The biggest risks Partying Responsibly: Los Cabos is known for its nightlife, with numerous bars and clubs offering an unforgettable experience. However, excessive partying, especially involving drugs and alcohol, can lead to risky situations. It's crucial to indulge responsibly, knowing your limits and making choices that prioritize your well-being.

Los Cabos is a wonderful place, but just like anywhere else, unexpected things can happen. Even though it's generally safe, it's smart to be ready for any medical emergencies that might pop up during your stay. In an exclusive interview with the dedicated professionals from the Los Cabos Fire Department, they shared some important info to help you out. This guide has everything you need to know to handle medical situations in Cabo, just in case. While we hope you won't need it, having a plan can be a game-changer in those rare moments when things don't go as planned.

Driving Under the Influence: Exploring the scenic landscapes of Cabo by car is a popular choice, but driving under the influence poses a serious risk. Mexican authorities have strict penalties for DUI offenses. If you plan to indulge in the local nightlife, consider alternative transportation options, such as taxis or designated drivers, to ensure a safe journey back to your accommodation.

Beach Safety: Although most of the beaches in Los Cabos are perfectly safe, beachgoers must exercise caution. Ocean currents can be strong, and accidents, such as drowning or injuries, may occur. Always be mindful of posted warnings, follow safety guidelines, and never underestimate the power of the sea. If you're unsure about the conditions, seek advice from local authorities or lifeguards.

What do to: Stay Calm: Keep a cool head to think clearly.

Dial 911: Call 911 for emergencies; it works in Cabo.

Contact Your Accommodation: Inform your hotel; they can assist.

Follow Local Instructions: Obey advice from local authorities.

Keep Important Info Handy: Have your accommodation details and contacts accessible.

Know Nearest Medical Facilities: Be aware of nearby hospitals or clinics.

Check Travel Insurance: Verify your insurance covers medical emergencies.

Avoid Risks: Steer clear of risky behaviors for a safer trip.

Who to call: If you need help fast in Cabo, just dial 911. It works here too, just like it does at home. Another important number to remember is the fire department, have these numbers saved on your phone in case of emergency: Cabo San Lucas Fire Department: 624 143 3577 San Jose Fire Department: 624 189 1082 La Paz: 612 165 4343 Red Cross: 624 143 3300 The US Consulate in Los Cabos is located in Palmilla, in San Jose del Cabo. Health & Wellness interior design By Barrie Livingstone

Designing your home with health and wellness as a key factor for design is a trend that is gaining popularity. Since the lockdown, many are working from home, and it is crucial that we rethink how we are functioning in our spaces. Wellness-focused design involves lighting, materials, air and sound quality, neutral color palettes, biophilic design (connecting architecture and nature), greenery, and outdoor-indoor space integration—to name just a few key design areas. The goal of wellness design is to create interiors that support the physical, mental, and social well-being of the occupants. In Los Cabos, we are blessed with a year-round abundance of clear skies and direct sunlight. Views of the sea and mountains are all around us, and well-designed courtyards and patio spaces can increase our happiness. Some of the benefits of wellness design include improved mood, productivity, creativity, and immunity, as well as reduced stress, anxiety, and fatigue. There are many ways to incorporate wellness design into your home, whether you are building a new one or renovating an existing one. Here are some examples of wellness design elements for a healthy home: Healthy Materials: The products and materials in your home can pollute the air you breathe. Choose natural, organic, and low-VOC materials that are free of harmful chemicals and allergens. For example, use natural clay or stone flooring, and opt for paints, sealants, and adhesives that are green certified. Clean Indoor Air: A healthy home has clean air with plenty of ventilation and minimal pollutants. Install high-efficiency air filters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air purifiers to improve the air quality in your home. You can also use plants, salt lamps, beeswax candles, and essential oils to purify and freshen the air naturally. 14

wellness Sanitary Surfaces: On the surface, wellness design makes sanitization a top priority in all areas of the home. Use antimicrobial and easy-to-clean materials such as marble and granite, quartz, and stainless steel.

a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. Studies have shown that biophilic design can reduce stress, blood pressure, and heart rate, as well as improve mood, cognition, and creativity.

Circadian Lighting: Lighting affects your mood, energy, and sleep quality. Use natural light as much as possible, and avoid harsh or artificial light sources. You can also use smart lighting systems that adjust the color temperature and intensity of the light according to the time of day and your circadian rhythm. For example, use warmer and dimmer light in the evening to prepare your body for sleep, and use cooler and brighter light in the morning to wake you up.

Spiritual Spaces: A healthy home should also have a space where you can practice your spirituality, whether it is yoga, meditation, prayer, or any other form of self-care. You can create a spiritual space by dedicating a corner, a room, or a garden to your spiritual practice. Decorate your spiritual space with items that inspire you, such as candles, crystals, statues, books, or art. Use music, incense, or diffusers to create a calming ambiance.

Sleep Chamber: Your bedroom should be a place where you can relax and recharge. Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and comfortable. Use blackout curtains, soundproofing, and white noise machines to block out any external noise and light. Use organic bedding, pillows, and mattresses that are breathable and hypoallergenic. You can also use aromatherapy, meditation, and music to create a soothing atmosphere. Biophilic Design: Biophilic design is the practice of connecting architecture and nature to enhance human well-being. You can use biophilic design elements such as plants, water features, natural materials, textures, patterns, and colors to bring nature into your home. You can also use windows, skylights, and sliding doors to create

needs, preferences, and lifestyle. By designing your home for wellness, you can create a space that nurtures your body, mind, and soul.

The home featured is one of my most recent designs. It sits on the beach in Palmilla and embodies all that we love about being beside the sea. A natural color palette along with the use of natural materials creates a harmony of relaxation. Portholes on the doors along with colored glass windows add a nautical vibe, reminding us that we are at the beach. The downstairs den has all four walls clad in wood shutters with a Rosa Morada wood plank beamed ceiling, creating a chic beach hut vibe. The primary bedroom is on the main floor where sound intrusion was a problem. This was easily solved by upholstering the bed wall in a soft sandy beige chenille fabric that creates a soundproof quality to the sleeping chamber. Wellness design is not a one-size-fits-all approach but rather a personalized and holistic one that considers your

GOLF

GOLFING LOS CABOS It is abundantly clear that the success of the WWT Championship at Diamante Cardonal solidifies Los Cabos as the most important and exciting golf destination in Mexico, period. The recent showcase of the sport in town will without a doubt encourage golfers from around the world to come and have a taste of the most challenging and beautiful courses in Mexico, in the southern Baja region. Los Cabos now offers a diverse array of options, ranging from public and resort public to semi-private and private courses. It has become a benchmark for playing award-winning designs by prolific architects such as Jack Nicklaus' Quivira, Cabo del Sol Cove Club, Puerto Los Cabos II, Campestre San Jose, Palmilla, El Dorado, to Tom Fazio’s Querencia, Tiger Woods’ Diamante Cardonal, Davis Love’s Diamante Dunes, Greg Norman’s Solmar Golf Links, Puerto Los Cabos I, Fred Couples’ Twin Dolphin, Robert Trent Jones’ Cabo Real, Tom Weiskopf ’s Cabo del Sol Desert, among a few others.

BY TATO GONZÁLEZ

Each course possesses their very own personality, catering to experienced scratch golfers as well as average amateurs and casual players of all levels. Most courses offer five different tee boxes to make them enjoyable and challenging, regardless of your handicap. For your next visit, let's provide you with some tips, starting with some of the Nicklaus-designed courses, given the rich history and evolution of golf over the last three decades. Courses designed in the early 90s, like Palmilla, offer three 9-hole courses in three distinct Baja scenarios. The Ocean Course provides breathtaking views descending to the sea, featuring a challenging, long, usually wind-influenced, par-four 3rd hole with a green right next to the beach. The Arroyo Course is set amidst sand creeks formed by the desert over centuries, with most holes surrounded by extensive sand areas, testing your sand skills if your shots are not straight. The Mountain Course showcases stunning desert-mountain landscapes with dynamic fairways and occasional water hazards, accompanied by birdwatching and occasional deer crossings. Fast forward 20+ years, and we arrive at another Nicklaus gem, Quivira Golf Club, which features one of the most impressive sight-seeing golfing experiences. This delightful journey by the ocean features spectacular holes reminiscent of the world's most beautiful links. Despite some holes appearing short and wide, the ever-present wind adds complexity, so be ready to get out all the shots you have in your bag. The iconic dogleg-left, signature par-four 5th hole ascends and descends a cliff, providing the bold with an opportunity to reach the green in one. Noteworthy are the par-3s at the 6th and 14th holes, where you must hit the greens carved into the hills by the sea.
