M I DDL E BU RG — Ap ex Homes of Pa made sales of nearly $30 million in 2024, exceeding its goal by more than $2 million. “We had our best year last year,” Apex Homes President Lynn Kuhns said of the company reaching $29.6 million in sales in 2024. The company was started in 1990 in Middleburg by Robert Nipple, Kuhns’ stepfather-in-law, who earlier founded two other companies, Penn Lyon Homes in Selinsgrove and Excel Homes in Mifflintown. Kuhns joined Apex Homes in 1992 and following Nipple’s death in 2007, bought the company out of bankruptcy with several others in August 2014. With a controlling share of the company, Kuhns has served as president ever since. In 2014, the company had about $9 million in sales and employed about 80. APEX Homes president Lynn Kuhns says his company did almost $30 million in sales in 2024. “Obviously, we’d like to grow,” he said, but filling openings hasn’t been easy. Recently, of 38 applicants, 10 were hired and only one person showed up for work, Kuhns said.
Employee Caleb Gilbert is one of the seasoned employees at Apex, with nearly nine years of experience. “It’s a good job, and good money,” he said.
