Proposed Planting All proposed planting to be specified at detail design. All planting will be non-invasive and native to the UK, although non-invasive non-native plants may be considered if they provide future proofing benefits for climate adaptability. Species chosen will generally be reflective of the locally found species, but alternative species may be chosen for future climate change requirements. A Landscape and Environmental Management Plan will be produced to aid with future management of the landscape. Proposed hedges will be species rich planted as whips; and include occasional trees planted as standards. The hedges should generally be managed to be kept to a height of 1.2-1.5m; in keeping with existing field and road boundary hedgerows. Individual and scattered trees will be planted as standards as a minimum and will be specified with irrigation bags to aid establishment. Where planted in hard surfacing, appropriate tree pit structures should be used to avoid soil compaction and ensure tree roots can grow effectively. Root barriers may be required in some locations. Verges are generally proposed to be seeded with species rich wildflower grass mixes that can be left to grow long or cut short where required for visibility. Road junctions are proposed to have more amenity planting to enhance the entrances to development plots. These may be ornamental grasses or low growing flowering shrubs Attenuation ponds and ditches will be seeded with wetland speicies rich grass; with suitable marginal and emergent plug plants within and to pond edges. .

Boundary Treatments The majority of boundary treatments to the adjacent development parcels have been left open with the intention that these will be developed as a part of future planning applications and determined as part of forthcoming adjacent developments to ensure a coordinated approach for each of the interfaces. It is anticipated that the majority of boundaries to the adjacent development parcels will be either hedgerows (with of without trees), grass verges or property garden walls/fences.
Raised Crossing Areas Design of these areas are indicative and will be developed at detail design to ensure coordination with the overall SW Rugby masterplan and ensure continuity of material use between each scheme. These areas are intended to reinforce the perception of the priority of pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians over vehicles on these crossings and slow traffic down. Materials may include rough cut setts in contrasting colour, feature paving and stamped asphalt to create clear demarcation of the crossing points and calm traffic by alerting drivers to upcoming hazard. Street trees, planters and benches to either side of crossing could create an informal stopping area and sense of place. Bins, cycle stands and other street furniture could also be incorporated as required but would be positioned to avoid street cluttering.
