Biography Dr. Babajide Olatokunbo Olutimehin was born to Mr. S.O. and Mrs. Adejoke Olutimehin in February of 1958. He attended St. Savior’s Private School, Railway Compound, Ebute-Metta Lagos.

H

e proceeded to Igbobi College Yaba Lagos for his secondary education, completed with flying colors and moved to International School Ibadan.

He completed one year at the International School and got admitted to University of Ibadan for pre-medicine in October 1975.

Dr. B.O.Olutimehin graduated as a physician, trained at the University College Hospital Ibadan in 1981. He returned to Lagos for Internship and NYSC at Luth (Lagos University Teaching Hospital).

Dr. Olutimehin was an Instructor to Medical students and worked at the Randle Health Center.

r. Olutimehin met his wife, Dr. Omobolaji Olutimehin (nee Ogunkeye)during his time at LUTH. They fell in Love, got married years later and were blessed with 4 daughters. He is a husband of but one wife (1 Timothy 3:2).

He ran Medican clinic at Victoria Island for Many years in Lagos.

During these years, he was also on the board of health department of Lagos Island Local Government.

e moved later to United States of America and completed his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine.

He is currently the Medical Director of Baytown Health Clinic.

All glory belong unto the Lor, who has done great and mighty things in the life of His son, Babajide Olutimehin.

y father is, quite frankly, the strongest man I know.

I distinctly remember my first trip to the U.S, with my father buying me and my siblings new clothes and shoes for school.

Always taking pride in making sure we were always ready for the next academic year.

I also remember one of the most frightening times in my childhood. When my family was robbed at gunpoint. I remember my father taking off his wedding ring, his watch, opening up his safe, and giving everything he could, just to keep my sisters and I safe. I was only 8 years of age, but I can never forget the strength of my father that night. With a quiet confidence, he held down the fort and assured us all, that everything would be alright.

Motivator:

I remember coming home to celebrate that I was ranked second out of 900 students in my high school graduating class. And my father responding with “why not number one?” That same dogged determination and fight he instilled in me, got me through dental school, and is why I am where I am today.

Tribute to Dr Babajide Olutimehin had to intervene.

I can look back and tell everyone that at any point in time in my life when I needed him he has always been a dependable support.

He went with me to my wife’s Callto-Bar celebration even before we got married, that is to say, he wanted our relationship to succeed and encouraged it.

He has been part of key milestones in my life: at my wedding, when I bought my first car, at the birth of my first born child, early on in my business etc. Everything I ask him to do, he will do and even more .

1 Timothy 5:8 says “he who does not care for his family is worse than an infidel”.

e calls me A–Jyde, one of the many nick names of Jides as we are name sakes. (I love that) He is a very decent and serious minded man. He is a godly man, a real man; classy and thorough-bred.

He has been an example of how to truly love one’s wife; and has been there for me and my siblings all these 31 years.

He is solid as a rock. He is such a good man who doesn’t play politics, but will always tell it as it is.

He came into our lives 31 years ago, when he got married to our senior sister (Dr (Mrs) H.O. Olutimehin) and we can all see the difference today.

I remember my Father saying to him on the night of their wedding, “Mi o f ’owo mi kan ri o” (meaning ‘I have never smacked her before’) please take good care of her.

To the Glory of God, in all these years, I have never heard them quarrel to the point that a third party

He is a man who stands by his wife and children. That’s the example he set for us and has been a directional sign for me especially in loving my wife and children. I remember my former boss, a French man called Mr. David Elbaz, telling me how he loves the way Dr. Olutimehin is devoted to his family and how he drops everything whenever it was time to go and pick his children at school. y Children call him ‘Big Daddy America’ He has been a great senior brother to me and I pray that the God whom I serve and whose I am will Bless and keep him for us .His best days begin now in Jesus name- Amen Happy birthday Sir and many blessed returns in Jesus name!

A Man of Honor!

t is with great delight that we write this piece to honour our very dear brother, Dr. Babajide Olutimehin, on his attainment of sixty years of his sojourn on earth.

The story of Jide (Daddy Yejide) as we fondly call him is that of grace and

We met Jide for the first time, when he married our beautiful and charming niece, Dr. (Mrs.) Omobolaji Olutimehin. Of course, we did not know him well at the time due to the fact that we were not living in the same city.

We got to know him more closely, when in 1999, one of us had to stay with the family in Baltimore.

It is amazing that they were able to accommodate us despite the fact that they were still trying to settle down in the US. He was very accommodating and the relationship blossomed.

J

ide has since been quite a wonderful, kind and caring brother to us. We remember when, through his assistance, we were able to relocate briefly to the US. He was very welcoming and encouraging and he and Bolaji, his wife, housed us for a long time. They were so kind to the extent that when we were to relocate back to Nigeria, they did not want us to go. They both have since welcomed us with open arms each time we came to visit.

We cannot forget the role Jide has played in the lives of our children, particularly, during the wedding ceremonies of two of them. Jide is a very

brilliant and altruistic person. He is very upfront in his dealings with people; no hidden agenda. If he is not happy with a person, that person will know.

He is an ardent believer in God’s majestic power and providence. He would lecture us on the faith of Abraham and how God does answer prayers if only we would believe.

Jide shares his life with people around him. He is very respectful to people older than him and that smirks of good upbringing. We are particularly thrilled by the success of his marriage; great husband and father. He does not joke with his home at all. We have watched him fix his meal himself without bothering his wife who might still be at work or had arrived tired. His humility is unparalleled.

In so many ways, Jide has been a great support to our family. He is also a family man. We remember when he came to Nigeria not too long ago for an occasion and the take-off point was Ile-Ife. We had booked a large room in the VIP Guest House of our University for him but they (himself and Bolaji) said that they would stay with us as it was good to be with family in a home environment than in the hotel! That really touched us.

Our sincere prayer, beloved brother, is that God will continue to shine His light on your path, keep your darling wife, your amiable children, and reward you bountifully for all the blessings God has used you to bestow on others so freely. Hnmm , quite interesting writing about my brother, a confidant who ordinarily should have been referred to as an in-law but ,has by every means been rated beyond that.

I see him more as a sibling for various reasons,i recalled vividly an incident, when the chips were down and all confidence lost in a would be in law, Dr. Babajide stood his ground ,threw his weight behind my marriage to her sibling Mojisola Olutimehin 27 years ago - one memory that will not be forgotten in my life time.

I also hold I him in high esteem for his exemplary lifestyle, and firm Christian life ,ever ready to let you know the goodness of God. His unassuming and impeccable character at time when a lot of his contemporaries were bending the rules for financial gains , endeared him to all .

No wonder, the almighty has been faithful and wonderful in providing him with the bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh in the person of amiable Dr. Mrs .Omobolaji Olutimehin.

I have every cause to be proud of my association with him.

On this joyous occasion, I fondly recall with nostalgia our days of childhood innocence and youthful impressionable years, when you speak very little and same means a lot when digested. In all, we cannot but give thanks to God for His Faithfulness and grace that you are now a worthy member of the Sexagenarian Club. Congrats! My Dear Cousin.
