DEVEIS WOOTEN INTERIOR DESIGN TRANSFER PORTFOLIO

ABOUT ME ABOUT Hello! My name is Deveis Wooten and I am currently on the road to receiving my Associates Degree from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) with a major in Interior Design. From the two years at NOVA, I have completed projects in Residental and Commercial Design with skillsets in Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp as well as Hand-drafting. I remember a time when I was younger when my aunt and I would play around with decorating her house and I always was so happy to go through the process of choosing which lamp will look better or which type of upholstered chairs will compliment the living room space. My curiosity got the best of me when I looked up and found out what I was doing, was actually something I can make a career of. When I learned that Interior Design has so much under it than just decorating, I knew that this is what I wanted to study in college.

This project was completed my last semester at NOVA and the objective was to choose a company and design their new headquarters that will be located in Washington DC. This was my favorite project because I finally obtained the skills needed to show my creative side and everything I envisioned is being shown in this project. Instead of sticking with the design that everyone assciates The Cheesecake Factory with, I chose to take the more soft, modern and professional route but still incorporating The Cheesecake Factory’s persona.

The Cheesecake Factory Headquarters is located in the small area of Cathedral Heights in Washington, DC. The headquarters will incorporate environmental sustainability design through the use of lighting fixtures and colors. Bringing in funky shapes showcased through the furniture selections and lighting fixtures will connect the interior space with the area of Cathedral Heights and soft colors like warm brown and soft green will represent The Cheesecake Factory brand.

HOTEL LXXVI (76) SAINT PROJECT HOTEL LXXVI SAINT CANYON POINT, UTAH Hotel LXXVI SAINT has recently got some exposure and is now the best hotel to reside in when visitng Amangiri, Utah! Recently purchased by a young couple, this 5 story hotel in Canyon Point has amenities that will have you relaxing and exploring new activites your entire stay. Cultural activites and adventures, access to the national parks, and also access to the great local ingredients that you will enjoy when you dine in the restaurant is just a few of what is offered at Hotel LXXVI SAINT! With Hotel LXXVI SAINT, we are going to showcase a minimilistic modern style. Use of stone finishes and having a soft color palette will help show this. The lobby will be simplistic and clean but also relaxed to acommodate the guests. Cotton and Chenille will be fabrics used mostly in the lobby to give guests comfortable seating. The choice of putting the cove ceiling above the reception desk gives the space a modern feel; with the floor-to-ceiling windows bringing in daylight. Dark tones in the bar and lounge area will contrast the warm tones throughout the other spaces that will give different tone in that area. 16

RESIDENTAL LIGHTING PROJECT Program’s Used: The objective for this project was to incorporate - AutoCAD different lighting fixtures through the bedroom. - SketchUp The plan was given with the space already furnished, so my task was to make the space functionable by adding wall washers, downlights and ceiling lights.

24

The objective for this project was to completely render the small space however we liked so I decided to transform the small bedroom into a reading room. Program used SketchUp

TINY HOUSE PROJECT

ONE-BEDROOM PROJECT

The objective for this project was to choose one out of three given houses and create it from the PDF image. The vision was to make it into a one-bedroom house so I took out the second bedroom and made that space into a study/relax area.

Program Used: - SketchUp

26

The objective for this project was to also create the plan from the PDF image and render it with furniture and flooring materials , with perspectives and elevations to show the design.

1901 HOUSE - RENDERED FLOOR PLAN AND ELECTRICAL PLAN

This was a hand drafting project that I did my Freshman year in the IDS 105 class which is a class that focuses solely on hand drafting and its techniques. We were given the plan where we had to add flooring and furniture but also having to create a electrical plan and two elevations. 30

still life / cast shadows projects

These works were completed in ART 131. The work on the left is a Still Life painting of a flower pot and a watering tool with a medium of paint. The work on the left is a chalk pastel medium. The goal of both pieces where to showcase cast shadows. 34

Completed in ART 131, our first project was to create a color wheel with their hues, tints and shades. The task was to design it a unique way and make it you own by also showing the greyscale.
