Two children have been confirmed with the measles in separate Devonport early childhood centres, according to health authorities. However, the centres have not been named for “privacy reasons.” The two centres were among the nine schools and early childhood centres across
the Waitemata District Health Board (DHB) confirmed with measles over the past 36 days, according to the Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS). Of the almost 160 people infected with measles in the Waitemata DHB area, more than half were so unwell they had to be hospitalised,
DHB chief executive Dale Bramley said. As of 11 September, there were 61 cases in Waitakere Hospital and 14 in North Shore Hospital. At press time, there were no confirmed cases in Takapuna, Milford, Forrest Hill, Castor Bay or Sunnynook schools or early childhood centres, the ARPHS spokesperson said.
