2022 Visionary Award Winners

Each year, the Foundation honours notable recipients with the Visionary Awards, which recognize individuals making extraordinary contributions to local, regional, and national humanitarian and business efforts.

BUSINESS LEADER OF THE YEAR Dr. Sylvester Chaung

Dr. Sylvester Chaung is the Chairman and Executive Officer of AWIN Automotive Group, GAIN Automotive Group, and Ontasian Enterprises Inc. Sylvester graduated in Medicine from McGill University in 1973 and Radiology in 1977. After completing his fellowship at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, he immediately joined the staff at SickKids Hospital. Dr. Chuang was a staff Neuroradiologist in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. He was Head of Special Procedures from 1984 to 1996, Head of Neuroradiology from 1996 to 2006 and Head of Magnetoencephalography (MEG) from 2006 to 2012. During which time he was the recipient of the first DHN Chair in Research in Diagnostic Imaging. Sylvester provides the vision and overall strategic planning for his Automotive Groups. He opened his first dealership in 1988 and with his strong business knowledge; he has added an additional 36 dealership rooftops covering 24 brands and 50 franchises to the group. Sylvester has always felt that it is a good business strategy to own both the dealership as well as the land and buildings for the brands that he represents and has put this belief into practice. Sylvester is noted in the Auto industry for providing a premium retail experience winning many manufacturer awards and for operating state of the art Dealerships.

HUMANITARIANS OF THE YEAR Christine and Jonathon Fischer

Frequent and enthusiastic supporters of all that the David Foster Foundation does, Christine and Jonathon Fischer are laser-focused on making a difference in the lives of children and making the world a better place. Through their efforts, they have given their time and resources all around the world. Christine and Jonathon’s aspirations to make a positive change started early in their lives. Since Christine was a teenager, she has been an outspoken volunteer and advocate for helping women and children battling poverty and abuse. Jonathon is the President and CEO of Mold-Masters, the world’s first hotrunner manufacturer to provide collaborative e-Business Enterprise Resource Planning, Computer Aided Design and Internet solutions. These solutions were so innovative they were awarded patent in June 2003. The Jonathon D. Fischer Foundation was built upon mutual dreams, hopes, and aspirations to inspire and empower people to make the world a better place. Jonathon and Christine Fischer know what is needed the most, a hand-up, not just a handout. Their shared dreams to make the world a better place have manifested themselves tenfold in their lives. Thanks to Jonathan and Christine, the world has indeed become a better place!
