A

deremi Murisiku Adeshola was born on July 29th, 1961 to the late Rasinat Folawiyo Adeshola and the late Fasasi Adejare Adeshola in Lagos, Nigeria at Okearin. Pastor Remi is the middle child of six boys between his parents, two of which are late and several step-siblings. Pastor Remi attended his school years at St. Patrick Elementary school in Lagos. And, his high school years were spent at St. Mattias, Lafiaji Lagos. Pastor Remi also attended Zummratu Islamia Grammar school in Yaba, Lagos. Pastor Remi was never really serious about school and admitted that he preferred playing soccer as a youth and helping his mother with buying and selling. Pastor Remi entered the United States on a student visa in 1982 and attended school at Prairie View A&M University where he graduated with a Bache-lor of Science degree in Marketing. Pastor Remi reports that because he didn’t spend time with his studies growing up, he struggled with reading and writing and that his wife, Terri Adeshola was instrumental in helping Pastor Remi with his studies and eventually graduat-ing from college, the first among his siblings.

BIOGRAPHY

P

astor Remi fondly states that God really does have a sense of humor as God gave him chil-dren that are lovers of education as their mother is. Pastor Remi reports, “I gave teachers a difficult time as a student when I was growing up, and from my loins, God gave me a math and science teacher, a future doctor, lawyer and freelance writer for Forbes magazine. When I think about the goodness of God, I marvel at his awesomeness. I’ve learned no matter where you come from, there’s nothing God can’t do! I am speechless when I think about the goodness of God and what he has done in my life. I thank God every day for His mercy, grace, and lovingkindness.”

Happy

60 Birthday

to my Darling Husband!

I

can’t believe it’s been over 35 years! Our God is awesome. To my darling college sweetheart. We met a faithful night in 1985. I worked late and asked my relative who I was staying with while attending college to order pizza, as it was my night to cook, but I was still at work. So, she called Domino’s Pizza and it was my future husband who delivered that pizza. My husband was also attending college and rooming with his childhood friend, Albert Okopie at the time, who told him “forget it, I don’t think she’ll talk to you.” Well, as we know……I did and the rest is, “as they say, history!” I don’t know where the time went?

M

y husband is a wonderful individual. He’s a great father, husband, friend, mentor, brother, son and Pastor. His Faith is immovable and unshakeable. He is relentless in the things of God. He has unwavering Faith in God and trusts Him completely. Remi always says, he doesn’t know where he would be without me, but the truth of the matter is, I don’t know where I’d be without him. As some of you may know, my husband grew up in

abject poverty, but that did not diminish his belief that things would turn around and become better someday.

I

’ve heard my husband say, when he met Jesus his destiny changed, and when he met me, his life changed. I would say, both our lives changed, and for the better. For someone that barely knew how to read and write at 19yo, what God almighty has done in His life is nothing short of miraculous! From His loins, God has given him four college graduates. God is truly awesome and there’s absolutely nothing He cannot do, if we give Him the lead position in our lives. Congratulations my love! Happy Blessed Birthday in Jesus name! You will live to see, 70, 80, 90 and beyond, if the Lord tarries, in Jesus name!!

TRIBUTE TO MY DAD!

T

o put it simply, I love my father very, very much. In appreciating who he is, I must first give honor and respect and adoration to the woman who has been with him. My dad would not be the man he is today if it wasn’t for the love of my mom and the heart God gave her. She is the reason we have a family now and she is the reason my dad became the man he is today. So, thank you Mom! My dad has always been my hero, I never looked up to celebrities or superstar athletes when I was growing up. My Dad was always the model of the type of man I wished to become. My dad was my first friend, I remember him taking me everywhere as a kid. I was always by his side and ready to go. I remember spending hours at his office, going with him to meet with his clients and visiting doctor’s offices, often times wishing I was at home playing videogames when the days got too long. However, looking back I don’t remember all those games I used to

7|

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13

play, but I vividly remember every office he worked in, and I still remember the various locations of the doctor’s offices he’d visit to collect bills from. I remember the places he would take me for lunch, I remember he always wanted me by his side and would never hesitate to talk to me. I didn’t have a lot of friends, but I know for certain, I had at least one best friend.

N

ow as a man, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for my dad because he’s shown me that there is nothing he wouldn’t do or sacrifice for me. As many times as I have wanted to harden my heart because of the world’s injustices, my dad’s love has always softened my heart. I believe in him and would follow him to the ends of the earth to help his vision and dreams come to pass. I have learned three great lessons from my dad, the first is; taking care of your family and being able to provide for them is the greatest show of wealth any man can display. There are a lot of things my dad could have done in the past and could do with his blessings, but what he always does is, makes sure his children are never in need. I know my mom has a lot to do with it too, there are many times I have heard her tell my dad “Don’t go and do for others and then not be able to do for your children as well, when they are in need.” My dad has stayed true to that. The second lesson, builds off the first, after you’ve taken care of your family, also be willing to help those in need. “Givers never lack” is what he would say. So, giving is something I have never had a problem with, no matter how uncomfortable it would be or how big of an amount it was to me personally. And whenever I have given, I have never lacked the things I needed. Lastly and probably the most important

lesson I have learned is “Trust God!” I have seen my dad have more cars than driveways to put them in. I have also seen them taken away in past seasons of financial dryness. We went from a house with a pool and club house to, moving over night into this roach infested townhouse. I’ve also seen my parents build their dream house and leave it behind to go move into an apartment in The woodlands, all in the name of serving God. I saw my dad buy the nicest Escalade I had ever seen, then turn around and sell it for the church, because he needed money to pay church bills and then had to depend on others for rides around town. However, through all these ups and downs, my dad continually served and trusted God. He never gave up, he trusted God and because of that, I will always Trust God and never give up.

A

s I stated in my intro, simply put, my dad is my hero, my best friend and I hope and pray I can be the same kind of man and father he has been to me, for my own future sons and daughters in Jesus name. Happy Birthday Dad! I love you.

Daddy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

D

ear Dad, The past four years, have been the BEST years of my life and I owe that all to you. You have raised such a kind, loving, respectful, honest, caring and strong man that I get to call my husband for the rest of my life. Thank you for molding him into the life partner that complements me. I am so grateful that you embraced me into your life and family; always treating me as your daughter and not just a daughter-in-law. This is why I salute you in this letter as “Dear Dad” and not “Dear My Father-in-Law”; because that is who you are to me. You are my DAD, and you will forever be just that, My Dad!

Y

es, I know we are not related through blood, but your love for me has proven that blood is not always thicker than water. You have covered me with prayer, love and support since the first day I met you. Thank you for being a pillar of strength, a model of wisdom and a daily source of inspiration through your caring and compassion for those around you. I send a daily prayer of gratitude to God for placing you in my life as my dad and granting me the honor to love you and be cared for by you.

I will carry the Adeshola name with pride for the rest of my life and I promise to love your son with all of my heart. I gift you the love in my heart through the words of this poem below: I just want to let you know You mean the world to me Only a heart as dear as yours Would give so unselfishly. The many things you’ve done All the times that you were there Help me know deep down inside How much you really care Even though I might not say I appreciate all you do Richly blessed is how I feel Having a father-in-law, no I’m sorry, A DAD just like you!

THE BEST

Daddy C

EVER....

razy as it sounds, they say God doesn’t come down but sends men. You are one good man God sent my way. You believed in me even when I didn’t always believe in myself. I will ever be grateful for the push, encouragements, and help. Even when I’ve had disagreements with Ashley, you always give me encouraging advice and say “My son you are doing a great job and you are a good man.” It’s always funny in the end, but it gave me a sense of hope to keep doing my best to make my wife happy. Sometimes, when I’ve come to you with difficult situations, you encourage me with your most used line “GO TO SLEEP, I’ll pray and GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF IT” lol. You don’t only have a good place in my heart but you will always have my love and support. Now on this special day, I wish you all the good things you wish for, and so much more, and also to let you know that you are “A SWEET GUY”. Happy Birthday to a great dad!

Daniel Essien

T

hey say middle children can be difficult to raise for various reasons. Personally, I don’t agree - I think I was probably the easiest to raise, but I’ll leave that opinion up to the good Lord above lol. My brother and my dad have always cultivated a great easy going relationship. Then I came along, questioning everything. I have always been inquisitive. One thing I admire about my dad is that he put his culture aside and simply did his best to answer my questions. And, I had lots of questions. People used to get frustrated with me and my inquisitive nature - but my dad loved it! He loved to discuss and ask me questions back. He never felt threatened that I never just simply accepted anything as the ultimate truth. I admire the fact that my dad did not let culture raise us, he raised us with love and perseverance. Even though my dad wasn’t super close to his dad, he somehow figured out how to become an amazing dedicated father up until this very day. Even though I’m 30 years old now, my dad figured out a way to treat me like an adult, but still love and advise me like I’m still his child. My parents are some of the best people I know and I can’t thank God enough for blessing me with them. Happy 60th birthday to the best dad I could have ever had. We disagree and bicker a lot, but we end every conversation with laughter, which is my favorite part about my dad. We can disagree and debate all day long, but it doesn’t take away from the love and respect we have for each other. When it came time for me to get married, one of the first questions my dad asked my husband, was if he would be able to handle my emotions because I can be very sensitive at times. Of course I disagreed with this statement, until I went to Nigeria to spend Christmas with my husband one year, and he called my dad to let him know that I was crying. My dad asked me to give the phone back to Daniel and my dad simply said “ok, this is a great example of what I was talking about. Are you going to be okay with this for the rest of your life?” Thankfully we’re still happily married to this day, but I can’t thank my dad enough for always having my back and looking out for me. He’s the greatest dad a girl could ask for! Happy Birthday Dad! You’re the Best. .

MY

He’s always been one of my biggest supporters in almost anything that has peaked my interest.

W

hen I wanted to do the spelling bee in 5th grade, my dad was my biggest supporter and coach. Love you mom, but dad insisted on being my coach without question. I remember when my dad would read words in my pamphlet and ask me to spell them for days, all the way up to the day of the spelling bee. He’s always been one of my biggest supporters in almost anything that has peaked my interest. He’s always encouraged me to be the best version of myself. Which is ironic, because every time I look in the mirror, I see his face. Growing up everyone always referred to me as his twin, and the older I get, it’s safe to say that I’ve stolen his face, and many of his personality traits. Especially being outspoken, and stubborn at times. One of the biggest qualities my dad embodies is his generosity and his willingness to freely give.

T

hroughout my years, I’ve seen him demonstrate his kindness many times over. It’s safe to say that his heart for God and his passion for people is truly admirable. But one of the biggest qualities I am truly grateful for, is having a father that is present. He’ll go all out for the people that he loves, and no one can ever take his place in my heart. Love you always dad! Happy Birthday.

TRIBUTE TO MY SPIRITUAL FATHER

It all began with an accident audit, but not by accident in the usual sense of the word. When I met you in 2015, you enquired about the pressing needs of the new church I was pastoring in Houston, and when I told you about i, you immediately sowed into the church, and I was filled with emotion as I shared your generous heart with the church leadership. You chose to become my spiritual father during one of the most trying times of my life, oblivious to the life difficulties I was under at the time. After all these years, I know and can definitely state that our paths did not cross by chance; our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ predestined it. By His grace, I have served in a variety of roles and even represented you in a number of high-profile positions and capabilities, all because you believed in me. Nothing is difficult for you, as you frequently state, “Don’t worry, it will be done.” Above all else, prayer is important to you, and everything is a response to prayer; you constantly want to be in constant communication with our father in heaven. Through your life and deeds, you have proven your generosity to me, my family, Future church, Boys Lead Foundation, and others at various times. Every day, I thank you for choosing me as a Spiritual Son. Happy 60th Birthday Sir. We love you always, Owolabi, Doni, Jeshrun, and Jesse (HowillNation).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

H

appy Birthday to a wonderful man of God. We’ve known both Remi & Terri for almost half our lives. It’s amazing how God will use you if you make yourself available. We have laughed, fought and cried together. Remi is a man that is thirsty for God. God has used him to turn around the lives of so many. I remember the man that he helped get released from Kirkiri in Nigeria for a crime he did not commit, with Remi’s leadership the man was not only released from prison but he also turned his life around.

MY TRIBUTE AND PRAYER

deremi M. Adeshola, you are a star among many stars as you are celebrating your 60th birthday. You well know that 60th year is the gateway of becoming an elder and end of adult life, 60th birthday is one of the milestones in life. You have celebrated the beginning of adult life at 18th and your drinking age at your 21st , and by 30th you are already a father. Your many years to this moment have been full years. You have fitted more into your life at 60 than many of your peers will ever filled in their lifetime. Indeed, it is a diamond jubilee, a year of great significance and attainment of value. 60 years of age is not a joke but something worth giving thanks for. I know you bragged about the joyful day July 29th 1961 was for your mother when you were born. As you grow in age, the joy is not only for your mother, but you have brought joy, love, laughter, dreams drama and lessons of life to so many other people and you continue to do so on daily basis. My own joy is that out of these 60 years of your life, you and I have spent 25 years of that together in our office finding way to serve the community and making differences in people’s life. It has been a blessing and unique experience in this age where respect, sincerity and loyalty are being tested on daily basis. I am very in every way appreciate you and cherish the relationship that we have built.

I could this moment shower you with roses and birthday cookies and wishes but choose to pray with you with these three prayers: 1. All praise to Him who has counted us worthy to witness another day even in good health and the right position. You shall be encompassed with joy unlimited, and happiness undiluted. May all your labors be fruitful in God, may heaven bless you with more wisdom and height in the Spirit. May you enjoy peace and calmness within your soul and around you. 2. All praise to God for all He has done and all He is doing and will yet do. On your 60th birthday, take an account of what life has given you, indeed God is faithful and will always be. As you mark your 60th birthday today, may you continue to be truly blessed and filled with all good things from God. May you never be filled with sorrow and pain. May you grow more in wisdom and understanding. Your essence shall be remarkable both to you, to me and many others. 3. We give all thanks and glory to God for the gift of life. He alone is worthy of all! May your life be sweetened even as you grow older, may your essence be remarkable as you age the more. May your joy be undiluted, and your labor be favored by God. Happy diamond jubilee.

A TRIBUTE FROM Your Mother In Law, whom you’ve always freely and fondly called just……mom

I

’ve never considered Remi a son-in-law. He is quite frankly, my son. Remi is a wonderful husband, Father, son and man of God. He is a very sincere and down to earth person. I’ve seen money and education change some people, however Remi is one of those rare people that refuses to be defined by what he has or who others think he is. He is an approachable person, who is real, sincere and genuine and we are happy and very proud to call him Family. Remi also has a sense of humor and can be very funny as well. We love him and God has truly used him in miraculous ways. I rededicated my life to Christ through him over 20+ years ago. Remi, I say to you…..the best is yet to come! God almighty will go Far with you in Jesus name!

On behalf of the McCauley, Broome and Thompson Families

us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his 29 |Letcommandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13
