Supermarket puts prominent Lake Rd site up for sale A high-profile commercial site at the entrance to Devonport is about to go on the market. Woolworths has decided to sell its land at 25 Lake Rd, a former service station site the supermarket chain previously planned to develop as an online order-collection depot. “Following our decision not to proceed

with the direct-to-boot facility we have been considering a range of options for the property,” a Woolworths spokesperson said. “We have had a number of parties approach us on an unsolicited basis to express interest in purchasing the property, and following further consideration we have

decided to take the property to market for sale.” No timeframe for the sale had been set, but it appears likely this year. Plans for the direct-to-boot operation were “paused” in March 2025. They were first revealed in November 2023, after the company lodged consents for the project.
