit Fest Along with these activities, members can continue to enjoy daily food and beverage service. We look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Tipping Policy POLICY: Diablo’s support staff strive to provide exceptional service to all members, their families, and guests. Members may, at their discretion, tip a staff member for outstanding service; however, tipping is not expected from members or guests. HOW IT WORKS: Every food and beverage receipt includes an automatic service charge. A separate line allows members to add an optional gratuity when a server has provided outstanding service. Any amount entered on that line goes directly to the server. The automatic service charge helps support the Club’s above-average hourly pay for its service teams. If you would like further clarification, please speak with me directly. Finally, please continue to respect the Club’s rules and regulations, as well as one another and our staff. Let’s enjoy the upcoming holidays with family and friends. I look forward to seeing you around the Club!

Upcoming Activities and Events There is plenty to look forward to around the Club, including:

∙ Golf Club Championships ∙ Concert benefiting Oakland Lacrosse ∙ Bocce Championships ∙ The Smith Golf Tournament

FROM THE

EXECUTIVE CHEF October Culinary Update As summer fades into fall, I want to thank all of our members who joined us throughout the season at Red Horse and at our many social events. It is hard to believe how quickly summer passed here at Diablo. From the culinary side, there were so many memorable moments, including the Far Niente Wine Dinner, Couples Invitational, and Summer Campout. One of my personal highlights as Executive Chef has been seeing so many families and friends gathering at Red Horse for dinners, celebrations, and special occasions. We are truly grateful that you continue to choose Diablo as the place to celebrate those important moments.

Fall in the Kitchen With fall arriving, we can begin moving toward some of the richer, more comforting flavors of the season. Our menus will feature plenty of squash, gourds, root vegetables, apples, and pears, along with the last of the season's beautiful heirloom tomatoes. This year, keep an eye out for some unique heirloom apple varieties, including Winter Banana and Black Oxford, each with its own distinctive flavor and character. Braised dishes will also become a larger part of our menus as the weather cools. Beef Short Rib and Duck Confit are a couple of dishes I am especially excited about, along with seasonal preparations that highlight the best ingredients available throughout fall.

Nightly Specials & New Experiences The response to our nightly specials has been fantastic. These specials give the culinary team an opportunity to experiment with different cuisines, 12

daily market finds, hyper-seasonal ingredients, and new cooking techniques while keeping the dining experience fresh for our members. Beginning in October, we will also be introducing more themed dining experiences and experimenting with an Omakase-style dinner, giving our chefs an opportunity to create a more intimate, chef-driven menu based on the best products available that day.

From the Pastry Kitchen Pastry Chef Katia continues to raise the bar with every event and every new menu. The creativity and pace coming from the pastry department have been incredible. With berry season coming to an end, Katia is turning her attention toward pomegranates, persimmons, apples, and pears. You will see these ingredients incorporated into upcoming desserts, along with some more adventurous ice cream flavors while she continues refining and elevating the classics our members enjoy. From everyone in the Culinary Department, thank you again for your continued support and enthusiasm. We are looking forward to a wonderful fall and winter season filled with great food, memorable events, and many more opportunities to gather around the table. See you at the Club!

GOLF PROFESSIONAL Fall is in the air! That means a couple of things, football is back, and the golf course is in fantastic shape! And of course, who doesn’t love playing golf in a sweater (although its 90 degrees as I write this). It is a fantastic time to play golf and work on your game and we are here to help. September is Diablo Invitational season, and we have had a couple of spectacular events for both the men and women. The Gold Putter started us off Labor Day weekend, with 224 players spending four days on property, with awesome competition and even better camaraderie. Again this year, the Gold Putter horserace determined the winner of the whole event, and it came down to almost darkness between the teams of Rob Price and his guest Tim Marchi, Ken Hsiao and his guest Goran Kalas, and Ed Holmquist and his guest John Perchak. There was some great golf, but it is hard to beat birdie on 16, birdie on 17, and making a 6 foot par putt on 18, which were all accomplished by the winning team of Price and Marchi. Well done gentlemen! We also had the Club Championships in September. Ryan Collins finished off the second round of the finals with some great holes to win his 8TH Men’s Club Championship of his career over 2024 winner Jack Moeller. Dr. Ken Hsiao won the Senior division over last year’s champion Randy Ackerman and Rick Steffen’s played great to win the Super Senior Championship over Steve Cadet. Great Playing. Following the Gold Putter, we held the Women’s Classic, with 92 women coming out to enjoy the beautiful weather and golf course. Another exciting horserace came down to the final shots on 18, with the team of Deb Stephens, Cody Ball, Carol Santa Maria, and Caroline Jones pulling out the win with a par on the final hole. They were not done with the horserace, they took home the overall low net trophy as well! Congratulations! 16

How about some tidbits of instruction to go with the Fall golf season! As I watched the end of the PGA Tour season and the President’s Cup winning team from the United States, I heard a couple of things that caught my attention. The first was the announcer pointing out that Scottie Scheffler checked his grip before every shot he hit this year. This is the number one player in the world, who had one of the greatest PGA Tour seasons ever, and he still checks his grip before every shot! How many times have you every checked your grip to make sure it is correct? Second, how hard golf really is, even for those on TV. How many shots did I see go into the water? Into a bunker? Short putts missed? These are the best players in the world and this still happens. Don’t get down on yourself, golf is hard!

∙ Did you know that a player who is a 15

handicap has an 11% chance of hitting a green in regulation?

∙ Did you know that a player who averages

in the 80’s has a 9% chance of making two pars in a row?

∙ Did you know that a player who averages in the 100’s has a 7% chance of making a par?

Play smart out there and understand that mistakes happen. Minimize the mistakes! Golf is hard! Have fun, play well, play fast

UPDATE

FROM THE AGRONOMY TEAM

Following a busy late-summer tournament schedule that included the DWGG Invitational and Gold Putter, the golf course enters fall in strong overall condition. Bentgrass greens remain healthy, firm, and consistent, while Bermudagrass tees and fairways have responded extremely well to summer aeration, vertical mowing, sand topdressing, fertility, and moisture management. With the major summer cultural practices complete, our attention is now shifting toward preparing the golf course for cooler temperatures and the seasonal transition ahead

Fall Greens Aeration – October 20 to 22 This fall’s greens aeration will be less aggressive than the program completed this spring. Spring aeration utilized 5/8 inch hollow tines, while this fall we will reduce the tine size to 3/8 inch. This decision is intentional and based on measurable improvements identified through our regular ISTRC soil testing. Testing has shown a significant reduction in organic matter, improved water infiltration, reduced compaction, and proper ratios of air and water porosity. These measurements now fall within industry-recommended parameters—a significant improvement from March 2025, when nearly every measurement evaluated was outside recommended ranges. This progress is the result of consistent venting, sand topdressing, aeration, and careful moisture and nutritional management. Together, these practices have created a healthier, more structurally sound rootzone and an improved growing environment for our bentgrass greens. Because soil conditions have improved, we can reduce the aggressiveness of fall aeration while still accomplishing our agronomic objectives. The smaller tine size should also result in less surface disruption and a quicker return to normal playing conditions. We will collect soil data again ahead of spring aeration and use those results to determine the appropriate scale of the program. Cultural practices will continue to be guided by 18

measurable agronomic conditions, protecting long-term turf health while minimizing unnecessary disruption to member play.

Fall Course Management Native and naturalized areas are being mowed and harvested at approximately six inches to remove accumulated material, improve appearance, and prepare selected areas for future seeding and weed management. Our rotating sixhole bunker maintenance program also continues, allowing the Agronomy Team to regularly inspect and adjust sand depths before inconsistencies become larger issues. Additional course improvements include sod repairs to worn or compromised turf, walkingpath improvements, detailed edging and cleanup, and ongoing irrigation repairs and adjustments. Our contracted lake-management program also continues to focus on water quality, algae control, aeration, and the overall appearance of our water features.

Looking Ahead Our focus throughout the fall will be to preserve the excellent playing conditions established during the summer while preparing the golf course for cooler weather. Upcoming work will include greens aeration, preparation and seeding of selected native areas, overseeding of Par-3 tees, overseeding of our practice-facility, El Nino drainage preparation, and other targeted courseimprovement projects. Thank you for your continued support of the Agronomy Team and our efforts to continually improve Diablo Country Club’s most important asset—the golf course.

RACQUET SPORTS

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

FA L L U P D AT E S

And just because summer ended doesn't mean pickleball at Diablo is slowing down!

August Kicked Off with a Bang!

Our Fall Pickleball League kicked off on September 3, and the action continues every Thursday from 6:00–7:30pm.

August started with plenty of action around the Racquet Sports Department as we wrapped up an incredible summer on the courts. We kicked off the month with the final week of our Junior Tennis Summer Camp, and we certainly finished on a high note! Twenty-five kids joined us for one last week filled with tennis, games, competition, laughter, and plenty of fun. While improving their tennis was certainly part of the week, summer camp has always been about much more than forehands and backhands. It was great to watch the kids make new friends, challenge themselves, cheer each other on, and create some great summer memories along the way. None of it would have been possible without our amazing coaching team. A huge thank you to Coach Ryan, Rishi, Alex, Ava, Lila, and Libby for bringing so much energy to the courts and keeping the kids engaged, learning, and, most importantly, having fun throughout the summer. Seeing 25 kids running around the courts during that final week was the perfect way to close out another successful summer camp season at Diablo.

If league play isn't enough pickleball for you, we've got you covered there too. Our Beginner/ Intermediate Pickleball Drop-In takes place every Tuesday from 10:00–11:30am, providing a great opportunity to gain match experience, meet other players, and get more comfortable competing. For our more experienced players, the 3.5+ Pickleball Drop-In takes place every Friday from 1:00–2:30pm with plenty of competitive games and good points. For more information about our pickleball drop-ins, contact marcos@diablocc.org, and for information about the Fall Pickleball League, contact pickleball@diablocc.org.

Diablo Hits the Road — Crow Canyon! On August 19, some of our Diablo pickleball players packed up their paddles and headed over to Crow Canyon for a fun club mixer. And they definitely brought the Diablo energy with them!

Pickleball Summer Fun!

There were plenty of dinks, drives, great points, laughs, and friendly competition throughout the evening. Our players had a great time representing Diablo and let's just say they weren't afraid to bring home a few wins along the way!

Our Summer Pickleball League wrapped up on August 13 after another great season. Throughout the summer, we saw some fantastic games, friendly competition, and, most importantly, a lot of camaraderie among our players.

Events like this are what Racquet Sports is all about. Yes, we love to compete, but it's also about meeting new people, building friendships, representing our Club, and having a great time doing it.

That's one of my favorite things about our pickleball program. Everyone wants to win and trust me, some of our players really want to win! but there's always plenty of laughing, socializing, and fun along the way.

A big thank you to Crow Canyon for hosting us and to all of our Diablo players who participated.

But as summer camp came to an end, August was just getting started...

Great competition, great people, and a lot of fun, but we weren't done yet! 27

RACQUET SPORTS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Molly Smiles Tennis & Pickleball Fundraiser

The '80s Called... and Diablo Answered! On Thursday, August 27, we turned back the clock and hosted the Vista Grande Tennis Fundraiser, and let's just say the '80s were alive and well at Diablo! The music was going, the outfits were out, and the courts were full of energy as everyone jumped into our Fast Tennis format. Fast Tennis was the perfect fit for the evening, quick rotations, lots of hitting, competitive points, and plenty of laughs. The goal was simple: keep everyone moving, keep everyone playing, and have FUN! And that's exactly what happened. The energy carried right off the courts afterward as everyone continued enjoying the evening together. It was one of those events where you look around and see people laughing, playing, and having a great time and think, this is exactly what a Racquet Sports social should feel like. But apparently one fundraiser wasn't enough for August...

Molly Smiles — Tennis, Pickleball & a Great Cause Just two days later, on Saturday, August 29, we were right back at it as Diablo hosted the Molly Smiles Tennis & Pickleball Fundraiser. What a day! It was great to see so many of our members come out and support such a meaningful cause while doing something we all love. 28

Both the tennis and pickleball courts were full, the energy around the Club was fantastic, and there were plenty of laughs and great competition throughout the event. What made the day even more special was seeing our members come together. Racquet Sports has an incredible ability to bring people together, and this event was a perfect example of that. Great tennis. Great pickleball. Great people. And, most importantly, a great cause. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success!

A Big Thank You to Our Captains! With so many teams competing this fall, none of this would be possible without our amazing team captains. Being a captain is much more than putting together a lineup. They’re managing availability, communicating with players and opposing teams, coordinating schedules and reschedules, and sometimes doing a little detective work trying to find that last player for a match! A huge thank you to Julie Wallunas, Bridget Ivanov, Kelly Feinstein, Jackie Malakoff, Kelly McQueen, Carla Forgham, Aliza Grosh, Sara Parr, Carisa Ferraioli, Dana Brent, RJ Forgham, Wendy Sanchez, and all of our captains helping lead our Diablo teams this season. Your time, energy, and commitment are a huge part of what makes our league program successful. Thank you for stepping up, supporting your teammates, and representing Diablo! With all these teams going at the same time, it takes a lot of teamwork both on and off the court. Thank you, Captains! And, of course, good luck to all of our players representing Diablo this season. Compete hard, support your teammates, have fun, and Vamos Diablo!

Ladies UTSA 6.5 Combo Team

And Just Like That... League Season Arrived! After a summer filled with camps, socials, mixers, and events, we closed out August by jumping straight into one of our busiest times of the year: League season! And when I say busy, I mean BUSY! This fall, Diablo has teams competing across Fall League, East Bay, USTA Daytime Combo, and USTA Night/Weekend Combo. Our Fall League features A2, A3, B2/B3, and C teams, while our East Bay program includes A3, A3 50+, C, and Singles. On the USTA side, we have 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 Daytime Combo teams, along with 5.5 Women, 6.5 Women, and 6.5 Men competing in Night/ Weekend Combo. That's a lot of Diablo tennis!

The Men Are Taking Over the Courts! One of the most exciting things happening around our tennis program has been the continued growth of men's tennis at Diablo. Our Tuesday Men's Clinic runs from 7:00–8:30 PM, and our Wednesday Men's Drop-In gives players another opportunity to get on the courts from 7:00–8:30pm. We also have our FREE Men's Tennis Clinic on the last Wednesday of every month, designed for everyone from experienced players to guys who haven't picked up a racquet in years or have never picked one up at all. We've seen more men coming out, meeting other players, getting back into tennis, and becoming more involved in the program. Coach Ryan has 29

RACQUET SPORTS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

done an awesome job helping grow this group, and it's exciting to see the momentum building. If you haven't joined us yet, come out! You don't need to be a great tennis player. Bring a racquet, bring some energy, and we'll take care of the rest.

From New Players to League Players! Another exciting part of our tennis program has been watching so many of our newer ladies become more confident on the court and make the jump into league tennis.

Our goal is to give every junior a place to start and a pathway to keep improving all while making sure they're having fun along the way.

What a Month!

A big shout-out to Coach Romana and Ryan, who have done an amazing job working with many of our newer players, especially our 2.5 ladies. They have spent a lot of time helping them develop their games, understand doubles positioning and strategy, and most importantly, feel comfortable and confident enough to compete.

When August began, we were saying goodbye to Summer Camp. By the time it ended, we had wrapped up our Summer Pickleball League, traveled to Crow Canyon, hosted two fantastic fundraisers, launched a full slate of tennis leagues, continued growing our men's program, and welcomed our juniors back for another season.

At the end of August, Romana organized a tennis mixer specifically for our newer players, giving them the opportunity to experience what an actual league match feels like. They got to play matches, learn positioning and scoring, experience some of those match-day nerves, and have a lot of fun along the way!

Not exactly a quiet month!

And the best part? Many of those same ladies are now actively involved in our leagues! That is exactly what we want to see, players starting in clinics, developing their games, gaining confidence, and then taking that next step into match and league play.

Thank you to our members, captains, coaches, staff, juniors, parents, and everyone else who helped make August such a memorable month.

The Next Generation of Diablo Tennis While our adults are keeping the courts busy, our juniors aren't letting them have all the fun! With Summer Camp behind us, our focus has shifted back to the Junior Tennis Academy, and we're continuing to build a clear pathway for kids to learn, improve, and progress through the game. Our pathway begins with Red Ball, moves into Orange Ball, then Green Dot, and eventually into our Elite Yellow Ball program. But the best part isn't simply watching kids move from one ball to another. It's watching their confidence grow. 30

It's seeing a child who could barely rally a few months ago suddenly playing points. It's seeing friendships develop on the courts. It's seeing them compete, make mistakes, figure things out, and come back the next day excited to play again. That's what junior tennis should be about.

But that's what makes Racquet Sports at Diablo so much fun. There is always something happening, always someone new getting involved, and always another reason to grab a racquet or paddle and get out on the courts.

And if August and September were any indication of what's ahead... Fall is going to be a lot of fun. See you on the courts, and Vamos Diablo!

Marco Sanchez MARCO SANCHEZ, Racquet Sports Director
