I hope you like her as well as we do. This is just the type of heifer that we have been building toward at Bowles J5 Reds. She is dark red, very thick and deep with a lot of muscle all the way through her. Fayet’s sire is a home raised Dakota Copper son out of a cow that we purchased from Laubach Red Angus as a bred heifer. You don’t find heifers with any more mass that still have that feminine, broody look to them. Good Luck! and remember “you have to play to win”. This Copper Mine daughter comes from a four year old Cherokee Kid dam and ranks in the top 7% of the breed for HPG and top 11% for YG. She is a deep ribbed heifer with lots of capacity for a March heifer.
Selling Lottery Style – each $10 bid receives a ticket in the drawing with the heifer being drawn for and awarded at the end of the auction.
Thanks to Bowles J5 Reds – Chinook, Montana for this generous heifer donation.
Funds raised from the Donation Heifer Auction go toward supporting the Montana Red Angus Association and advertising placed in regional publications thoughout the bull sale season promoting Montana breeders.

Welcome to the 30th Annual Prestigious NILE Sale,
The Prestigious NILE Sale is an amazing place where anything can happen. Who can forget the 2005 NILE when Ken Marquis of Ithaca, New York bid $31,000 for a half interest in Raisland Rebella 520-502 and then doubled down to pay $62,000 for her as a weanling heifer ? At the NILE anything can happen. This year, I can tell you the seller’s are concerned with the drought and what prices will be. It may be the year you can’t afford to miss, a year when future Donor Females sell under the money, a year that you can buy a trailer load for a fraction of what it usually would cost . . . . at the NILE anything can happen ! Can you afford not to be tuned in? One thing I can tell you – after 30 consecutive years of having a Red Angus Auction, the NILE is still one of the most prestigious sets of Red Angus genetics offered anywhere in the world. Montana and the surrounding states have an extreme concentration of great cattle producers who bring their best to the NILE to showcase their operations at home! If you are “on the hunt” for some great Red Angus genetics, do not miss this great offering. There are many Red Angus activities in Billings during the NILE. Be sure and support all that you can. I will be in Billings Wednesday at noon and will be glad to field any of your calls regarding cattle or the sale. Remember the auction is not available on the internet so please call prior to noon on Friday October 19th for cattle representation. I look forward to seeing you all in Billings. Get excited and come buy some of the best Red Angus genetics available in the world. Best Regards,

J5 Miss Mats Chic 15Z – Lot 2
Here is a refined, feminine heifer with shape and muscle. She is the kind of heifer that grabs your eyes every time you go out into the pasture. Her mother came to us from TJS Red Angus – Lodge Grass, MT and she just keeps getting better with age. With her birth to yearling spread and a Marbling EPD of .53, your breeding options are wide open. All you have to do is get her home and she can take it from there.

BCRR Ms Tilly2 1138Y – Lot 3
Here is one really special bred heifer from the heart of our herd. This one is really hard to let go of! Our daughter Audrey exhibited this gal as a junior project this summer and she won our county fair placing Grand Champion Red Angus female and then she was slapped Overall Breed Champion Female. 1138Y is more than just another pretty face! Check out her stat's. She is in the top 20% of the breed in 7 different traits. Moderate at birth, at the top for weaning, yearling and milk coming in at 13%, 17% and 18% respectively. Her carcass stats are equally impressive as well with her ranking for marbling, carcass weight and rib eye placing in the top 18%, 20% and 6% of the breed. Sired by our senior herdsire "Feddes Atlas 867", a bull that has hit a home run at Bullis Creek siring stout sons that have been really well accepted by our bull customers and giving us easy keeping, feminine females. 1138Y's dam is a flush sister to our 2009 high selling bull and now a nationally known A.I. sire – BCRR Ol' Hickory. She is a moderate framed, great uddered daughter of our benchmark donor female – LCC Tilly MB008, an own daughter of Julian GGB571 and by Mulberry 26P on the top side. AI service to Red Get Along Wander on 5/31/2012. Wander is a Hobo 1961 son in service at Brylor Ranch in Alberta. 1138 sells guaranteed safe to the AI service.

BCRR Ramey Packer 130Y – Lot 4
You hear a lot of buzz about large "spread" EPD's these days. Well this gal could be the poster girl for the cause. A -2.7 birth which places her in the top 15 % of the breed and a +96 yearling weight which is in the 17th percentile. When you look at her complete EPD package 130Y shows 9 traits in the top 26% of the breed. A look at Ramey's dam shows a 101.6 MPPA and there are many notable sires in the background. Vacation, Julian, Rambler 1000, Hobo 1961, Heavenly and Rambo show up in the pedigree. 130Y is sired by Messmer Packer, the breed's #2 sire for registrations due to his balanced EPD’s and the body structure that he transmits. A bonus on this heifer is her AI service to Mulberry. This adds quite a bit of value to the heifer as 26P semen is selling for $250 if you can find anyone who will turn loose of any! A.I. service to Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P on 5/31/2012. PE to C- T Verdict 1013- #1365757

If you are looking for something outcross, this heifer will be just about as different as anything you could find. Sired by Red Northline Fat Tony a former National Champion bull from up north. Fat Tony shows a moderate birth and adds lots of body and volume to his progeny. 230Z's dam is a red gene carrying Registered Angus whose family originated in the McCumber Angus herd in Rollette, ND. The Miss Wix tribe is one of the most revered in the Angus world. Sired by Connealy Frontline, a bull that didn't see nearly enough use due to short semen supply. DBL Tree Erika 1219 – Lot 12
Double Tree Erika 1219 is a very deep ribbed, high capacity heifer sired by Messmer Packer 5008. Packer was the overwhelming #1 registration sire in the breed due to his balance in both EPDs and the body structure he transmits. Her dam, DBL Tree Erika 100D-706, is a Major League X Hi Ho 574 daughter that has been a solid producer for the Diges. This heifer, with only a 74# BW and a -3.1Birth EPD will make a terrific cow and ranks in the top 8% for HPG and top 10% for Stay.

Feddes Mischief Z25 – Lot 13
Long time Red Angus breeder Chuck Feddes brings us an exciting January heifer that ranks in the top 8% of the breed for WW, top 6% YW, top 6% TM, top 5% YG, top 5% CW and top 7% REA. Her dam is a young Feddes Atlas 12S daughter that has made her mark in the program, posting a 103.4 MPPA on her first 2 calves. Her sire was the high selling bull in the Feddes/C-T 2010 bull sale and this heifer is one of the first progeny from this exciting ABS stud bull. If you want your females to have a history of top maternal sires, take a serious look at Feddes Mischief with four of the breed’s greatest ever in Mission Statement X Grandcanyon X Norseman King X Bieber Make Mimi! Chuck says “at Feddes Red Angus we breed for balanced traits and this heifer covers all the bases”.

Selling a package of 3 embryos with the guarantee of 1 pregnancy if implanted by a Certified ET Technician. 87S is from the Lakina tribe, as is Feddes Lakina 310 (Big Sky's dam) at Feddes Red Angus. 87S' granddam produced two herd sires, one to Sandbur Ridge RA and the other to the Brawners at Bullis Creek Red Angus – (the Feddes Atlas 867 bull is doing a great job at Brawners, with progeny topping sales and excelling in carcass data). We used a Packer son out of 87S in our herd in 2012. 87S is a perfect uddered female with very sound feet and legs, just like several generations behind her. 87S performance: MPPA 104.6, AWR 106, AYR 106, AVERAGE REA ratio 103 – CF

Selling a package of 3 embryos with the guarantee of 1 pregnancy if implanted by a Certified ET Technician R98 is massive and powerful, with excellent feet and legs. We flushed her dam many times and then sold her to Wildcat Creek at the age of 10, still having a perfect udder structure. R98 mated with Epic is a very exciting possibility. We are expecting several calves from this mating in 2013. R98 performance: MPPA 102.8, AWR 104, AYR 104, AIMF ratio 110, AREA ratio 107 – CF When I think of the Feddes program, I think of great females with excellent udder structure, moderate sized efficient cattle that can crank out an outstanding calf. Your opportunities abound in the choice between Lot 14A or 14B. Epic has become one of the most used bulls in the past year because of his unique moderate birth with explosive growth (top 4% WW, top 3% YW) combined with top 5% HPG, rounded out by a top 20% MARB and top 12% REA! With Epic mated to two of the top Feddes cow families of all time – Lakina or Blockana – you cannot go wrong. Only in the Prestigious NILE do you get the chance to buy into some of the long time breeders programs and top cow families. Don’t pass up your chance to buy a building block in your program with these super embryo packages. – KG

Fischer Mahogany 245 – Lot 15
Lot 15 comes from the famed Mahogany cow family that originated at the Fischers with JVD Mahogany 508. This amazing cow was purchased by OHR Red Angus of North Dakota and has produced a $20,000 daughter to Link Ranch of Pennsylvania as well as 2 “Pick of the Herd Flush lots” for OHR via the Santa Sale. These flushes were selected by Bob Austin of Missouri and Von Forell & UBAR Ranch of Wyoming and Montana. This heifer is a result of Ron & Esther’s embryo purchase from the Reds On Ice Sale in Denver and comes from a truly no-miss, top proven cow family. Mulberry has written his own chapter in Red Angus history and even has an entire sale devoted to him in Emporia, Kansas – The Mulberry Mayhem. Mulberry has produced show winning animals across the globe but more importantly, is producing daughters with that “killer phenotype” look and extremely great mother cows. This dry, hot, crisp season has been hard on everyone and definitely limited this heifer’s weaning weight in the summer of 2012. Take her home and watch her explode into one of your top future Red Angus Donor Cows . . . . . . . from the Mahogany cow family!

Her sire gained national attention, dominating the Midland Bull Test in ‘06 and is jointly owned by the R.A. Lot 18 combines the Pieper, Shick, Milk Creek and Christensen programs into one package. She exhibits moderate birth with balanced EPDs across the board. Opportunites like the Prestigious NILE allow all of us, as Red Angus breeders, the chance to study genetic combinations in the search of the really great ones. The main question is: can you afford not to be at the NILE ? If you aren’t there, your competition will be finding and buying the great ones! 10

Consigned by: MARK JANSMA / JANSMA RED ANGUS ACTON, MT / angus_baron@yahoo.com / 406/861-8619 This late February heifer from Mark Jansma offers a combination of two long standing, highly regarded Red Angus breeding programs in Green Mountain & Feddes. The Blockana cow family has become synonamous with great structured, highly maternal genetics that get the job done year in and year out. Her sire puts Mission Statement on one of the premier tribes at Green Mountain – the Estonia cow family! Her +62 WW, +101 YW and +55 TM EPDs place her in the top 3%, top 3% and top 8% of the breed for ranking. If you want a heifer that will absolutely turn it on – in her individual performance and in her future production career, buy this promising Blockana X Estonia female!
MLK CRK Lakota 184 – Lot 20
This heifer ranks in the top 25% for 10 out of the 15 EPD traits measured. She is the first Redstone daugther to sell out of the Milk Creek Program and probably the first to sell anywhere in the world. Lakota 184 is moderate framed, wide based and structurally correct with a lot of capacity. From the highly productive (and well regarded) Lakota cow family, her dam and grand dam have a reliable 103 and 102 MPPA respectively. AI bred to Mushrush Impressive – due February 20, 2013. Why is the Prestigious NILE one of the top Red Angus Auctions in the country ? Because Bruce says “If the buyer doesn't like our pick of this heifer they can come pick out of all of our bred heifers”. Suzi Q is as long as they come with excellent structure, capacity and thickness. She has turned many heads throughout the summer as she strutts her stuff. Sporting a YG & REA in the top 1% of the breed with 7 traits in the top 25%. She posted an amazing 110 WR. KCC Lana Z2 – Lot 25
This Berry Cherry daughter exhibits why he has been a popular bull and why his progeny have been in the top of some of the most prestigious Red Angus Sales in the world like NILE and Bet On Red. Berry Cherry was the syndicated bull from the Shick’s 2008 Sale in Cheyenne at the National RAAA Convention where he sold for $19,650 for 1/2 interest at weaning time. He has been proven in the syndicated buyer’s programs including Lee Ranches, Raisland Red Angus, Fehman & Severance Red Angus and Little Creek Farm. This heifer is a beauty but most importantly ranks in top 15% of the breed for many traits across the board. Her dam is a productive 102.8 MPPA cow coming from the Tongue River program of Wyoming. If you like “fancy” with production, be sure and look up KCC Lana Z2 in Billings.

KCC Delight Z8 – Lot 26
Check out this deep ribbed, strong flanked, feminine fronted January heifer from Knaub Cattle Co. Like his sire, Mulberry 26P, Berry Cherry’s daughters may be the most exciting and influential thing to come out of this great bull. Lot 26 in this year’s NILE comes from a very top of the herd Berry daughter that touts a 104.8 MPPA and produced this sensational 112 weaning ratio daughter as a first calf heifer! Z8’s sire – LSF Cyclone 9934W – is the top Conquest X Big Sky combination from the Ludvigson herd of Montana and offers a superb balance of moderate birth, explosive growth and top carcass traits. They don’t make them like this heifer everyday and coming from a first calf heifer may be the first of superstardom for her amazing dam – KCC Daylite X089!

Laubach Carrie 1083 — Lot 29
This heifer's numbers do all the talking for her with a 89 BWR, 107 WWR and 105 YWR. Her dam was raised at Laubach Red Angus, posts a 105 MPPA, and has produced two of the top selling bull calves in their sale. The Laubach’s purchased her maternal great granddam – Buffalo Creek Carrie M11– in 2008 and Donna says she has turned out to be one of our best buys to date. 1083’s maternal grandsire – GMRA Minotauro– has yielded some of the top producing females with the best dispositions in the Laubach program. Her sire – CRSF Future Direction 9142 – was purchased as a top selling bull from Strawberry Ridge in 2010, mainly for his outcross genetics for the Laubach program. He has proven to be a good investment with tons of visitor compliments on his calves. A.I. bed bred on 4/17/12 to Mushrush Impressive U236, (#1295159, Genex) the high-selling Mushrush bull sired by Buf Crk Lancer R017. She was ultrasounded safe in cafe to the AI date.

Selling 7 straws of semen. 17 years after his birth, they still regard Marias as one of the greatest and best carcass bulls of all time. He still ranks in the top 6% of the breed for TM and top 7% for MARB. He is much more than just a numbers bull, however, he was the ‘97 National Grand Champion Bull. If you having trouble “hanging your hat” on the new projected hotshots, maybe it is time to go back to one of the greatest Red Angus bulls of all time.

OWNG Eve 2012 – Lot 34
Mike & Lisa Owings have been long time participants in the Prestigious NILE Sale and always have exciting cattle with beautiful phenotype . . . . . always. I am betting this Mulberry heifer will be no exception. Mulberry is becoming one of the most celebrated bulls of all time with show winning progeny and some of the most productive daughters in existence today. His daughters will continually escalate in value, being the only females eligible to sell (and their progeny) in the More Mayhem Sales in Kansas 2013 and beyond. This phenomenal February heifer comes from one of the Owing’s hard working Handy Man daughters. Don’t miss her astronomical spread of 67 lb BW to 826 lb WW!

Who can Raisland Rebella 243-859 – forget the 2005 NILE when Ken Marquis of Ithaca, New York bid $31,000 for a half interest in Raisland Rebella 520-502 and then doubled down to pay $62,000 for her ? Lot 36 Well, seven years later here we are, with the next generation from the same cow family – KRN Reba’s Robin. This time however, the pedigree is even more rare, even more hard to get, and probably won’t be duplicated without the use of cloning. Rebella 243-859’s sire is the deceased Wide Spread bull from Ludvigsons that experienced an accident and premature death at the bull collection center. He was destined to be a great Genex sire and is owned by them, Chili Beef, Nordlund Stock Farm, Raisland and Ludvigson. He died with no semen being collected so this will be one of the few females ever offered by this great young bull. This daughter is extemely hard for Karen to part with and took some finessing on a sale manager’s part – don’t let me down Red Angus friends!

Consigned by: REDLAND RED ANGUS HYSHAM, MT / redland@rangeweb.net / 406/342-5267 Red Ritzy was a stand out early in the spring when the heifers went to pasture. She continued to impress us throughout the summer with her style, eye appeal, and depth of body. Her dam 3301 has consistently been a good producer in our herd. She sports an MPPA of 108.3 with her calves having an average weaning ratio of 111. She goes back to RED Milk Shake 0390 who was one of Ole’s favorite bulls. He has Chiefline breeding and produces very productive females! Ritzy’s sire is a bull that we co-own with Laubach Red Angus from the Midland bull test. He is a good calving ease sire that adds a lot of style to his offspring. – JR
This soggy made, dense bodied heifer will no doubt go on to make a great cow. Her dam has been a powerhouse in the famed Redland herd, posting an average weaning ratio in five calves of 111 and tabulating a 108.3 MPPA! I have always said the power of a program always comes from the maternal side and Ms. Ritzy certainly has the backing to be one of the all-time greats! Cold sign doesn't miss any bases. Calving ease, great uddered daughters and complete phenotype with nice balance and thickness. Sons have been in strong demand with most useable on heifers.
A great calving ease bull with a smooth front, strong top line and great muscling. We think this bull is about phenotypically perfect. We purchased him from Sutherlin Farms and is now a proven heifer bull. We have had 2 sets of calves from him and do not have a thing to complain aobut, we sold some bred heifers that had bred him and are now selling some semen from him. It just makes you smile when you know you have done something right and that is this bull.

Ash Creek Fire Proposal A lightning fire started June 25 in southeastern Montana and burned nearly 250,000 acres before a blessed 2 inches of rain helped firefighters and ranchers contain the devastating blaze. In the heart of big ranch country, many ranchers lost grass, fences, hay, buildings and livestock. The Montana Red Angus Association (MTRAA) has formed a committee to help one family who lost half of their commercial Red Angus herd in the fire. Red Angus members, commercial producers or anyone interested in making a difference is encouraged to donate a cow or bred heifer to help ease this ranch family’s loss. The committee is striving to gather a group of cows and heifers that fit this ranch’s calving interval – March 10 for heifers and April 1 for cows – or cow-calf pairs.
However, in order to avoid additional stress due to limited hay and grass lost in the fire, donators are asked to wait on delivery until just prior to calving. The committee has appointed three coordinators from different areas of the state whom you may call with questions or donations. Bob Morton (West) 406-580-0348, Jim Goggins (Central) 406-694-2063 and Bruce Ketchum (East) 406-778-3819.
