Safe Edge is intended to be an easy and simple to install method of securing open and hazardous inspection hatches;to prevent people from falling and objects being knocked into these open holes on deck.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP SafeEdge by Rustibus® Before you begin

Step 1: Verify the completness of your SafeEdge • Check that all components are attached properly and in a proper/safe working order.

(Check that there are no loose parts) • Familiarise yourself with the usage of the separate segments of the Safe Edge cover. *fig.1

Step2: Locate area for use • Are the corrects permits in place for the operation you are about to start.

• Is the inspection hatch the correct dimension (hole dimensions 600 x 400 mm) for use with the Safe Edge.

Step 3: Before Positioning the Safe Edge • Loosen and remove the nuts that secure the inspection hatch cover. *fig.2 • Remove the inspection hatch/manhole cover.

Step 4: Position the Safe Edge • With the cover closed, place the Safe Edge over the hole of the inspection hatch. *fig.3 • Ensure that the Safe Edge sits firmly over the protruding bolts.

Step 5: Usage • The Safe Edge opens up fully to give access to workers. It can then be closed to prevent fall hazards.

• The open segments at the hinge of the Safe edge allow cables and small hoses free access, without leaving the cover open.

• For larger hoses e.t.c. the side segments can be employed and these can cover over the open hole to prevent any fall hazard. *fig.4 Step 6: Maintenance of Safe Edge • Keep your Safe Edge clean.

• When not in use, store in a safe and accessible place.
