Sustainable architecture is the use of design strategies that reduce the negative environmental impact from a built environment. Architects tend to use environmentally friendly systems and building materials during construction. When designing public buildings with sustainability in mind, the following four sustainable architecture strategies were considered:

THERMAL COMFORT

The term 'thermal comfort' describes a person's state of mind in terms of whether they feel too hot or too cold.

AIR QUALITY

AQI values below 100 are generally thought of as satisfactory. When AQI values are above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy.

NOISE ABSORPTION

Sound absorption is the loss of sound energy when sound waves comes into contact with an absorbent material.

BIOPHILIA

Biophilia is defined as the innate human instinct to connect with nature and other living beings.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

ECOLOGICAL Bearable

Viable ECONOMICAL SOCIAL

Equitable

Passive Ventilation strategies, such as considering sun orientation and climate when siting and being thoughtful about window placement and operation.

Consultations with mechanical and electrical engineers to implement highefficiency electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc, for reduced carbon footprints.

Renewable energy systems, including those that harness solar and wind energy, are also great options for some buildings.

making it a priority to purchase steel, lumber, concrete, and other materials, such as carpet, furnishings, from companies are environmentally responsible.

ARCITECTURAL PAINTING ELECTIVE

This subject that I chose as an elective in Semester 4 enabled me to explore my creative side in a fun way.

At the inception, we learned about COLOUR THEORY, COLOUR WHEEL, MONOCHROMATIC COLOURS, ETC.

We also looked through one of my favourite Architect. Frank Lloyd Wright and one of my favourite Artist Vincent Van Gogh. We also worked with different techniques of painting that included - GESSO PAINTING, KINFE PAINTING, OIL PAINTING AND ACRYLICS.

PAINTING PAINTING

DRAWINGS AND PAINTINGS

My love for art has never diminished till date. Before my 3rd semester I restricted myself to only oil pastels and steadtlers.

Because of the elective I chose, I started taking up new techniques right up my alley that includedACRYLICS, WATER COLOURS and GESSO.

As a lover of art, i was always endorsed into painting landscapes. Learning this technique enabled me make many landscapes at different times of the day and even at different seasons. I even started trying realistic colouring using steadtlers and hence the Burger, Macaroons and the Doughnut.

TRAVEL AND PHOTOGRAPHY TRAVEL AND PHOTOGRAPHY

“I think the travelling and exposure to new places and new people can be really reviving personally and also eye opening to see how other people live. To see how life functions, whether human or natural life, in other places is really humbling. It’s easy to have your status quo at home, but as soon as you’re in a new place - all bets are off. You can do anything, and are so willing to try new stuff to push your own boundaries purely because you’re in a new place, and capturing and photographing these moments through my phone have been my all time favourite.
