Time Zone

We are unique in every way, including having our very own time zone. Newfoundland Standard Time is 30 minutes ahead of Atlantic Standard Time (Maritime Provinces and parts of Labrador) and 1.5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (Toronto and New York).

Climate

Eastern Newfoundland has a moderate four-season climate and the third most temperate climate of all cities in Canada. e cold Labrador Current and the warm waters of the Gulf Stream meet on the Grand Banks in the North Atlantic just o our coast which can create extremes of weather in short periods of time. In fact, locals will tell you that if you don’t like the weather to wait a minute, it will change. Time

April & May

First of spring flowers peek through. April showers bring May flowers, and fog.

June Pleasant and sunny with cool northeast winds. Iceberg season. Early whales.

July & August Beautiful summer days and nights without excessive humidity. Whale season.

September & October Warm with some cool days and moderate to cool evenings. Berry season.

November & December Cool temperatures with possibility of occasional snow that does not remain.

January, February & March

Generally cold with regular snowfall. Spring follows Sheilagh's Brush, the last major snowfall in March.
