We are excited to share with you important information about the Upper School experience at

Traders Point. Here your student will benefit from a challenging curriculum taught from a biblical worldview, including competitive AP and dual credit courses and our Schools Within a School model.

When a student walks into the halls of our state-of-the-art building for the first time, they see

firsthand how God is at work. Each classroom opens limitless possibilities to stretch their minds, challenge their intellect, and expand their knowledge as far as they are willing to go. Students are given the opportunity to build lifelong, positive, and uplifting relationships with peers and teachers.

We strive to come alongside each student to help them grow and mature in their relationship with Christ. Each student is divinely gifted and our job at Traders Point Christian School is to help

Students in our Upper School, grades 7th-12th, have the unique opportunity to participate in competitive course offerings, hands on experiences, and a variety of student life activities that prepare them for their post secondary education or career. They will become critical thinkers who are knowledgeable, skillful and responsible, and who can succeed as lifelong learners in a diverse society.

Academics At TPCS students will learn to live biblically, think critically and creatively, exhibit strong numeracy, speak with confidence, read with understanding, write with clarity, practice effective problem solving, hunger for discovery and investigation, lead with excellence and impact the world for Christ. Opportunities to achieve these skills are provided through a rigorous curriculum and competitive course offerings including AP and Dual Credit.

Building Your Academic Portfolio A student’s academic portfolio is a compilation of their high school achievements both academic and extracurricular. It showcases a student’s strengths, interests, and individuality. An impressive portfolio is well rounded with academic performance, rigorous course selections, leadership initiatives, and volunteer participation. Students are encouraged to take challenging courses throughout their high school career and participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including sports, fine arts, student council, National Honor Society, our Schools Within a School, and work based learning.

Naviance Upon entering the Upper School, each student will create a Naviance account. Naviance is a comprehensive online tool that helps assess and develop the essential competencies students need to be successful after high school. This unique tool allows your student to explore career paths, research and compare colleges to determine best fit, apply for scholarships, and more. Students update their Naviance account regularly throughout the year as they store their completed courses and involvement in extracurricular activities, school clubs, and service projects. This helps to provide a snapshot view of their graduation path so at any time they can see where they are currently and where they are striving to be. To login, have your student open their Google Chrome account, followed by Clever. Here you will see a tab to access Naviance directly.

College and Career Planning Services TPCS is proud to offer college and career planning services to all of our enrolled students beginning in 7th grade. Prior to the start of each year, an academic advisor will meet with your family to discuss your student’s short term and long term goals and to select the following year’s courses. Your advisor will develop a close relationship with your student to assist them in identifying their strengths and spiritual gifts. They will meet with your student at various times throughout the year to offer encouragement, track their progress, and update their Naviance account. This advisor will be here during your junior and senior year to guide you through the process of preparing for life after high school. This is a valuable resource regardless of whether your student plans to attend college, trade school, enlist in the military, or immediately enter the workforce. TPCS will host regular parent/ student meetings, workshops, college fairs, and assist in the process of applying for college admission and scholarships.

making disciples. Annual Retreats Our Upper School retreats take place at the beginning of each school year. This is a special time of leadership and spiritual growth, packed full of teaching, bonding, and unique opportunities. The experience is intended to create bonds of friendship and a sense of family, fostering a strong beginning to the year ahead. Of course, in an exciting place like Springhill Camp, there are many opportunities for fun through games, activities, humor, and making lasting memories with peers and mentor leaders. We look forward to sharing this very special and unique experience with our students each year!

Mentor Groups Every student at TPCS is placed in a mentor group whom they meet with each week. Here, strong relationships are built between the student, their peers, and their leader. This time is designed to be a place where challenging topics can be discussed in a safe, Christ centered environment. Students can share their struggles, seek accountability and prayer while being encouraged and pointed toward God’s Word.

Exploration Trips All Upper School students, grades 7-12, are required to participate in our annual Exploration Trips, traditionally held the week before Spring Break.

2021 Opportunities:

7th Grade (3 Day) - Explore Cincinnati: Students embark on a 3 day trip where they will experience the magnificent Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. They’ll also enjoy the Newport Aquarium and a local Riverboat cruise. 8th Grade (5 Day) - Explore Washington DC: Examine America’s heritage through a biblical worldview as you visit well known sites including Capital Hill, the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, the Museum of the Bible, and more.

9th -12th Grade: Trip of Choice

Costa Rica (6 Day) - Experience the joy of building a home and presenting the keys to a family in need in one of the neighboring marginal communities of San Jose. Before heading home students will visit a local coffee plantation and take a catamaran cruise with lunch and snorkeling. Houston (4 Day) - Interested in STEM? This 4 day trip is packed full of opportunities to learn about the science of physics and the aerodynamics through an indoor skydiving experience, hands-on engineering, a technology encounter with TXRXLabs, and an up close look at the hub of space travel NASA. Appalachia (5 Day) - Travel to beautiful Eastern Kentucky and serve in one of the poorest communities in the U.S. Participate in various projects that all seek to help an area struck with immense poverty including home repairs, evangelism, painting, cleaning, and more. Through this trip students will develop a deeper understanding of what it means to serve their neighbors with the love of Christ.

NYC (5 Day) - Experience the culture of New York City as you stroll through world-renown museums, experience a Broadway show, and gain a new appreciation for the arts. Students will visit Guggenheim Museum, interact with Broadway performers up close and personal and stop by the famous Radio City Music Hall. United Kingdom (8 Day) - Students begin their journey in London as they experience all of the iconic sites! Then they’ll travel to Oxford as they deeper into their study of C.S. Lewis before moving onto Scotland to catch a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle and hike to the top of Arthur’s Seat.

Servant Leadership 20 Hours

The Chick-fil-a Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on IMPACT THROUGH ACTION. We believe that it’s important for students to have an outlet to learn and lead. Chick-fil-A Leader Academy engages students in monthly Leader Labs with a focus on important leadership skills that they will use to create student-led Community Impact Projects.

Students in grades 9-10 are required to complete 20 hours of servant leadership each year. Our desire is for students to identify the characteristics of servant leadership, establish the attitudes and habits of a servant leader, positively contribute to collaborative activities in our school and local community and to develop an attitude and heart for serving others as modeled by Christ.

Each month, students gather to learn timeless leadership principles through lessons that we call Leader Labs. Taught in a relevant and engaging way, these Leader Labs give students the practical tools needed to make a positive impact in their local communities. The program includes 2 service projects as well as an end of year capstone project.

Students in grades 11 and 12 are required to complete 20 hours of work-based learning or internship each year in the career field of their choice.

TPCS will accept up to 30 applicants per year for participation in the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy.

Internships/Work-Based Learning 20 Hours

This provides valuable real life experience through a hands on approach at a time when students are making their final decisions in career exploration.

Leadership Speakers Series To expand our students’ understanding of how to use their Godgiven leadership skills, TPCS will host a series of dynamic and diverse inspirational speakers each year, who are active in their faith. These speakers will inspire, encourage, inform, and provide a greater understanding of how students can influence the world for Christ in whatever career path they choose. Speakers will present to the collective student body from grades 7-12. Speakers will focus on career and leadership opportunities that align with our three schools and our credo.

Student Council

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Every student at TPCS is encouraged to run for a position on student council in grades 7-12. Student Council is a partnership between the student body and the school. It provides an opportunity for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate.

Unite your two passions, faith and athletics, to impact the world for Christ. FCA challenges student athletes on all levels to use the powerful platform of sports to transform lives. Through weekly huddles and various opportunities to practice servant leadership, students are empowered to know and grow in Christ while leading others to do the same.

Through STUCO, student members are the voice of their student body. They coordinate student life activities, volunteer in various service projects, and build engagement throughout the upper school.

National Honor Society You excel. You serve. You lead. You succeed. You have a true thirst for challenge and accomplishment. Membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) may be an ideal fit for you! Each spring, eligible 10th grade students can apply to our local chapter of NHS. Selected students will be recognized during the annual induction ceremony at TPCS. Through exclusive resources, programs, and services, NHS members have a unique opportunity to prepare for college and career pursuits. Membership truly lays the groundwork for lifelong success.

diploma tracks Every student at TPCS is encouraged to pursue a Core40 with Academic Honors diploma. Students can also choose from the Indiana Core40 or the Core40 with Technical Honors.

schools within a school TPCS offers 3 distinct Schools Within a School. Each school offers the unique opportunity to enroll in competitive courses, receiving hands-on learning and instruction in their specific field of study. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a seal of distinction from their chosen school, noted on their diploma and transcript. Students who choose to enroll in a specific school will enhance their academic portfolio and resume, distinguishing themselves from their college applicants in the admissions process. Application Process Interested students must

• Submit an online application to the school of choice, complete with one letter of recommendation from a current TPCS teacher or faculty member. • Interview with the Faculty Advisor for the School of choice • Complete any required coursework prior to graduation with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and a grade of 85 or above in each of the required courses

Admissions to our Schools Within a School takes place each spring for the following academic year.

School of Applied Sciences The School of Applied Sciences is designed for students who desire an in-depth, hands on understanding of careers in the fields of engineering, robotics, computer programming, aviation and more. Any student in 10th-12th grade is eligible to apply. There are three distinct tracks to choose from; Aviation, Computer Sciences, or Engineering.

Aviation Track

Lift Academy (8th-12th grade students)

Did you know that 763,000 new pilots will be needed in the world by 2039, based on Boeing’s Pilot and Technician Outlook? Ironically, the number of pilot certificates issued by the Federal Aviation Administration has decreased more than 60 percent since 1980. This mismatch of supply and demand presents a tremendous opportunity for students to pursue aviation careers that they may not previously have considered. The LIFT Academy Aviation Exploration Center at Traders Point Christian Schools is housed on the second floor of our Upper School. It includes a beautiful learning space with lots of natural light and a state-of-the-art flight simulator. Traders Point is proud to partner with LIFT Academy and Republic Airways to offer our students the unique opportunity to explore a career in aviation while still in high school. Students who enroll in the LIFT program at TPCS have the ability to earn up to 100 flight hours prior to graduation with a preferred pathway to employment at Republic. Regardless of whether a student is interested in becoming a private pilot, a commercial pilot, or an airline maintenance technician, the LIFT Academy program at TPCS offers an accelerated pathway to a successful career in aviation. Required Courses: Year 1 - Intro to Aviation 1st sem ester

Launching Into Aviation

This introductory course will provide the foundation for advanced exploration in the areas of flying, aerospace engineering, and unmanned aircraft systems. Students will learn about engineering practices, problem-solving, and the innovations and technological developments that have made today’s aviation and aerospace industries possible. Students will look at the problem-solving practices and innovative leaps that transformed space exploration from the unimaginable to the common in a single generation. Students will also gain historical perspective, starting from the earliest flying machines and leading to the wide variety of modern aircraft and the integral role they play in making today’s world work. 2nd S em ester

Exploring Aviation and Aerospace

This core aerospace and aviation course provides the foundation for both pathways. It is designed to give students a clear understanding of career opportunities in aviation and aerospace and the critical issues affecting the aviation system. Students will also begin to drill down into the various sectors of aviation and the elements that make up the aviation and aerospace ecosystem. They will discover how advances in aviation created a need for regulation and will learn about the promulgation of civil aviation oversight. Students will explore modern innovations and develop their own innovative ideas to address real-world challenges facing the aviation industry. They will be exposed to a variety of career options in aviation and aerospace and take an in-depth look at the opportunities available.

Year 2 - Aviation 2 1st Semest er

Introduction to Flight

In the Introduction to Flight Course, students pursuing the pilot and UAS tracks will take a closer look at the aircraft they may one day operate. Students will begin with an exploration of the types of aircraft in use today before going on to learn how aircraft are made and how they fly. Students will understand how aircraft are categorized, be able to identify their parts, and learn about aircraft construction techniques and materials. They will gain an in-depth understanding of the forces of flight—lift, weight, thrust, and drag—including how to make key calculations. They will then touch on aircraft design, looking at stability, aircraft controls, and maneuvering flight. The course will conclude with a focus on career skills related to these topics.

2nd S em ester -

Pilot Pathway - Flight Planning

The Flight Planning course will cover remaining topics necessary for students to take the Federal Aviation Administration’s Private Pilot Knowledge Test. Students will learn pilot and aircraft qualifications, cross-country flight planning, weight and balance, performance and limitations, human factors, chart use, night operations, navigation systems, and aeronautical decision making. Students will be provided the opportunity to participate in multiple practice examinations. At the end of this course, a school may choose to arrange for students to be signed off to take the Federal Aviation Administration’s Private Pilot written exam.

UAS Pathway (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) - The Flying Environment This course is foundational for both manned and unmanned aviation, and will prepare students to take either of two Federal Aviation Administration tests: the Private Pilot Knowledge Test or the Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test. Topics include: pre-flight procedures, airspace, radio communications, aviation phraseology, regulations, airport operations, aviation safety, weather, cockpit management, and emergency procedures.

Pilot Pathway - Preflight Your Career

Aircraft System and Performance

In the Aircraft Systems and Performance course, students in the UAS and Pilot tracks will take an in-depth look at the systems that make manned and unmanned aircraft work as well as the instrumentation powered by those systems. Beginning with aircraft powerplants and fuel systems, students will learn about the different options available and how they affect aircraft design and performance. They will go on to explore other key aircraft systems, including electrical, pitot-static, and vacuum systems. Throughout, they will learn about the flight instruments associated with each system and how to identify and troubleshoot common problems. This unit also covers airplane flight manuals, the pilot’s operating handbook, and required aircraft documents. Finally, students will learn about the factors that affect aircraft performance and how to determine critical operating data for aircraft.

Year 3 - Aviation 3 1st Semest er

The Flying Environment

After having prepared for the Private Pilot Knowledge Test and Part 107 Remote Pilot Test in the previous year, students will examine advanced aviation topics and aviation career options. Instrument flight, commercial aviation, and advanced aircraft systems begin the semester. Looking into the future, students will then explore new horizons in the aerospace industry. What might aviation look like five, ten, or 20 years into the future? The focus then turns to business development opportunities in aviation. Finally, students will learn about and conduct different types of research in preparation for their capstone project in the second semester.

Pilot Pathway - The Capstone Experience

The capstone course is the culmination of the student learning experience. The students will work as individuals or in small groups to study and report on an approved aviation topic of their choosing. The goal of this capstone course is to allow students to demonstrate an understanding of a contemporary topic in aviation as it relates to flying. The curriculum will include presentations and activities to help guide student research and project development as well as suggestions for topics or projects that can be adapted to match available resources. All Aviation courses are taught in collaboration with LIFT Academy using the AOPA Curriculum.

Computer Science Track

Engineering Track

(9th-12th grade students)

PLTW Computer Science empowers students to become creators, instead of merely consumers, of the technology all around them. The program engages students in collaborative projects that help them develop in-demand computer science knowledge as well as transportable skills like creative thinking and communication. And whether they’re creating an online art gallery or using automation to process and analyze DNA-sequence data, PLTW Computer Science students are seeing how their learning connects to the real world.

From launching space explorations to delivering safe, clean water to communities, engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality. PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The program’ s courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers.

Required Coursework 1st Year - PLTW Computer Science Essentials

With emphasis on computational thinking and collaboration, this year-long course provides an excellent entry point for students to begin or continue the PLTW Computer Science PreK-12 experience. Computer Science Essentials will expose students to a diverse set of computational thinking concepts, fundamentals, and tools, allowing them to gain understanding and build confidence. In Computer Science Essentials, students will use visual, block-based programming and seamlessly transition to text-based programming with languages such as Python to create apps and develop websites, and learn how to make computers work together to put their design into practice. They’ll apply computational thinking practices, build their vocabulary, and collaborate just as computing professionals do to create products that address topics and problems important to them. Computer Science Essentials helps students create a strong foundation to advance to Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A, and beyond.

Year 2 - PLTW Computer Science Using Python® as a prtimary tool, students learn the fundamentals of coding, data processing, data security, and task automation, while learning to contribute to an inclusive, safe, and ethical computing culture. The course promotes computational thinking and coding fundamentals and introduces computational tools that foster creativity. Computer Science Principles helps students develop programming expertise and explore the workings of the Internet. Projects and problems include app development, visualization of data, cybersecurity, and simulation. PLTW is recognized by the College Board as an endorsed provider of curriculum and professional development for AP® Computer Science Principles (AP CSP). This endorsement affirms that all components of PLTW CSP’s offerings are aligned to the AP Curriculum Framework standards and the AP CSP assessment.

Year 3 - PLTW Cyber Security Cybersecurity introduces the tools and concepts of cybersecurity and encourages students to create solutions that allow people to share computing resources while protecting privacy. Nationally, computational resources are vulnerable and frequently attacked; in Cybersecurity, students solve problems by understanding and closing these vulnerabilities. This course raises students’ knowledge of and commitment to ethical computing behavior. It also aims to develop students’ skills as consumers, friends, citizens, and employees who can effectively contribute to communities with a dependable cyber-infrastructure that moves and processes information safely.

Required Coursework Year 1 - PLTW Engineering Essentials

Students explore the breadth of engineering career opportunities and experiences as they solve engaging and challenging real-world problems like creating a natural relief center system or creating a solution to improve the safety and well-being of local citizens.

Year 2 - PLTW Principles of Engineering

Students explore a broad range of engineering topics including mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation, and then they apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car.

Year 3 - PLTW Engineering Design and Development

The knowledge and skills students acquire throughout PLTW Engineering come together in Engineering Design and Development as they identify an issue and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their solution to a panel of engineers. Students apply the professional skills they have developed to document a design process to standards, completing Engineering Design and Development ready to take on any post-secondary program or career.

School of Business and Entrepreneurship The School of Business and Entrepreneurship is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a future career in business. This includes human resources, sales, management, finance, marketing, accounting, law or entrepreneurship. Through this distinct pathway students will develop the key competencies necessary to succeed in their field of choice including analytical and critical thinking skills, written and oral communication proficiency, ethics awareness, and much more as outlined in the required courses below.

Year 1 - Dual Credit - Principles of Entrepreneurship

Principles of Entrepreneurship focuses on the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur and provides students the opportunity to apply the entrepreneurial process to their own business idea. The course helps students to identify and evaluate business ideas while learning the steps and competencies required to launch a successful new venture. Students are challenged to consider the appropriateness of an entrepreneurial career for themselves by conducting a personal inventory. The course helps students apply what they have learned from the content when they write a Personal Vision Statement, a Business Concept Statement, and an Elevator Pitch.

Year 2 - Dual Credit - New Venture Development

New Venture Development challenges students to apply what they have learned about the Entrepreneurial process and themselves in the principles course. You will use an entrepreneurial process, like the RISE model or the Lean Start Up model, to build and launch your business “from the ground up”. The course will require the student to meet with potential customers, mentors and key stakeholders. Students should take advantage of opportunities outside the classroom to participate in entrepreneurial pitch competitions.

Year 3 - Small Business Operations

Small Business Operations will help students to understand and apply or implement the correct legal, business, human resources, operations, marketing and financial structures after their product launch.

School of Biomedical Sciences The School of Biomedical Sciences is a unique program designed to prepare its members for a broad array of biological, research, or medical fields. The program cultivates opportunities to engage in challenging academic coursework with a strong biblical conscience. Working with the same equipment and tools used by lab professionals, PLTW Biomedical Science students are empowered to explore and find solutions to some of today’s most pressing medical challenges. Through scaffolded activities that connect learning to life, students step into the roles of biomedical science professionals and investigate topics including human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and public health. Students work together in teams to find unique solutions, and in the process, learn in-demand, transferable skills like critical thinking and communication.

Required Courses PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science

In this course, students explore concepts of biology and medicine as they take on roles of different medical professionals to solve real-world problems. Over the course of the year, students are challenged in various scenarios including investigating a crime scene to solve a mystery, diagnosing and proposing treatment to patients in a family medical practice, to tracking down and containing a medical outbreak at a local hospital, stabilizing a patient during an emergency, and collaborating with others to design solutions to local and global medical problems.

PLTW Human Body Systems

Students examine the interactions of human body systems as they explore identity, power, movement, protection, and homeostasis in the body. Exploring science in action, students build organs and tissues on a skeletal Maniken®; use data acquisition software to monitor body functions such as muscle movement, reflex and voluntary action, and respiration; and take on the roles of biomedical professionals to solve real-world medical cases.

PLTW Biomedical Innovation

In the final course of the PLTW Biomedical Science sequence, students build on the knowledge and skills gained from previous courses to design innovative solutions for the most pressing health challenges of the 21st century. Students address topics ranging from public health and biomedical engineering to clinical medicine and physiology. They have the opportunity to work on an independent project with a mentor or advisor from a university, medical facility, or research institution.

Scholarship Opportunities

The National Merit Scholarship Program uses PSAT/NMSQT scores to identify candidates. Scholarships offered by new College Board partners use information from the PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 10 to expand access to scholarship dollars. The SAT Suite of Assessments helps students navigate their path through high school toward college and career, and offers a range of unique benefits to students. The suite is an integrated system made up of the PSAT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and the SAT. These tests measure the same skills and knowledge in ways that make sense for different grade levels, so it’s easier for students, parents, and educators to monitor student progress.

TPCS students will also participate in the following two assessments ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) (CEP) The ASVAB is a career exploration assessment given to students in 10th grade. This tool helps young adults explore career field entry requirements and various career paths, both military and civilian. Test results are sent to TPCS where students will explore the results with an academic advisor. The scores report how the student performed on each subtest area, and how their scores compare with others who took the test. Participants receive three composite scores in verbal, math and science/technical skills used for career exploration.

Access to AP and College Credit

Using results from the redesigned SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9, AP PotentialTM helps schools identify students likely to succeed in certain AP courses and AP Exams. These students are also notified of their potential directly.

Inspire Productive Practice

Within the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9, students encounter questions and tasks that closely resemble what is already happening in classrooms across the nation and the globe. This is why the best way to prepare for the assessments is to take challenging courses and to work hard in class.

Plan for Future Careers

Students can create free career roadmaps based on their interests at roadtripnation.com. They can also explore college majors, watch videos for tips from experienced professionals, and see how to get to where they want to be. What are my options? Colleges and Universities

This option offers associate’s and bachelor’s degrees as well as the opportunity to prepare for higher degrees such as a master’s or doctorate degree.

Community Colleges/Junior College

Here you can earn an associate’s degree or a certificate in a technical or vocational field. This is also a great start for students who wish to later transfer to a university.

Business Schools

Offer training in skills and careers specific to an office environment. These certifications are often earned in 18 months or less.

Military Academies

United State Naval, Military, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine Academies offer a high level of education and specialized training to enter the military as an officer upon graduation.

Steps to Success

Utilize your online planning tools such as Naviance and CommonApp. By tracking your progress throughout Upper School, you’ll be able to easily map out the road ahead. Use the “college search” and “Super Match” tools within Naviance to begin your college search. • Explore career paths and conduct college visits as early as your 9/10th grade year. This allows time to compare and contrast your opportunities and revisit those that interest you most. • Ensure that you have taken all of the necessary standardized tests required for admission. • Request your transcript from the Guidance Department at TPCS. • Collect 3 letters of recommendation from TPCS teachers or faculty. • Review online application procedures and submit prior to deadline. • Give yourself options! advanced course offerings Understanding Advanced Courses and Which Are Most Valuable With so many acronyms and labels ahead of high school course descriptions, it can often be difficult to understand which ones offer the greatest opportunities for your student. Dual Credit (DC) Dual credit courses are the gold standard. They are the highest level of course a student can take prior to their freshman year of college. Successful completion of the course results in both a high school credit as well as college credit. Taking dual credit courses in high school is an excellent way to get a head start on a student’s college career.

Advanced Placement (AP) Advanced placement curriculum is designed by The College Board and is similar to college- or university-level survey courses in terms of depth of coverage and the reading required. At the end of the course, students will take the AP exam which is scored from 1-5. Students who score 3 or higher on the exam receive a recommendation from The College Board for advanced standing, credit, or both from the college they plan to attend.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Project Lead the Way courses are activity, project and problem based which provides a hands on approach to the classroom. PLTW courses begin in Early Childhood and progress through Lower School and finally Upper School where they are part of our Schools Within a School curriculum. PLTW students have exclusive access to a variety of recognition opportunities including scholarships, preferred admission to colleges and universities, internships, industry connections, and over avenues to highlight their achievement. Honors At TPCS, our focus on Training Scholars pushes us to provide the most rigorous opportunities possible for our upper school students. While many schools offer honors courses, Traders Point has chosen not to have classes labeled as honors. There is no standard or criteria for what defines an honors course from one school to the next. So a course that is rigorous at school A but not labeled honors could potentially be more rigorous than the same course offered as an honors course at school B. We are confident that colleges are most likely to accept dual credit courses as courses that will check the box for required subjects. We believe the best path for a college-bound student is to take as many Dual Credit, AP, and Project Lead the Way courses as possible. When selecting courses, parents and students should understand that the most credible courses are those that are dual credit.
